Logo design for brand marketing

A logo is a graphic mark or emblem commonly used by commercial enterprises, organizations
and even individuals to aid and promote instant public recognition. Logos can be created by
almost anyone, but are most commonly created by graphic designers or artists who have been
trained to create logos that can carry whatever meaning or interpretation the company wishes
to put forth. For example the Nike logo is very clean and simple, however the shape, size and
style subconsciously tells us this is the right choice if want to be healthy and active. The FedEx
logo contains a symbol with the words – do you see it?

Why is Logo design important?

Logos are the most extensively used symbol of any organization or enterprise. They can be
found on every marketing piece produced by a company – whether it be online marketing,
media marketing, advertisements, letterheads or press releases, the company logo is present at
all times. Visual recognition for humans is many times stronger than literal recognition. Thus
the public will recognize, connect to and remember a good logo or symbol. A logo is usually
the first impression a customer would have of your company and a visually strong logo will go
a long way to ensure a positive impact and positive outcome for your company.

How to ensure a good logo design:

You may wonder what’s so difficult about creating a good logo. They look easy to do, so no
problem, right? When you only see the result of a designer’s efforts, the logo creation can look
like a simple task. But it’s not. A logo takes thought and creativity, and many elements combine
to create a successful logo.

Here are some points to consider when creating your logo:

Keep it simple

Simplicity makes you logo easily to recognize, versatile and memorable. Good logos feature
something unexpected or unique, without being “overdrawn.”

Make it memorable

An effective logo design should be memorable, which is achieved by keeping it simple, yet
effective.

Think about the future of your logo

An effective logo should be timeless. Will your logo stand the test of time? Will it still be
effective in 10, 20 or 30 years from now? This is again achievable by keeping your logo simple.

Is your logo versatile?

An effective logo will work across a variety of media and applications. So, ask yourself, is my
logo still effective in one color? Is it still effective in reverse (light logo on dark background)?
Is it effective when made the size of a postage stamp, or as large as a billboard?

Is your logo appropriate?

Is your logo appropriately positioned? For example, a law firm using a child-like font and color
scheme would not be appropriate. Make sure you consider the text, image and color when
review what your graphic designer has produced.

How much does a logo cost?
This is the most frequently asked question and cannot be easily answered because every
company has different needs. My best answer would be to request a customized quote and
provide the designer with as much information as you can about your company, product and or
service.

I hope you have found our information useful and will consider hiring a professional when
you’re ready to take on the task of logo development.
