Delivered by Sreenath Gopalakrishna, Director of Software Engineering at BT, and Dr Jim Webber, Chief Scientist at Neo4j, at Gartner Data & Analytics Summit London 2024 this presentation examines how knowledge graphs and GenAI combine in real-world solutions.
BT Group has used the Neo4j Graph Database to enable impressive digital transformation programs over the last 6 years. By re-imagining their operational support systems to adopt self-serve and data lead principles they have substantially reduced the number of applications and complexity of their operations. The result has been a substantial reduction in risk and costs while improving time to value, innovation, and process automation. Future innovation plans include the exploration of uses of EKG + Generative AI.

Today’s business analyst needs data from all kinds of places: the data warehouse, data marts, web services as well as local and departmental files and spreadsheets. The fact is, even seasoned analysts typically spend more than half their time hunting and gathering data, which impedes analytical insights and limits time to value. Increasingly, innovative organizations are turning to data virtualization as a faster path to analytics, thus expediting business impact.
Register for this episode of The Briefing Room to hear Analysts Lindy Ryan and John O'Brien of Radiant Advisors explain how analytical sandboxes and data virtualization can enable true analytic agility. They will be briefed by Marc Breissinger of Cisco Data Virtualization Business Unit, who will tout his company’s upcoming analytic platform Data Collage, a desktop tool for designed for analysts who need agile access to enterprise data. He will discuss how Data Collage allows users to easily combine data and accelerate the development of new analytics.

Live Webcast Aug. 21, 2013
The demand for agility continues to motivate today's data-driven organizations. Competitors all over the globe are vying for faster time-to-insight, or even time-to-action. But there are other issues like governance and data quality that typically slow down key processes. Almost invariably, legacy systems that perform critical business processes are late to the party, resulting in enterprise inertia. However, a new wave of innovation is solving that problem by incorporating a late-binding approach for both analytics and operations.
Register for this episode of Hot Technologies to hear Analysts Krish Krishnan of Sixth Sense, and Dr. Robin Bloor of The Bloor Group, as they outline their competing visions for the architecture of a real-time enterprise. They'll be briefed by Dave Duggal of EnterpriseWeb, who will tout his company's platform for delivering robust enterprise functionality at the speed of the network. He'll discuss how EnterpriseWeb leverages the best ideas of service orientation, combined with intelligent agents that act as virtual hubs for the sharing of data, analytics, and mission-critical business processes.

Today's digital enterprises are seeing an explosion of data at the edge. The Internet of Everything is fast approaching a critical mass that will demand a sea change in how companies process data. This new world of information is widely distributed, streaming, and overall becoming too big to move. Experts predict that within two to three years, the bulk of analytic processing will take place on the fringes of information architectures. As a result, forward-thinking companies are dramatically shifting their analytic strategies.
Register for this episode of The Briefing Room to hear veteran Analyst Mark Madsen of Third Nature explain how a new era of information architectures is now unfolding, paving the way to much more responsive and agile business models. He'll be briefed by Kim Macpherson of the Cisco Data and Analytics Business Unit, who will explain how her company's platform is uniquely suited for this new, federated analytic paradigm. She'll demonstrate how edge analytics can help companies address opportunities quickly and effectively.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Search and Society: Reimagining Information Access for Radical FuturesBhaskar Mitra
Â
The field of Information retrieval (IR) is currently undergoing a transformative shift, at least partly due to the emerging applications of generative AI to information access. In this talk, we will deliberate on the sociotechnical implications of generative AI for information access. We will argue that there is both a critical necessity and an exciting opportunity for the IR community to re-center our research agendas on societal needs while dismantling the artificial separation between the work on fairness, accountability, transparency, and ethics in IR and the rest of IR research. Instead of adopting a reactionary strategy of trying to mitigate potential social harms from emerging technologies, the community should aim to proactively set the research agenda for the kinds of systems we should build inspired by diverse explicitly stated sociotechnical imaginaries. The sociotechnical imaginaries that underpin the design and development of information access technologies needs to be explicitly articulated, and we need to develop theories of change in context of these diverse perspectives. Our guiding future imaginaries must be informed by other academic fields, such as democratic theory and critical theory, and should be co-developed with social science scholars, legal scholars, civil rights and social justice activists, and artists, among others.
