scary. Teachers may
not want to give up
their control or they
may have fears
about their digital
footprint.
3. Reason #2: Low Self Efficacy
Teachers sometimes
doubt in their ability
to use and create
high tech lessons.
4. Reason #3: Testing
As long teachers are
held accountable for
multiple choice
testing, they will
continue to teach in
that manner.
5. Reason #4: Consumerism
Some teachers
believe that all this
new technology is
just for fun. Students
can only really learn
from books.
6. Reason #5: Lack of Leadership
Teachers can be
afraid of the
responsibility of using
computers. What if
the students break it?
What if they go to a
non-approved site?
What if someone in
my class is a cyber
bully?
7. Reason #6: Inconsistent Paradigms
Teachers may worry
about how to
manage all of the
technology when
they know how
capable they are of
managing several
groups at a time.
8. Reason #7: Personal Experience
Sometimes teachers
don’t have enough
personal experience
with technology so
they may get
frustrated easily with it.
9. Reason #8: Humility
Teachers can be
very proud of their
accomplishments.
This makes it difficult
for them to realize
that there can be
other ways to
approach teaching.
10. Reason #9: It’s Optional
As long as there isn’t
a mandate for
technology teachers
will feel like using it is
just optional.
11. Reason #10: Lack of Technology
Schools still can’t
afford to meet the
digital age. Most of
the time there aren’t
enough computers
to go around.
12. Reason #11: Lack of Research
Computers in schools
are still being
underused. There
are so many things
teachers could do
with computers but
they don’t take the
time to research it’s
capabilities.
