The Mustard Seed and Leaven
1. The Mustard Seed and Leaven
Luke 13:18-19 18 Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like?
and whereuntoshall I resemble it?
19 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his
garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air
lodged in the branches of it.
Luke 17:6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard
seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou pluckedup by
the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it shouldobey you.
Matt 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for
verilyI say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye
shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it
shall remove; and nothingshall be impossible unto you.
Matt 13:32 Which indeedis the least of all seeds: but when it is
grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that
the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.
Part of the mega mustard seed movement (abnormal growth)
The kingdom of God has in its midst an abnormal growth. Notice not all the herbs
in the garden grow into this “great tree”. Jesus is warning about the influence that
will abound by the end of the church-age, and continue to grow in the tribulation.
Rev 17:16-18 16 And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the
beast, these shall hate the whoreThe woman of vs18
, and shall make her
desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.
17 For God hath put in their hearts to fulfil his will, and to agree, and
give their kingdom unto the beast Roman Catholic Church turns over the keys to the
Anti-Christ
, until the words of God shall be fulfilled.
18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which
reigneth over the kings of the earth.
2. Rev 18:3-4 3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of
her fornication, andthe kings of the earth have committed
fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich
through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heardanother voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her,
my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive
not of her plagues.
This mustardseed growth is a satanic apostasy that infest and dwarfs the ‘garden
of God’ in the end of the age.
Matt 13
33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like
unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till
the whole was leavened.
Leaven:
Matt 16:6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the
leaven of the Pharisees andof the Sadducees.
Mark 8:15 And he chargedthem, saying, Take heed, beware of the
leaven of the Pharisees, andof the leaven of Herod.
Luke 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gatheredtogether an
innumerablemultitude of people, insomuch that they trode one
upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware
ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
Gal 5:9 A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
1Cor 5:6 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven
leaveneth the whole lump?
How Leaven manifest itself:
3. Priest take the name “father”
Judg 17:10-13 10 And Micah said unto him, Dwell with me, and be unto
me a father and a priest, and I will give thee ten shekels of silver by the
year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the Levite went in.
11 And the Levite was content to dwell with the man; and the young man
was unto him as one of his sons.
12 And Micah consecratedthe Levite; and the young man became his
priest, and was in the house of Micah.
13 Then said Micah, Now know I that the LORD will do me good, seeingI
have a Levite to my priest.
Judg 18:19 And they said unto him, Hold thy peace, lay thine hand upon
thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us a father and a priest: is it better
for thee to be a priest unto the house of one man, or that thou be a priest
unto a tribe and a family in Israel?
Mal 1:6 A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a
father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith
the LORD of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say,
Wherein have we despised thy name?
Matt 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your
Father, which is in heaven.
Wear long robes
Matt 23:5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make
broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the bordersof their garments,
Mark 12:38 And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes,
which love to go in long clothing, and love salutations in the
marketplaces,
Teaching Tradition over Godsword
Mark 7:6-8 6 He answeredand said unto them, Well hath Esaias
prophesiedof you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me
with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
4. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worshipme, teaching for doctrines the
commandments of men.
8 For layingaside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of
men, as the washingof pots and cups: and many other such like things ye
do.
The woman:
The ‘Church’ or bride of Christ, is never calleda “woman”.
The true church, which is His Body (Eph. 5:24–33), is a Wife or Bride (Rev. 21) or
a Chaste Virgin (2 Cor. 11:1–3), butnever “a woman.”
The woman of the Thyatira church is an adulteress
Rev 2:20 NotwithstandingI have a few things againstthee, because
thou sufferestthat woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a
prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit
fornication, andto eat things sacrificedunto idols.
The woman of Revelation 17:1–5 is a whore.
Rev 17:1-5 1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the
seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will
shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon
many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication,
and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine
of her fornication.
3 So he carriedme awayin the spirit into the wilderness: andI saw a
woman sit upon a scarlet colouredbeast, full of names of blasphemy,
havingseven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayedin purple and scarletcolour, and
decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden
5. cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her
fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON
THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF
THE EARTH.
This “woman” loves purple and scarlet, her symbolis a golden cup, she murders
Christians, and She is a city built on seven mountains (Rev. 17:3–4, 6, 18).
Rev 17:3-4 3 So he carriedme away in the spirit into the wilderness:
and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet colouredbeast, full of names of
blasphemy, havingseven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayedin purple and scarlet colour, and
decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, havinga golden
cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
Rev 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the
saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw
her, I wonderedwith great admiration.
Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city,
which reigneth over the kings of the earth.
Three measures of meal
Since the “meal” is made fromwheat. The wheat in verse38 are “the children of
the kingdom,” and the children of the Kingdomof God in this age are likened to a
lump of unleavened meal (1 Cor. 5).
1Cor 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new
lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed
for us:
The meal represents the Body of Christin three groups: Roman Catholic, Greek
Orthodox, and Protestant. The teaching of the parable is clear.
6. The Roman Catholic Church is the whoreof Rev. 17:1–5 and her aim is to corrupt
doctrine until all three groups acceptfalse doctrine.
This parable is a prophesy of the apostasy that ends two ages (Church-ageand
Trib.). Jesus is applying this to “the kingdomof God,” Luke 13:20–21
In the end of the Church age there will be a mass return to the Roman Catholic
systemof corruption, which makes up the “leaven of the Pharisees.”
Itis also found within the body of born again believers, in the Body of Christ!
In Leviticus 7:13, we find that “LEAVENED bread” is accepted on the part of the
believer, where only “unleavened bread” is found where it represents Christ!
(Lev. 23:6).
Lev 2:11 No meat offering, which ye shall bring unto the LORD, shall
be made with leaven: for ye shall burn no leaven, nor any honey, in
any offeringof the LORD made by fire.
Lev 23:6 And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of
unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat
unleavened bread.
Lev 7:13 Besides the cakes, he shall offer for his offeringleavened
bread with the sacrifice of thanksgivingof his peace offerings. Where
did the leaven come from?
Leaven was permitted in the “thank offering”; this is a voluntary offering not a
mandated offering, it was an expression of devotion fromlives that were not
entirely rid of sin. It taught that everyting eaten is sanctified by the Word of God
and prayer 1Tim 4:4-5; 1Cor 10:23, 30
1Tim 4:4-5 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be
refused, if it be receivedwith thanksgiving:
5 For it is sanctifiedby the word of God and prayer.
1Cor 10:23 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not
expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
7. 1Cor 10:30 For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for
that for which I give thanks?
That which enters the body is not what defiles the man but that which is already
in a man Mat 15:11
Ps 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
Deut 29:18 Lest there shouldbe among you man, or woman, or
family, or tribe, whose heart turneth awaythis day from the LORD our
God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be
among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
Heb 12:14-15 14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without
which no man shall see the Lord:
15 Looking diligentlylest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any
root of bitterness springingup trouble you, and thereby many be
defiled;
Matthew 13:33 the leaven has no oil in it (Lev. 2:11), and oil represents the Holy
Spirit!
Matt 13
34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without
a parable spake he not unto them:
35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will
open my mouth in parables;I will utter things which have been kept secret
from the foundation of the world.
Ps 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of
old:
A Parable is intended to reveal future events to a discerning audience.
8. A foolwill reap distruction from tryingto interpreta Parable because he
applieshis message to it instead of searching for God’s
Prov 26:7-10 7 The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in
the mouth of fools.
8 As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to
a fool. 9 As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a
parable in the mouth of fools.
10 The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and
rewardeth transgressors.
Rulesto follow in order to understand aParable:
Prov 1:1-7 1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of
Israel;
2 To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of
understanding;
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and
equity;
4 To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and
discretion.
5 A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of
understandingshall attain unto wise counsels:
6 To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the
wise, and their dark sayings.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools
despise wisdom and instruction.
