the landof the children of Ammon.
3 And the princes of the children of Ammon said unto Hanun their lord,
Thinkest thou that David doth honour thy father, that he hath sent
comforters unto thee? hath not David rather sent his servants unto
thee, to search the city, and to spy it out, and to overthrow it?
4 Wherefore Hanun took David's servants, and shaved off the one half of
their beards, and cut off their garments in the middle, even to their

2Sam 18:10-14 10 And a certain man saw it, and told Joab, and said,
Behold, I saw Absalom hangedin an oak.
11 And Joab said unto the man that told him, And, behold, thou sawest
him, and why didst thou not smite him there to the ground? and I would
have given thee ten shekels of silver, and a girdle.
12 And the man said unto Joab, Though I should receive a thousand
shekels of silver in mine hand, yet would I not put forth mine hand against
the king's son: for in our hearingthe king chargedthee and Abishai and
Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Absalom.
13 Otherwise I shouldhave wrought falsehoodagainstmine own life: for
there is no matter hid from the king, and thou thyself wouldesthave set
thyself against me.
14 Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts
in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was

unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why are ye the last to bringthe king back
to his house? seeingthe speech of all Israel is come to the king, even to his
house.
5. 12 Ye are my brethren, ye are my bones and my flesh: wherefore then are
ye the last to bring back the king?
13 And say ye to Amasa, Art thou not of my bone, and of my flesh? God

did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto
Abner the son of Ner, and unto Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew,
and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his
girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet.

answeredme.
31 And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and
bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocentblood, which Joab
shed, from me, and from the house of my father.
1Kgs 2:32-33 32 And the LORD shall return his blood upon his own head,
who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and slew
them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit, Abner
the son of Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and Amasa the son of
Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
33 Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab, and upon the
