This document discusses how technology can contribute to social isolation and neurosis. It defines key terms and explores how social media, video games, and smartphones can be both beneficial and detrimental. While technology allows constant connection, it can replace face-to-face interaction and facilitate addiction and withdrawal symptoms. The document examines specific issues like cyberbullying, comparison on social media, and problems discerning reality from games. It concludes that technology has negatively impacted social connections, but also enables global communication. Moderation is important to balance benefits and risks of new technologies.

11. CONCLUSION
• Technology has obviously had a huge negative impact on social isolation and neurosis.
With the negative impact there has been positives that go with it as well, there is no way
to tell which ones have the most impact on us as a society.
• On the positive, with how convenient and accessible these technologies are, social
media, smart phones, and even video games are all very effective ways that keep us
connected to one another for profession, personal and educational reason. All these
contribute to us not feeling alone and can reach whoever we want to, when we want to
regardless of where we are in the world, which 30 years ago was non existent.
• With that being said with every positive traits, there are cons. Society is becoming so
global that we are forgetting about the people that are right in front of us. We can not
stop ourselves from looking at status updates from people that we have not seen since
high school and become better than the other person and make thing whole other life
online that we forget about reality and personal connections and focus on how many
followers or friends we have online. Video Games is also apart of this problem as a way
for players to escape their own reality from the comfort of their living room. These all
contribute to our feeling of social isolation and neurosis, by comparing our lives to others
through our computer, television, and smartphone screens.

Editor's Notes
With social media becoming more and more popular to stay in touch with family and friends, many people become addicted to checking their news feeds on the sites stated above that we see it as a way that we are involved in these peoples lives without actually even speaking to them months or years on end. Also people post things on their page to see how many “likes” or “shares” they get to feel some self-worth from these clicks that their friends or followers give them.
Video Games are also a way for people to escape the reality of their real lives. This is because a player can make characters in the game that they see as a reflection of their true self and feel like they are the ones experiencing the aspects of the game that they are playing. This will cause the player to avoid their real lif3e and focus on the life that they have created in the game because they feel that, the reality they created in the game is more important than their life in reality.
Cell Phones are becoming an issue because the issues with social media and video games can be connected to the cell phone issue because they are both accessible from the new smart phones available today. In the past 15 years we have undergone from major changes as a society but I feel personally the biggest change is cellphones/smartphones. I feel this way because we have become a society that will actually send text messages to a person in the same room, and that is completely normal for people to do. People would rather look at a screen a read the message then actually walk up and talk to the person face to face. Even a phone call is seen a personal thing to do with someone. For an example I called a friend of mine and he answered the phone ”what's wrong?”. Our society is so use to just sending text or Facebook messages that we see phone calls as an urgent matter that something must be wrong.
