2. Every minute spent on the web or using other
entertaining devices is another minute missed
living life.
This presentation will leave you with valid and
up to date information about the effects that
technology has on the human brain with
knowledge about the positive and negative
impacts we live with every day.

3. A relatively mild mental illness that
is not caused by organic disease, involving
symptoms of stress (depression, anxiety,
obsessive behavior, hypochondria)
Social isolation refers to a
complete or near-complete lack of contact
with society for members of a social species.

4. We isolate ourselves by walking around in our
own little world, listening to our iPods or staring
at the screen of the latest mobile device even
when we are around other people. Studies have
shown that people who are socially isolated will
live shorter lives (25 Negative Effects of
Technology, 2013).

5. Technology causes people to suffer from mental
and emotional disturbances, such as anxiety,
phobias and delusions, which are all symptoms
of neurosis. Being convinced you’re very ill after
looking up strange diseases on WebMD or
thinking you are famous because you have had a
viral video are a couple of ways technology
neurosis manifests itself

6. • This term is commonly used to describe a person that socially
Isolates themselves and spends the majority of their time reading
books and expanding their knowledge.
• Slowly the definition of a geek has become a person who socially
Isolates themselves and spends the majority of their time playing
video games or other technology based sources of entertainment
• Technology has become such a source of entertainment that kids
run away from home because their parents grounded them from
their Xbox. Many young males have made video games their best
friend because it does not involve getting judged and its within the
comfort of their own home

7. According to Cornell University's Steven Strogatz, social
media sites can make it make it more difficult for us to
distinguish between the meaningful relationships we
foster in the real world, and the numerous casual
relationships formed through social media. By focusing so
much of our time and psychic energy on these less
meaningful relationships, our most important
connections Mr. Strogatz fears, will weaken” (The

8. Within the last 20 years, children used to play outside all day, riding bikes, playing
sports and building forts. Masters of imaginary games, children of the past created
their own form of play that didn't require costly equipment or parental supervision
Four critical factors necessary to achieve healthy child development are movement,
touch, human connection, and exposure to nature. These types of sensory inputs
ensure normal development of posture, bilateral coordination, optimal arousal states
and self-regulation necessary for achieving foundation skills for eventual school entry.
Young children require 2-3 hours per day of active rough and tumble play to achieve
adequate sensory stimulation to their vestibular, proprioceptive and tactile systems
(Rowan, 2013). These vital growing experiences are being sacrificed by isolation due to
the heavy use of technologies that to children, seem a lot more appealing then leaving
the house to play.
Children are using more technology now than they have ever used in the past. All of
the negative effects that social media and television is having on adults are far greater
when it comes to the developing minds of children. There is no way to know what long
term effect technology will have on our children because this is the first generation to
have unlimited access(25 Negative Effects of Technology, 2013).

9. The Internet has revolutionized the way Canadians live and
communicate, but at a steep social cost, according to researchers
at the Stanford Institute. Compared to those who do not use the
Internet frequently, those who do—31 percent of the U.S.
population, according to the study—spend a whopping 70
minutes less daily interacting with family, 25 minutes less
sleeping (Dixon, 2005)

vaccination for prevention of infectious diseases, antiseptic surgery,
antibiotics, organ transplants
• Better nutrition, sanitation and personal hygiene (Powerpoint, 2014)
With the help of internet, we are able to learn new things and online courses
etc. With the help of aviation technology we are able to reach distant places
within hours which took years of time to reach in olden days. We are using
the all natural resources available for making our life better. With the help of
social networking we are able to find our childhood friends, relatives etc. and
important events in their life. With the help of information technology we are
able to share information to any part of the world with in milliseconds. With
progressive technology in the agriculture field, we are able to meet food
requirements of people all over the world(Positive & Negative Effects Of
Technology On Our Lives, 2013)

13. I hope this slideshow has provided you with the information
needed to help you better understand how technology creates
social isolation and neurosis. I have given you definitions,
information regarding Neurosis and isolation, negative impacts
technology has had on us, technology on the developing child,
statistics from the institute of Stanford, two videos and lastly
some benefits that technology has on society. Hopefully all of
this has opened your eyes on the impact technology has had on
this generation and how it can directly affect our children and
grandchildren. This world Is evolving and developing every single
day with both positive and negative changes. How we choose to
let these sources affect our lives is up to us. Take precautions,
manage your time efficiently, and never forget how important
face to face contact is.
