10th class model questions paper according to CCE rules section wise....both internals and external allotted marks

1. 10th English model question paper for Telangana, according to changed new syllabus 2014
external marks 80
internals marks 20
20 internal marks : 4 formative assessments FAs, Each FA is lessened to 5 marks and all 4 FAs are
added for 20 marks. As of now 7/20 is pass marks in internals ( Note: According to draft proposal its
different, wants to avoid internals and take only external marks into consideration, lets c wht
happens, decision is yet to come within few days )
a.Students reflections 10 m
b. Written works : 10 m
c. Project works : 10 m
d. slip test :20m
80 external marks includes 3 sections A, B, C, only SINGLE paper, time 3hrs 15 min. 15 minutes is
for reading question paper. 28/80 is pass marks.
summative assessment is done 3 times, SA1 previously quarterly, SA2 previously half yearly, SA3,
previously annual, now external exam. Summative assessments SA1 AND SA2 are carried to get
awareness on new changed syllabus.
Summative assessment includes 3 parts
Reading comprehension section A
vocabulary and grammar section B
creative writing ( discourses ) section C
1) section A... 30 marks
4 passages will be given, 2 from text book and 2 unseen passages

a. PASSAGE from text book, 200-250 words will be given, ask 4 multiple choice questions each
carrying one mark.
b. SHORT QUESTIONS :Answers should be given in one word or a sentence, each question carry's
2 marks.
c. PASSAGE from text book, 100-120 words will be given, ask 3 multiple choice questions carrying
one mark for each
d. 2 short questions: answers should be written in a word or a sentence each question carry's one
mark. ( from poetry , B/C reading)
II
a. UNSEEN PASSAGE: 200-250 words, 4 multiple choice questions will be given each carrying one
mark
b. SHORT QUESTIONS: 3 short questions carrying one 2 marks, answers should be in one or two
sentences.
c. UNSEEN PASSAGE: 100-250 words, 3 multiple choice questions carrying one mark for each
question

2. d. 2 SHORT QUESTIONS: in one or two sentences carrying 2 marks.
2)SECTION B.....20 marks
4 passages, 2 from text and 2 from unseen, each carrying 5 marks.
a. passage from text book will be given. Wrong miss-pelt words, errors will be there. Correct
words/phrases/sentences should be written
b. passage from text book: blanks will be given, student has to choose from the words given below
and write in the correct blanks numbered. (cloze test)
c. passage from unseen one: similar to (a) ie, finding errors
d. passage from unseen one: similar to (b) ie, blanks, choose the right words given to fill the blanks
(cloze test)
3)SECTION C....30marks
4 questions will be given in this section to assess writing skills through discourses. Group A and
Group B ( 2 major and 2 minor discourses )
Minor discourses include : Story/narrative,conversation,description,drama,script/play,
interview,choreography,
Major discourses include:Biography,essay,report,news report, letter, speech (script)
MAJOR DISCOURSES with choice
Group A : 2 Major discourses will be given from passage/news report/biography etc to write any one.
( choice is given here one out of two questions should be answered ) 10 marks
Group B: 2 major discourses will be given from picture/image. ( choice is given here one out of two
questions should be answered) 10 marks
MINOR DISCOURSES with out choice
Group A: message, notice and diary in the form of narrative. No choice 5 marks
Group B: Poster, invitation and profile. I situation will be given and asked to write about it. 5 marks
