It is situated in the
central Greece and it’s
the capital of the
prefecture of Viotia, our
hometown, Levadia. Levadia: a town with about
31,000 inhabitants, it has
been characterized as a
special destination by many
artists throughout the
centuries.

4. Notable elements of the area

Trees, stone bridges, watermills and small waterfalls
make up the landscape of Kria. The river that crosses
this part is called Erkyna and is directly connected to the
oracle of Zeus Trophonius.

number one tourist attraction and also the
favorite area of the habitants

6. Easter in Levadia
.
It’s an orthodox religious tradition called Paska.
We celebrate it in a more vivid way. As a custom
families from the whole town gather at the centre
of Levadia and grill lambs in ‘Lakkous’.

The village of Arahova: a skiing resort, and one
of the most popular destinations for winter
tourism in Greece in the slopes of the Parnassos
mountain.

Tourism is also lively in the archaeological site of
Delpi (UNESCO Cultural Heritage site), the
Byzantine monastery of Osios Luckas (UNESCO
Cultural Heritage site) and the seaside towns.

10. The economy of Viotia
.
Agriculture makes an important economic development, from the beginning of the region’s economic
output. Especially after the successful drying of the lake Copaida in 1931, the area is available for
tillage.
The industry of the region made export in rice, wheat, wool and cotton. Generally, it is also the
second largest bauxite producer in Greece and in Europe. With heavy industry especially in the
metallurgy sector (alumina and aluminum production) the region is one of the strongest pillars of
Greek economy developing pioneering know-how at a global level.
