The document discusses the components of network analysis, including events/nodes and activities. Events/nodes represent milestones in a project that occur at a specific point in time, such as the start or end of an activity, and are represented by circles. Activities are the basic tasks performed in a project that consume time and/or resources, such as digging or plastering, and are represented by arrows. The document provides examples of event and activity types and explains that activities have predecessor and successor relationships.

Network Components
Events/Nodes:
• These are milestones of the project and occur at a
particular point of time.
• They only Represent Start or End of a particular activity
and hence do not consume time or resources.
• Represented by Circle in Network Diagrams.
• Types: a) Burst Event, b) Merge Event, c) Burst & Merge
Event.
• Example: a) Start of Digging activity, b) End of Plaster
etc.

ACTIVITIES:
• These are the basic project operations or tasks to be
performed.
• Activities (Except Dummy Activities) consume time and/or
resources.
• Represented by Arrows or Arcs.
• TYPES:
a) Predecessor or Preceding Activity and
b) Successor or Succeeding Activity.
• EXAMPLE:
a) Digging activity,
b) Plaster Activity etc.
