2. Born and raised in
Baarn in the
Netherlands. As a child
Mirjam always played
outdoors and could be
found with all the little
creepy-crawlers that
can be found in the
ground. In 1982 at the
age of three she had her
first vegetable garden in
the backyard.
Now at age 39 her love for
nature is taking shape by
traveling and visiting some
of the oldest wine countries
in the world like Bulgara
and Macedonia. Here she
visits the wineries and
vineyards and laerning
about viticulture.
After 20 years of studying
wine, traveling and tasting
more than 1000 wines in
one year of study, she
graduated from the WSET
level 4 Diploma course. In
this field of wine there was
only one study programme
left in The Netherlands and
that is the Magister Vini title.
Mirjam started this in 2015
and is aiming to complete a
master thesis in 2018/2019
on the subject of wine from
Eastern Europe.).
Getting to this point of
almost becoming one of the
only 20 people who untill
now have passed the
Magister Vini exams and one
of the 120 students who
have graduated from the
WSET Level 4 Diploma
course in the history of the
Benelux, with wine educator
WineWise.

Working as a wine expert (wine
consultant) has given Mirjam
the opportunity to travel and
visit more than 25 countries in
Europe. With all this traveling
the expertise and love for
Eastern Europe came to be.
Countries like Macedonia,
Bulgaria and Moldova are
regularly visited. This gives
Mirjam an unique view on the
wines from Eastern Europe and
their place in the world wine
market. This knowledge
translates into the consultancy
for wineproducers, importers,
distributors, hotels and
restaurants in helping them
educate their staff and create
their wine portfolio.
But there is one more thing!
Whilst traveling in these
countries, she met a lot of
amazing people that weren’t
as fortunate as her. It was
challenging for her to live her
dream as they could not even
rent a house for themselves.
That is why she loves doing
projects with a purpose. This
means doing a projects that
contribute to the community
and people that live there...
4. “I love to see the smile of people.
I love to smell the winecellars right after
the harvest.
I enjoyed the lessons from the greatest’s
specialists in the world, but let’s all not
forget to enjoy a good glass of wine.
Because life is too short to drink bad
wine. Cheers!”

Last but not least I like to thank my family and friends
that believed in me because without them I would not
be living my dreams. I like to thank the people who
showed me how simple life can be as long as you enjoy
every moment.•
