1. Our Christmas Traditions
( We will talk about the
traditional night of Christmas in
Portugal, specifically in our village,
Mira d'Aire. )

2. Christmas Eve ...
In our village it is usual go to ignite the bonfire
and socialize with each other. Soon after, each
person goes to their house and has a supper
with the family, then there are midnight
opening gifts, but some prefer going to the
midnight mass.
3. Traditional Food
• On this night it is customary to eat: cod
with potatoes, roast turkey in the oven
with potatoes, cabbage, etc…
• For dessert: “Filhoses”, Christmas Trunk,
flavoured biscuits, “Rabanadas”, etc ...
8. Christmas Day
On Christmas day the families join together,
some usually have lunch at the restaurant
and others stay at home with their families.
It is a great opportunity to be with the
family, so we do everything to be together
on this special day.
