2. ASA (Advertising Standards Authority):
Role:
To manage all advertisement in different parts of the world. ASA is a non statutory organization
therefore it cant interpret or force their rules and regulations. However, its code of advertising
broadly reflects legislation in many instances.
Legal powers:
ASA do not have much legal power, as in they cant enforce law onto other companies as there a non
statutory organization. Also it is not funded by the government but by a levy on the advertising
industry.

Press ads, Radio and TV ads (including teleshopping presentations),Ads on the internet,
and tablets, Ad claims on companies’ own websites, Commercial e-mail and text messages,
Posters/billboards, Leaflets and brochures ,Ads at the cinema , Direct mail whether addressed to you

3. BBFC-(British Board Of Film Classification):
Role:
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), previously the British Board of Film Censors, is a non-
governmental organization, founded by the film industry in 1912 and responsible for the national
classification and censorship of films exhibited at cinemas and video works.
Legal powers:
Trading Standards and law enforcement officers have the power to seize illegal video works including
DVDs, Blu-rays and video games. The BBFC is designated by the Department of Culture, Media and
to provide evidence to help secure convictions under the terms of the Video Recordings Act (VRA)

Cinema films, videos, games.
4. PEGI-(Pan European Game Information):
Roles:
Pan European Game Information (PEGI) is a European video game content rating system established to help
European consumers make informed decisions when buying video games or apps through the use of age
recommendations and content descriptors.
Legal powers:
VSC is the leading PEGI authority, rating all video games aged 12 and above in 30 countries. By making PEGI
legally enforceable in the UK, the Government has shown that it is determined to protect children, help parents
make informed decisions and deliver consistency in games rating.“

5. Ofcom:
Roles:
Ofcom has wide-ranging powers across the television, radio, telecoms and postal sectors. It has a statutory duty to
represent the interests of citizens and consumers by promoting competition and protecting the public from
or offensive material.
