I took a survey in class and I find out my listening style is People Oriented Listeners. And below are the positive and negative characteristics for the style that need to apply in the essay. Positive Characteristics -Care and are concerned for others; -Are nonjudgmental; -Provide clear verbal and nonverbal feedback signals; -Identify emotional states of others; -Are interested in building relationships; and -Notice others moods quickly. Negative Characteristics -Are over involved with feelings of others; -Avoid seeing faults in others; -Internalize/Adopt emotional states of others; -Are intrusive with others; -Are overly expressive when giving feedback; and -Are nondiscriminating in building relationships Solution People use different type of listening styles while listening to others. These styles include, people oriented listening style, content oriented listening style, action oriented listening style and time oriented listening style. People with people oriented listening style have strong concern for others and their feelings. They are externally focused and give importance to relationships. They are interested in building relationships and notice other moods in less time. This type of people faces problems when they are deeply involved with others. As a result, they think and act as per them. This hampers their judgment skills and ability to distinguish while building relationships..
