BAJAJ CASE STUDY
1. What challenges confronted BAL and which were of its own making?
In 1980s, the government's impact was the most challenging factor confronting BAL. It witnessed an increase in both foreign and domestic
competitors because of the Indian government's permission of foreign technology and local manufacturing capacity expansion. Accordingly, Japanese
products were more preferred than domestic brands due to its durability and eye–catching design. Apart from Yamaha, Suzuki, and Piaggio, Honda who
took out the major market share of BAL scooter and motorcycle segments was its fiercest rival.
Since 1990, due to the economic downturn, two–wheelers vehicles were no longer the first prioritized consumer products but TVs, VCRs, ... Show more

They had found that this target market predominantly valued the purchasing – maintenance cost and the low fuel consumption. BAL also penetrated
secondary market to buy BAL's used vehicles with higher price.
In order to match consumers' want, BAL reorganized its structure to obtain better cross–functional cooperation among Marketing, R&D and Production
departments. New products were introduced periodically and spare parts were sold nation–wide with low cost, which reinforced BAL's
competitiveness. Beside strengthening cost advantage, they established a technology acquisition agreement with Orbital, which provided solutions to
improve fuel efficiency and decrease emission levels.
In order to enhance the competency in distribution, BAL connected with private transport companies and trained dealers' staff to improve their
technical capability. BAL also supported their dealers in planning sales targets for specific products, services and advertising. Regarding developing
dealer network, regional depots were built up to quicken inventory turnover and supply a full range of two and three wheelers, hence encouraging
dealer loyalty.
In addition, BAL provided customers with consumer finance to purchase vehicles by establishing the Bajaj Auto Finance Ltd. Finally, BAL executives
invested more in Marketing Department to secure brand awareness and preference as well as to introduce new vehicles. BAL not only broadcast their

Two major results of policy changes during these years in two–wheeler industry were that the, weaker players died out giving way to the new entrants
and superior products and a sizeable increase in number of brands entered the market that compelled the firms to compete on the basis of product
attributes. Finally, the two–В¬wheeler industry in the country has been able to witness a proliferation of brands with introduction of new technology
as well as increase in number of players. Initially the industry primarily had Enfield Bikes (350cc) and Escort (175cc), and after the 1980s, when the
market was opened up, the competition started flowing in with Hero Honda( a JV), TVS, Suzuki. The companies initially started off with assembling
the completely knocked down units that were imported from other countries and then gradually started domestic production in India. Majority of
Indians, especially the youth prefer 2–wheelers rather than cars as they help in easy and cheaper commutation. Demand and Supply Position for
Two–Wheelers The composition of the two–wheeler industry has witnessed sea changes in the post–reform period. In 1991, the share of scooters was
about 50 per cent of the total 2–wheeler demand in the Indian market. Motorcycle and moped had been experiencing almost equal level of shares in the
total number of two–wheelers. In 2003–04, the share of motorcycles increased to 78 per cent of the total two–wheelers while the shares of scooters and

Alisha Abdullah: India's First and Only Female Motorcycle...
A Fast Woman in a Man's World
The go–fast girl from south central Asia, Alisha Abdullah, is officially the first and only female professional motorcycle racer in India. It is
extraordinarily difficult for women to achieve success in any career in male–dominated India, one of the most female–oppressive countries in the
world. Additionally, Ms. Abdullah faces consternation among Muslim men, who base their mistreatment of females on their religious beliefs. When
asked how she feels about the uphill struggle she endures, Alisha said, "It's all in your mind! Nothing is impossible! I got put down, mocked, and what
not, but I believe that's how you become stronger." (1)

Don't Forget to Bring the Right Gear Along
Before you head out for Track Day you should check with the school about allowable or recommended riding apparel and/or motorcycle
modifications (if you're taking your own bike ). In addition to renting the bikes, most, if not all, operators will have proper equipment available for
rent. If your stuff doesn't meet the guidelines, you can save money on anything you need in the way of motorcycle accessories at BikeBandit, one of
the biggest motorcycle parts distributors on the internet. (5) A word of advice for before you're on the track, going 200 mph: equip yourself with the
most expensive personal safety items you can afford, then raise the price by 10 percent. Withmotorcycle racing accoutrements, you usually do get
what you pay for, so generally the more it costs the better it is.

You should join one or more of the national racing organizations in order to participate in their rides and races. One is the American Motorcyclist

It might not always be practical to deal with all customers' queries within the space of a few hours, but at least email or call them back and let
them know you've received their message and you'll contact them about it as soon as possible. Even if you're not able to solve a problem right
away, let the customer know you're working on it. 3. Be Friendly and Approachable A fellow Site Pointer once told me that you can hear a smile
through the phone. This is very true. It's very important to be friendly, courteous and to make your clients feel like you're their friend and you're there
to help them out. There will be times when you want to beat your clients over the head repeatedly with a blunt object – it happens to all of us. It's vital
that you keep a clear head, respond to your clients' wishes as best you can, and at all times remain polite and courteous. 4. Have a Clearly–Defined
Customer Service Policy This may not be too important when you're just starting out, but a clearly defined customer service policy is going to save
you a lot of time and effort in the long run. If a customer has a problem, what should they do? If the first option doesn't work, then what? Should they
contact different people for billing and technical enquiries? If they're not satisfied with any aspect of your customer service, who should they tell?
There's nothing more annoying for a client than being passed from person to person, or not

Informative Essay On Stock Car Racing And NASCAR
You're driving down the straight stretch at 200 mph, slowing down for one of the three left hand turns; you're surrounded by other cars all doing the
same things, all trying to achieve the same goal: to be the first racer to cross the checkered line. The sport, is called NASCAR, it attracts hundreds of
thousands of people to watch each and every race. NASCAR was started by back country bootleggers in Georgia; in late 1947, a meeting was held to
discuss the future of stock car racing, and NASCAR was conceived. It takes extreme skill to race in the NASCAR world; it is a crazy fast paced sport
that has an incredible, humble beginning.

The group entered India in 2001 with Skoda. Its plant in Aurangabad assembled a few models of Audi and
Volkswagen as well. Audi and Volkswagen were launched in India in 2004 and 2007, respectively. In 2010, a stateof

set up at Chakan near Pune with an investment of Rs. 35 billion to manufacture Polo and Vento indigenously. The plant also manufactured Skoda Fabia
and Skoda Rapid as they were built on the Polo platform. Despite sharing common product platforms, the three brands were distinctly positioned.
Skoda was positioned as less premium than VW which was positioned as more premium than even Honda and
Toyota. Audi was positioned at par with BMW and Mercedes in the luxury category (see Exhibit 2 for positioning of various players). While the group
integrated the back–end of technology, human resource, and finance across the three brands, the front–end of dealers was scrupulously kept separate.
Despite its careful planning, there existed an anomaly. Skoda was perceived to be a more up–market label than VW in
India. This was owing to Skoda's history in India. Skoda was launched in 2001 with the Octavia, a premium car.

Art Of Racing In The Rain Analysis
In Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein, Enzo's epiphany was that being selfish is the way for a racer to win was proven wrong. In this scene,
Enzo is listening to his owner, Denny, having a conversation with his wife Eve about the racing competition that he finished. Denny however, wasn't
able to finish the race due to a minor accident. Enzo heard something that Denny said that reminded him of a lesson for racing. "If it was anybody's fault
Denny said "it was mine for being where I could get collected." This is something I'd heard him say before: getting angry at another for a driving
incident pointless. You need to watch drivers around you understand their skill confidence and aggression levels, and drive with them accordingly.
(Stein 91) This evidence shows how Enzo remembered on what Denny said about driving. This is a very important skill to remember when your
racing. It tells you that you can't be selfish when racing. In a way you have to look out for others people before yourself in order to win the race.
Enzo uses this to realize that you can be selfish driving because when you do you become too distracted and will end up losing. When Enzo said it
was pointless, it gave the definition of this word its actual meaning. It was pointless for Denny to get angry because it can cause the lost of the race. It
could also mean it is pointless to be selfish and unaware of your surroundings.
Another piece of evidence is when Enzo narrates and gives information about how race

Racecars Movies Are Just Not About Racing
Pixar created a virtual world of toys by creating Toy Story and later created a virtual world of cars through the box office hit Cars. Lightening
McQueen is a showstopper for sure but he is not just one of the main characters or should I say cars that make this an enjoyable movie people both
alike and different would watch countless times. The story line is Lightening McQueen's journey along the way of winning a Piston Cup. Although all
of these movie posters of Pixar's animated movie Cars come from the same movie, these examples show that publishing companies use various scenes,

The road the cars are positioned on is a road that goes through the famous town known as Radiator Springs. A Grand Canyon like, rustic, red rock
desert scenery complete with an almost sun setting sky finishes off the background.
This particular movie poster will appear interesting to not only racecar fanatics but also adventurous spirited people, because of the desert like
scenery in the back, because clearly a racecar does not belong in that type of landscape. It also appears appealing to the ones who desire mystery, the
ones who must find out why a famous racecar is hanging out with cars from a run down desert town. Those movie watchers that seek a movie with a
sense of community and friendship involved will be intrigued by this particular cover because of all the other cars in the back.
Just like the previous movie poster Lightening McQueen is in the same position, in the very center smiling. He once again is the center of attention or
star of the show with the other cars behind him with slightly lighter paint jobs. The red coloring contrasts nicely once again with the ever–present
famous Cars movie logo. Instead of this background being the town of Radiator Springs this particular poster is posited at a racetrack. The sky is once
again just before sunset with a faint yellow beginning just above the top of the stands with that turns into a bluish purple with a pink in between. The

goal when driving a racecar is to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. They drive endless loops of a racing circuit to improve previous lap
times by milliseconds, just to say they were the fastest. This is something that few understand, and racecar drivers have difficulty explaining why this
is their passion to others. It's almost as if they are looking into a different boxcar than others. Sometimes when people think of a racecar driver, they
think, "Can't anyone drive a car?" or "Oh driving in circles like NASCAR? That must be easy." These answers couldn't be farther from the reality, and
it's astonishing how unknown the world of auto racing is to many people. Racing is not just driving per se. Racing is the art of driving fast with a
bunch of other like–minded idiots, who all risk their lives with the, widely misunderstood, willingness to endanger their life just to say they beat the
other guy. Racing and racecar drivers are entirely different from driving on the street in a countless number of ways.
Throughout this paper a street driver will refer to someone who is not a racecar driver, and a racecar driver will refer to someone who races cars.

I'M Not Knowledgeable About The Inner Workings Of Car...
I 'm not knowledgeable about the inner workings of car dealerships. I only know of them through my experience as a consumer, but it seems obvious
to me that the way to survive this recession is to maintain a customer base. The best way I know of doing that is through customer service, which
unfortunately is given much lip service, but not much actual practice in my experience. My last car purchase was from a company that invited new
car buyers to a catered supper within three months after the purchase. It seemed like an expensive perk to offer customers, but it was easy to see how
it improved customer relations. During the program, the service manager gave several tips about maintaining the new cars, maintenance schedules and

I have a keen interest in all motorsports; I play a lot of motorsport games on PlayStation. I don't get much time to follow the motorsport statistics and

In general, I like to be involved in all kinds of water sports. Formula one Powerboat racing is my favorite and the most interesting part which

Motorbikes are a major segment of Indian two wheeler industry, the other two being scooters and mopeds. Indian companies are among the largest

In the initial stages, the scooter segment was dominated by API; it was later overtaken by Bajaj Auto and LML. Although various government and

The motorcycle segment was initially dominated by Enfield 350cc bikes and Escorts 175cc bike.
The two–wheeler market was opened to foreign competition in the mid–80s. And the then market leaders – Escorts and Enfield – were caught unaware

How To Write A Drag Racing Essay
Drag Racing
Drag racing is a form of racing in which two cars line up at the same place, and race each other down a straight track. The first one to cross the finish
line wins.
Starting
If you want to start drag racing, which I personally think is very hard, you've got to have some money. Things you'll need are a trailer, some
options of different kinds of trailers are an open trailer, (about $2,500), or an enclosed trailer, (about $5,000), or if you have more than one car that
you want to take, you could get a stacker trailer. A stacker trailer is trailer with a lift that you can drive a car onto and then lift it up in the air and it
will stay there and then you can drive another car in underneath it. Those usually cost about $20,000.My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you go to a small race track, most of the time you'll know all of the staff, workers, and other racers. My advice for you is to become involved with
helping out at the track. If a worker or staff member needs help with something, you should help out. Not only will you get a good reputation there,
but you'll be liked more and can even get some benefits such as being able to come into the track and practice. If another racer needs a part, and
you have an extra, why not let them borrow it? It will once again help your reputation out. Plus, if your car ever breaks and you need a part, they will
most likely pay you back and let you borrow the part you need.
Racing
And now for the fun – Racing. There is more to drag racing then there seems. It's not just smash your foot to the floor and drive straight. There's
way more to it. You have to have your car tuned right, and make sure that everything is working well on your car, plus you need to be maintaining
your car, and you need to be figuring out your dial in. The dial in is the elapsed time you think your car will run (usually to the hundredth of the
second). If you go faster then your dial in, then you break out, which means you are disqualified. For example, if you dialed a 4.00 and ran a 3.99
you would have broken out, and you would be done racing for that class for the day. And then you

Capital City Of Maharashtra
Abstract:
Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra, experienced unprecedented floods on 26th and 27th July 2005 bringing the entire city to standstill for two
days. In span of 24 hours the Santa Cruz observatory at Mumbai airport recorded 944 mm of rain, which is highest recorded data for city in a day. The
flood caused direct economic damages of about $2 billion and over 500 fatalities. The flood also caused several infrastructural damages, over 2,000
buildings were completely destroyed and 50,000 were partially damaged, around 40,000 auto rickshaws and taxis were spoiled, several thousand
trucks and 850 BEST buses were damaged and local train and railway network of the city was also affected. The main cause behind such a huge loss
was over population and rapid urbanization. Mumbai, along with its neighbouring suburbs is the world's sixth most populated metropolitan area
with the population of around 19 million (MMRDA, 2003). The average population density is 27,209 persons per km2 .Due to the lack of
availability of safe land the economically backward people live in slums which are low lying and flood prone. Thus the maximum loss due to the
flood was barred by the people living in these low lying slums. The purpose of this research is to calculate the economic loss to the self employed
people and the people with micro enterprise living in these slums.

(NHRA) was created to ensure that there... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This would ensure that the racing was protected, and it is still around today. The NHRA helped gain respect for drag racing. I think that the NHRA
was a great start for racing. It helped organize races and make it more respectable to people who may not understand the love and passion some
have for racing. The NHRA used their "safety safari" to go all over the country to hot rod races, teaching them everything from selling tickets to the
safety of racing the hot rods. I think that this really helped racing take off. These people have now learned how to make the sport safer and gain
money in order to proceed with their passion for racing. This also helped the racers gain sponsors such as Coca–Cola and Pepsi. Racing relies off of
sponsors now. There has been so many technological advancements in racing, that not the average person can afford to go out and be competitive
enough to win without help. When I think about sponsors for racing, almost every single huge corporation sponsors some sort of race car. The
racers are helping the sponsors get more business, while the sponsors support the race car driver so they can make it to the track. My family has a
deep history in open wheel dirt track racing, and they would not have been able to compete for so long without the help of sponsors. Racing had
now become some people's way of making a living. They were able to make enough money to support themselves, but still struggled trying to get to
and from each race. The NHRA toured to England to expand the racing dream to people all over the world. I think this was a great move by the
NHRA because the more people that are interested the more money involved. This video only proves that racing is advancing and becoming more
enjoyed all over the

Automotive Technician Needing Computer Based Training
Like nearly every other professional today, automotive technicians need to be comfortable with computer–based equipment. Cars are more
computerized than ever before. It takes more than just mechanical know–how and the turning of a wrench to become a certified automotive technician.
Experienced technicians can work anywhere in the country along with the right mindset and attitude. Irrefutably the more educated you are, the better
your opportunities are to find employment. You will also learn that most of what you need to know will be from doing hands on work, like working
in the shop, or watching others do it hands on. As with everything, it starts with a high school diploma. If you do not have at least a... Show more

As with any other job, this one changes with time and technology. Some people can get jobs 2 days after receiving their diploma; some take longer
to find one. If you cannot find a job, try going back to the college you attended to see if they have any leads, some people have also said that they do
not help but it definitely does not hurt to try. (Satterfield) This field takes a special person. Every driver has been through it at least one time in their
life; the engine that will not crank start, the check engine light that keeps flashing at you every time you start your car, there is the dead battery, brakes
that just don't apply or they make a high pitched squeal. These are unavoidable moments for anyone that owns a machine that house and engine.
Technicians deal with these instants every day, and this is what makes them extraordinary. Although technicians do not go to school for their English or
their ability to speak and interact with customers, they need to be very good at both. Everyday technicians will speak with customers, so the techs
need to come across as professional and smart. Techs also need to know how to comfort the customers to make them feel like they and their vehicle are
in good hands. (Automotive Service Technicians and Mechanics) Technicians also need to have faith in their tools and know that they will perform at
their full potential. If one is not, then the technician needs to figure out

  • 2. Bajaj Auto Ltd BAJAJ CASE STUDY 1. What challenges confronted BAL and which were of its own making? In 1980s, the government's impact was the most challenging factor confronting BAL. It witnessed an increase in both foreign and domestic competitors because of the Indian government's permission of foreign technology and local manufacturing capacity expansion. Accordingly, Japanese products were more preferred than domestic brands due to its durability and eye–catching design. Apart from Yamaha, Suzuki, and Piaggio, Honda who took out the major market share of BAL scooter and motorcycle segments was its fiercest rival. Since 1990, due to the economic downturn, two–wheelers vehicles were no longer the first prioritized consumer products but TVs, VCRs, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They had found that this target market predominantly valued the purchasing – maintenance cost and the low fuel consumption. BAL also penetrated secondary market to buy BAL's used vehicles with higher price. In order to match consumers' want, BAL reorganized its structure to obtain better cross–functional cooperation among Marketing, R&D and Production departments. New products were introduced periodically and spare parts were sold nation–wide with low cost, which reinforced BAL's competitiveness. Beside strengthening cost advantage, they established a technology acquisition agreement with Orbital, which provided solutions to improve fuel efficiency and decrease emission levels. In order to enhance the competency in distribution, BAL connected with private transport companies and trained dealers' staff to improve their technical capability. BAL also supported their dealers in planning sales targets for specific products, services and advertising. Regarding developing dealer network, regional depots were built up to quicken inventory turnover and supply a full range of two and three wheelers, hence encouraging dealer loyalty. In addition, BAL provided customers with consumer finance to purchase vehicles by establishing the Bajaj Auto Finance Ltd. Finally, BAL executives invested more in Marketing Department to secure brand awareness and preference as well as to introduce new vehicles. BAL not only broadcast their commercials ... Initially the industry primarily had Enfield Bikes (350cc) and Escort (175cc), and after the 1980s, when the market was opened up, the competition started flowing in with Hero Honda( a JV), TVS, Suzuki. The companies initially started off with assembling the completely knocked down units that were imported from other countries and then gradually started domestic production in India. Majority of Indians, especially the youth prefer 2–wheelers rather than cars as they help in easy and cheaper commutation. Demand and Supply Position for Two–Wheelers The composition of the two–wheeler industry has witnessed sea changes in the post–reform period. In 1991, the share of scooters was about 50 per cent of the total 2–wheeler demand in the Indian market. Motorcycle and moped had been experiencing almost equal level of shares in the total number of two–wheelers. • 21. Racecar Drivers Vs Car Driving "Driving in circles" is often one of the first things that comes to mind when someone hears the word racecar driver. However, "driving in circles" is nowhere near a complete explanation of what a racecar driver can do. Most people know racecar drivers drive with the purpose of going fast. Their goal when driving a racecar is to get from point A to point B as fast as possible. They drive endless loops of a racing circuit to improve previous lap times by milliseconds, just to say they were the fastest. This is something that few understand, and racecar drivers have difficulty explaining why this is their passion to others. It's almost as if they are looking into a different boxcar than others. Sometimes when people think of a racecar driver, they think, "Can't anyone drive a car?" or "Oh driving in circles like NASCAR? That must be easy." These answers couldn't be farther from the reality, and it's astonishing how unknown the world of auto racing is to many people. Racing is not just driving per se. Racing is the art of driving fast with a bunch of other like–minded idiots, who all risk their lives with the, widely misunderstood, willingness to endanger their life just to say they beat the other guy.
