Evaluation question 3 - What
have you learned from your
    audience feedback?
 Audience feedback has been vital throughout the entire process of
making a music video. Feedback from your target audience is
important because you are trying to sell your product to them so
whatever changes they suggest it is important you take them into
account and you need to make sure they actually like the product
you are creating to try and sell to them. The first piece of audience
feedback I gathered was before I even started filming my music
video. I asked a number of members from my target audience to
look through all the ideas I have for my music video and asked them
to tell me what they liked and what they didnt like and whether they
thought the idea would work and how it appeals to them. Below is a
    link to this feedback

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?
    v=cAtqZE5QEck&feature=player_embedded

 This feedback was very important because they each told me they
liked the idea and that they thought it worked well. They also said
that it was a clear genre and they liked the costume, props and
location ideas. This feedback was all very important because I then
knew that my idea of creating a 'boyband' music video would work
well and would appeal to my target audience.
 Once I had started filming I posted a section of my video each time i had
been filming and asked for feedback on that section before i went out and
filmed the next part. I found this very helpful as it allowed me to get
feedback throughout the stages of creating my video, instead of creating the
whole thing and then doing feedback and finding out your target audience
dont like a lot about your product. Below is the feedback i received after
posting the first section of my music video.
I was very pleased with this feedback as it
came with many positive points. A lot of them
said that they liked things like the lip syncing,
eye contact with the camera and they liked
the black and white editing so i needed to
make sure i carried these on when i filmed
the next section of my music video. The
feedback also said that they would like to see
more locations in the next section of my film,
more eye contact with the camera and they
would like to see the band members doing
more during the video. I took these ideas into
account and tried to make them happen when
 i filmed the next section.
 After filming the second section of my
music video I again gathered a number of
my target audience to give me feedback
on it. Below is the feedback I received.
 Again i was very pleased with the feedback i
received so i knew i had to carry on doing what i
was doing. I was very pleased that a lot of the
target audience said they now liked the changes
in location and they liked the amount of eye
contact in the video. This was good because i
knew that i had fixed the negative points that i
received when i posted the first section of my
music video up. The negative feedback i
received was that i should slow down some
more of the shots to create a more emotional
atmosphere, they also thought that the framing
of some of my shots was a bit poor.

 When i filmed the last section of my music video i tried to make sure the framing of my shots
improved and that when i was editing i should add more slow motion shots because thats what
my target audience wanted. i also needed to maintain the varied locations and the eye contact
with the camera because they seemed to really like that. Below is the feedback i received when i
showed the final section of my music video.
 Positive
 Good varied shots
 good costume and props
 nice eye contact with the camera
 very good actors (band members)
 very clear genre
 very emotional
 good locations
 nice lip syncing
 stuck to the conventions of genre all the way through
 'looks like a real music video'
 great song choice
 really like the editing - creates sense of emotion
 good use of colour shots and black and white shots
 Negative
 the video ends a bit suddenly
 still could do with some more locations
 sometimes the shots are too slow and makes the shot last a bit too long
 The fact that my last piece of feedback
given had very little negative feedback
shows that I took all the feedback given
into account and it worked effectively
because my target audience are now all
giving very positive feedback back to me.

Evaluation question 3 what have you learned

  • 1. Evaluation question 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?
  • 2. Audience feedback has been vital throughout the entire process of making a music video.
