From this data you can see I asked 20 people, I tried to get as many
different people as possible but it is hard so I resorted to family and
friends. From this chart you are able to see the amount of people that I
had given a questionnaire to from each different age category, but you
are also able to see how many of those people are male and how many
of them are female.

As you can see from this chart I have done the same chart as in the
previous as it allows you to see the number of people who prefer that
category and whether or not they were male or female. This was
interesting, especially when it comes to indie alternative as I expected
there to be a lot less in that section as it is “alternative”, however they were
friends, so they are bound to have similar interest/taste to myself.
9. How do you download your music?

From this we can see that a quarter of the people who answered my questionnaire
said that they buy their music in store on CD/Album, which is surprising because
technology has advanced so much you would assume that it would be done online a
lot more, however when I looked at who bought in store, it was the over 31’s but
also the teenagers who specifically listen to indie/alternative music, this shows that
maybe this is an ‘indie’ thing to do, have a collection of CD’s and be a bit more old
fashioned and different compared to the people who listen to pop etc who buy
online or download illegally, I also think this has something to do with keeping their
bands going, buy buying their music they’re showing their appreciation for the
music. Only 3 people admitted to downloading music illegally and 2 people said
they buy online via such things as i-Tunes.
11. This question was a more open question, I gave some
examples of what I meant by this and then let the
person answer say what they thought, a lot of the
people who liked indie and rock said that they liked
the randomness, the band actually playing as it
reminds them of gigs and makes them excited or
seeing things that they want to do/be a part of. The
people who said pop said they would like a story line
and their favourite celebrities, the people who liked
RnB also said they’d like to see celebrities on there.
The person(s) who said country said they liked to see
either a storyline or the person performing.
13. This was another open question I has asked, all of it
was very useful to read as it gave me an insight into
what grabbed peoples attention and made them like
specific videos and is something that I will use to help
my music video be a lot better.
14. QUESTION 7
What type of things would you expect to see from a
typical ‘indie’ music video?
15. This question was yet another open question and
allowed me to understand what different people
thought but in particular how people within that
genre thought and if they thought similar things, to
my surprise the older and younger people didn’t
know what to say, but the people whose favourite
genre it was said that they expected a certain type
of dress and hair, such as the short back and sides
slick look or the longer messier rockish looking
hair, the clothes would be quite grungey but at the
same time quite clean cut but scruffy, the expect
the surroundings to be mostly of the band playing
somewhere if not infront of a crowd on stage then
somewhere remote, and within the video most of
them expected either a story line that doesn’t make
much sense (randomness) or the band playing.
17. In this question, the people who didn’t pick indie, simply said that
they did not know and for the rest of the people who listened to this
genre they said such things as “it’s a genre recognised by skinny
jeans and weird hair, the music is light rock and easy listening”. This
tells me a lot about how the genre of indie is perceived, it’s not very
well known on a wide scale but for the people who are interested in
it they do have strong opinions as to what it is and what it is looked
upon as, it also shows that my deconstructions and the things I
found out from doing my deconstructions were right, which makes
me feel confident in what it is I am going to produce for my overall
music video. The questionnaire was very helpful to me.
