Generic Prilosec (Omez Capsules) is a medicine which is a proton pump inhibitor. It is used in the treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease (PUD) (Gastric and Duodenal), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GORD/GERD), laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Magnesium.

Indications
Generic Prilosec is a proton pump inhibitor

➔Treatment of duodenal ulcer in adults
➔Treatment of gastric ulcer in adults
➔Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux
disease (GERD)
➔Maintenance of healing of erosive
esophagitis
➔Treatment of pathological hypersecretory
conditions

How Does Omeprazole work?
Omeprazole works by decreasing
the amount of acid made by the
stomach, to give relief of
symptoms and allow healing to
take place. This does not stop
food being digested in the normal
way.

Recommended Adult Dosage
Swallow Omeprazole capsules whole
with a glass of water. Do not crush or
chew.
Short-Term Treatment of Active
Duodenal Ulcer
The recommended dosage is 20 mg
Once daily for 4 weeks. Some patients
may require treatment for an additional
4 weeks

Recommended Adult Dosage
H. pylori Eradication to Reduce the Risk
of Duodenal Ulcer Recurrence:
Triple Therapy consisting of a combination
of Prilosec 20 mg, Amoxicillin 1000 mg and
Clarithromycin 500 mg. Each medicine
twice daily for 10 days
Dual Therapy: Prilosec 40 mg once daily
for 14 days
Clarithromycin 500 mg three times daily for
14 days

Recommended Adult Dosage
Gastric Ulcer:
The recommended dosage is 40 mg once
daily for 4 to 8 weeks
GERD:
The recommended dosage is 20 mg once
daily for 4 to 8 weeks
Maintenance of Healing of Erosive
Esophagitis:
The recommended dosage is 20 mg once
daily

Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions:

daily(varies with individual patient)

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as
you remember.
However, if you remember when it is
almost time for your next dose, take
only your usual dose at that time.

Contraindications
Generic Prilosec (Omez Capsules) are
contraindicated in the following cases:
➔Known hypersensitivity to Omeprazole
Magnesium or any inactive ingredients of
this medication.

Side Effects of Generic Prilosec
The side effects of Generic Prilosec
(Omez Capsules) with an incidence rate
of 2% or more are headache,
abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea,
vomiting, and flatulence

Warnings And Precautions
➔Concomitant Gastric Malignancy:
Symptomatic response to therapy with
Generic Prilosec Capsules does not preclude
the presence of gastric malignancy.
➔Atrophic Gastritis has been observed in
gastric corpus biopsies from patients treated
long-term with Generic Prilosec Capsules.

15. Generic Prilosec Tablets
Overdosage Symptoms
Symptoms of overdosage were
variable, but included confusion,
drowsiness, blurred vision,
tachycardia, nausea, vomiting,
diaphoresis, flushing, headache, dry
mouth, and other adverse reactions
similar to those seen in normal use.

16. Generic Prilosec Tablets
Overdose Treatment
There is no specific antidote to
Omeprazole Magnesium .
The patient has to be observed
closely and treatment should be
symptomatic and supportive.
