Rabicip Tablets (Generic Rabeprazole Sodium Tablets)

Rabicip (Generic Rabeprazole Sodium Tablets) is used
to treat Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), treat
heartburn, treat or prevent GI (gastrointestinal) ulcers
caused by infection, treat or prevent ulcers of the
swallowing tube (esophagus)and treat syndromes
caused by lots of stomach acid including Zollinger-
Ellison syndrome in adults and treatment of
symptomatic GERD in adolescent patients 12 years of age
and older.

Active Ingredient
The active ingredient present in Rabicip
tablets is Rabeprazole Sodium.
Each enteric-coated tablet contains 20 mg of
Rabeprazole Sodium.

under various drug trade names that
include Aciphex, Rabicip, Acistal, Parit,
Happi, Odirab, Pepcia, Prorab, Rabefine
Fast, Rabekind , Rabemac , Rabisin, Repral
and Zolorab.

Uses of Rabicip Tablets
Rabicip tablets are used for the short-term treatment in healing
and symptomatic relief of duodenal ulcers and erosive or
gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), for maintaining healing and
reducing relapse rates of heartburn symptoms in patients with GERD,
treatment of daytime and nighttime heartburn and other symptoms
associated with GERD, long-term treatment of pathological
hypersecretory conditions like, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and in
combination with Amoxicillin and Clarithromycin to treat ulcers
associated with infections caused by the Helicobacter pylori bacteria.
Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that decreases the
amount of acid produced by the stomach.

Uses of Rabicip Tablets
The indications treated by this medicine are Gastric ulcer (GU),
Peptic ulcer disease (PUD), Maintenance of healing of erosive or
ulcerative GERD, Healing of erosive and ulcerative GERD, Healing
of duodenal ulcers, Treatment of symptomatic GERD, Treatment of
pathological hypersecretory conditions (Zollinger-Ellison syndrome)
and Helicobacter pylori eradication to reduce risk of duodenal ulcer
recurrence.

Rabicip Tablets Dosage
The dosage of Rabicip tablets (Levothyroxine Sodium) is given below:
The recommended dosage of Rabicip is orally, with or without meals.
Swallow tablets whole. Do not chew, crush or split the tablets.
Healing of Erosive or Ulcerative GERD in Adults: The recommended
adult oral dose is one Rabicip 20 mg delayed-release tablet to be taken
once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. For those patients who have not healed after 8
weeks of treatment, an additional 8-week course of Rabeprazole Sodium
delayed-release tablets may be considered.
Usual Adult Dose for Duodenal Ulcer: 20 mg orally once a day after the
morning meal for a duration of 4 weeks. While most patients achieve
ulcer healing after 4 weeks, some patients may need an additional course
of therapy to achieve ulcer healing.

The dosage of Rabicip tablets (Levothyroxine Sodium) is given
below:
Maintenance of Healing of Erosive or Ulcerative GERD in Adults:
The recommended adult oral dose is one Rabeprazole Sodium 20
mg tablet to be taken once daily.
Treatment of Symptomatic GERD in Adults: The recommended
adult oral dose is one Rabeprazole Sodium 20 mg tablet to be
taken once daily for 4 weeks. In case the symptoms do not resolve
completely after 4 weeks, an additional course of treatment can be
considered.

The dosage of Rabicip tablets (Levothyroxine Sodium) is given
below:
Usual Adult Dose for Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: The dosage of
Rabeprazole Sodium tablets in patients with pathologic
hypersecretory conditions is patient-specific and should continue for
as long as clinically necessary.
The starting dose is 60 mg orally once a day. The Maintenance dose
is 60 mg orally 2 times a day or 100 mg orally once a day.
The duration of therapy is up to 1 year. Divided dosing may be
required in some patients.

The dosage of Rabicip tablets (Levothyroxine Sodium) is given below:
Short-term Treatment of Symptomatic GERD in Adolescent Patients, 12
Years of Age and Older: The recommended oral dose for adolescents, 12
years of age and older, is one 20 mg delayed-release tablet once daily for
up to 8 weeks.
Elderly, Renally and Hepatically Impaired Patients: No dosage adjustment is
necessary in elderly patients, in patients with renal disease or in patients with
mild-to-moderate hepatic impairment. Administration of Generic Rabeprazole
(Rabicip Tablets) to patients with mild to moderate liver impairment resulted in
increased exposure and decreased elimination. Due to the lack of clinical data on
Rabeprazole tablets in patients with severe hepatic impairment, caution should be
exercised in those patients.

Contraindications
Rabicip tablets are contraindicated in persons with a
hypersensitivity (allergy) to Rabeprazole Sodium or any of
the other ingredients of this medicine.

Storage Instructions
Rabicip Tablets (Generic Rabeprazole Sodium
Tablets) have to be stored at controlled room
temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to
77°F) with excursions permitted between 15°
to 30°C (59° to 86°F).
Keep this as well as all other medicines away
from children and pets.

Warnings
Symptomatic response to therapy with Rabicip Tablets (Generic Rabeprazole
Sodium Tablets) does not preclude the presence of gastric malignancy.
Use with warfarin: Monitor for increases in INR and prothombin time.
Acute interstitial nephritis has been observed in patients taking PPIs.
Cyanocobalamin (vitamin B-12) Deficiency: Daily long-term use (e.g., longer
than 3 years) may lead to malabsorption or a deficiency of cyanocobalamin.
PPI therapy may be associated with increased risk of Clostridium difficile
associated diarrhea.
Bone fracture: Long-term and multiple daily dose PPI therapy may be
associated with an increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip,
wrist, or spine.
Hypomagnesemia has been reported rarely withprolonged treatment with
PPI.

Rabicip Tablets Side Effects
In the adult studies (4 to 8 weeks), side effects that
occurred at a rate greater than 2% and greater than
placebo included pain, pharyngitis, flatulence, infection,
and constipation.
In studies of pediatric and adolescent patients (ages 1 to
16years, and up to 36 weeks exposure) adverse
reactions that occurred at a rate of 5% or greater of
patients included abdominal pain, diarrhea, and
headache.

Rabicip Tablets Overdose
There has been no experience with large overdoses with Rabeprazole
Sodium Tablets (Rabicip). Seven reports of accidental overdosage with
Rabeprazole Sodium have been received with 80 mg as the maximum
reported overdose. There were no clinical signs or symptoms associated
with any reported overdose. Patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
have been treated with up to 120 mg Rabeprazole.
Single oral doses of Rabeprazole Sodium at 786 mg/kg and 1024 mg/kg
were lethal to mice and rats, respectively. The single oral dose of 2000
mg/kg was not lethal to dogs. The major symptoms of acute toxicity of
this medicine were hypoactivity, laboured respiration, lateral or prone
position and convulsion in mice and rats and watery diarrhoea, tremor,
convulsion and coma in dogs.

Rabicip Tablets Overdose
No specific antidote for Rabeprazole Sodium is presently known.
Rabeprazole Sodium (Rabicip tablets) is extensively protein-bound and is
not readily dialysable. In the case of overdosage, treatment should be
symptomatic and supportive.

Rabicip Tablets During Pregnancy
Rabeprazole Sodium (Rabicip Tablets) is classified by the US FDA as
Pregnancy Category B. No evidence of teratogenicity was seen in animal
reproduction studies with Rabeprazole at 13 and 8 times the human
exposure at the recommended dose for GERD, in rats and rabbits,
respectively.
Changes in bone morphology were observed in offspring of rats treated
with oral doses of a different PPI through most of pregnancy and lactation.
There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Because animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human
response, this medicine should be used during pregnancy only if clearly
needed.
