The Inn industry is a business venture for the owner and a solace for the traveler and/or tourist. A customer can get stranded in the quest to secure a room to pass the night if he has not made adequate plans by the existing system. Through this study, it was realized that for a customer to be guaranteed a room, he or she has to physically come to the inn since the attendants paid more attention to that. He could also send a friend or relative who lives around the neighborhood of the inn to do the booking for him. There is nothing to bond the inn and the customer in person that he has indeed booked for a room. This study took Limman’s Center Inn as its case. It looked at creating an online reservation system to enable customers choose the room they wanted after a virtual tour to guarantee him a room.
Limman’s Center Inn Online Reservation and Billing System
1. 1
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
Online Reservation and Billing system is a transaction processing system that
solves various problems encountered during the computerized Hotel Reservation.
In a normal process, booking a certain hotel room requires procedures such as
talking to a hotelier either in a person or through the phone. Just imagine the disposition of
the hotelier if multiple clients came to ask questions about their reservations at the same
time. But through an online hotel reservation system, hotelier and travelers will both
benefited. In addition, Hotels have minimal need of travel agents to look for clients because
information about their hotel industry is readily available online.
Our proposed system aims to develop web application for facilitating reservation
processes at the hotel. The system provides the clients an easy way for searching rooms, of
their own preference listing-off rooms, real-time access of client’s information, making
reservation and even cancelling reservation. Rooms will be available on a “Fist come, First
serve” basis. Guaranteed reservations will be held by the hotel until the scheduled arrival
of clients.
Guest reservation data includes all the pertinent details about the guest’s stay. Each
room status which includes its availability and capacity of guest are being displayed on the
proposed system. That would also include the number of rooms for each type and the
corresponding rates at a specified date
2. 2
Objectives of the Study
The general objective of this study is to develop a system that will help Limman’s
Centre Inn competent and well-known company, these projects intend to provide online
reservation to the hotel. Likewise, we aim to properly conduct a better way of transacting
with customers using our proposed system for the business.
Specific Objectives:
● To enable “online booking” via internet.
● To enable automated data entry methods.
● Ensure efficient and reliable communication within the hotel.
● Enable easy authorize modification of data.
● Enforce security measures to avoid unauthorized access to guest records.
● Enable fast and easy retrieval of guest records and data for fast reference activities.
Purpose Description
The purpose of creating this system is: to make transaction easy and to reserve,
reservation or booking online as well as to advertise the company to the public. In this
system, a costumer can place their transaction online. The costumers can have their budgets
fixed on what they want, and then the company can also adjust on them. This system may
also advertise what is the latest offering of the company. The customers will be easily
accommodated because the system will automatically alert if there is conflict on the
schedules of the customer’s reservation.
3. 3
In advertising, our goal is to attract public attention to the services offered by the
company.
Scope and Limitation
The scope of the system is all about reservations in which customer can make online
reservations. The system will remove the hectic task of the customers and executive for
searching and booking rooms. It will also help the administrative staff i.e manager of the
inn to keep daily and history record to detail of the customer in proper database.
The limitation is the system will not provide customers’ online account. The
customer will only receive SMS and Email notification if they complete the reservation
process. It can also generate monthly reservation report and print reservation dates of the
costumer.
Significance of the Study
The Limman’s Center Inn Online Reservation and Billing System is identified to be
beneficial to the following:
● Customers – This system will help the customers to reserve their check-in without
visiting the Limman’s center inn. The customer can easily visit the website then
select the check-in and check-out date and fill-up the reservation form.
● Administrative Staff – administrative personnel refers to a person who is in charge
in the limman’s inn. The admin can easily track the customer’s reservation and can
make rapid decision based on the system recommendation.
4. 4
● Receptionist – is the person who is in charge in the reservation process. This person
is the one who are using the system. The receptionist in charge all the operation and
manage all rooms’ availability.

STUDY OF RELATED LITERATURE
A review of related literature and studies are the theories which the researchers used
to explain the existence of a research problem and used as bases in analyzing relationship
between variables that can be generated from reference books and of collecting, selecting
and reading books, journals, reports, abstract and other reference materials. The Chapter
begins with the Introduction, Foreign Literature, Local Literature, Foreign Study, Local
Study and the Synthesis.
Foreign Study
According to Janne et al (May 2006), she developed a hotel management system
that, can be used online. This system allows the guest to do their booking online by
themselves. Some of the tasks that the system can do are providing a query for arriving
date and the length of staying, providing the number of “ On-rooms”, view all available
rooms and provides user the ability to choose one or more of them, recording the number
of on rooms, view all available rooms and provides the user the ability to choose one or
more of them, recording kind of guests and how many going to be in the single room,
providing the cost of booking, asking the users if they want additional service; such as,
dinner or breakfast, storing the guest detail; like, name, address and telephone, asking the
user for conformation, final conformation views with the detail of booking and the guests
can review or cancel the booking.
6. 6
Local Study
According to Robert M. Liberato and Mark Anthony J. Tongco: “The new
millennium ushers in a new era of computer technology where every possible human labor
can be made easier, faster and accurate. We should in turn put this technology for our
advantages”. Edwin M. Clark: “When it comes to choosing which companies to use to
book hotels online you should find a company that specializes in the hotel market for the
country you are planning to visit”. The main reason why local based hotel reservation
agencies are able to get the best deals it is because they have a much better understanding
about the region they represent and have a closer partnership with the hotels they are
partnered with.
According Abi Bituin (August 2010) Short-term base lodging is the main reason
that the hotel has been established. In the Philippines, wherein many foreign people go and
have a vacation, hotel is always their first destination to have relaxation after long hours of
travel in an airplane. Because of the rapid increase of foreigners visiting the Philippines for
vacation, a common sight is the establishments and sophisticated hotels for competitive
advantage. As the result of the competition between different hotels, various business
strategies had been made to attract customers, such as putting discounts, having beautiful
and relaxing environment and above all having a state of the art computer system and
facilities.
Lagman (September 2012), Lan-Based Reservation System for Hacienda Gracia
Resort and Hotel. A resort is a place used for relaxation or recreation, where visitors are
being attracted to take their holiday or vacation. It refers to places, towns or sometimes
commercial establishments operated by a single company. On the other hand, a hotel is
7. 7
differentiated as an establishment that provides paid lodging on a short-term basis.
Computer programmers are continuously developing a system application to better serve
resort or hotel guests because some hotels and resorts are becoming fully automated while
others are still striving for the similar setting.
The researchers introduce a “LAN-Based Reservation with Billing System for
Hacienda Gracia Resort and Hotel” to improve its reservation and billing system. The
advent of new technology gave rise to easy and hassle-free interaction between and among
humans. This is why most hotel and resorts prefer to employ computerization in their
business.
As a conclusion, their system is a lan-based system so we generate their system a
online system for some to organize and developed system is appeared to be more attractive,
efficient and dynamic.
Foreign Study
Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa Resort, Singapore is one of the hotel chains for Shangri-
La Corporation. The official website for Shangri-La Sentosa Singapore is very powerful
website, which consist for many useful functions. The purpose of the website for Shangri-
La Sentosa is to provide hotel’s information and online rooms reservation. Visitors can get
the hotel information such as hotel location, room rates, hotel promotions, room
description, photo gallery, and hotel services and facilities from this website. Besides, the
website also includes a fantastic function, which is virtual tour or hotel. The places
available in virtual tour are lobby, rooms, function rooms, recreation, restaurant and bars.
Visitors can use their computer mouse to navigate around hotel. As conclusion, Shangri-
8. 8
La Sentosa online reservation system is an efficient, powerful, robust online system. In
order to enhance the current system, the system is developed to enable every visitor having
their virtual tour on hotel. The developed system appears to be more attractive, efficient
and dynamic to attract more customers.
Local System
According to Catalogue (2013), an online hotel catalogue in Philippine. The
Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham Manila/at Mall of Asia is strategically situated near
SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia and Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It is
near major business districts and tourist destinations. It is easily accessible by private and
public transport. The hotel has a restaurant serving international cuisine and function room
for 200 persons. The swimming pool is located at the roof deck will be operational soon.
Free Wi-Fi in Lobby, Restaurant only Php 100.00 per hour for in-room internet use. Free
buffet breakfast in all rooms. Hotel does not offer room only rate. The online system did
not provide an instant booking system. Guest will have to wait for confirmation within 24
hours after their booking. To enhance the current system, system is developed to enable
guests have availability checks and instant confirmation of the booking. The purpose of
this feature is to save valuable time and to cut cost, as it will eliminate email exchanges
between guest and reservation department. Valuable reservation staff time is saved because
reservation request will no longer have to be processed. As a conclusion, system will be
developed to have an instant booking for the room and meals. There is a back office for
them to control the content of the portal. This is management of their reservation.
9. 9
Foreign System
According to Marco (2013), every hotel of the Marco Polo group is an embodiment
of Asian warmth and Western comfort, a blend which conjures an unforgettable experience
for every guest staying with us. Marco Polo hotels provide their guests with a unique travel
experience which embraces the local charm and the adventure of travel with the deeply
instilled elegance and warmth of the in-house culture of Marco Polo hotels. Every Marco
Polo hotel befits the new-age traveler, whether on business or leisure, with its elegant
design, impeccable service and modern comforts. Just like the continent we are based in –
Asia, Marco Polo Hotels with its thirteen properties in key Asian business destinations has
flourished and established itself as one of the leading hotel brands in the region.
Anyway, the online system did not provide an instant booking system. Guests will
have to wait for confirmation within 24 hours after their booking. To enhance the current
system, system is developed to enables guest have availability checks and instant
confirmation of the booking. The purpose of this feature is to save valuable time and to cut
cost, as it will eliminate email exchanges between guests and reservation department.
Valuable reservations staff time is saved because reservation requests will no longer have
to be processed. Although the online system had included the picture for the bedroom,
kitchen and dining room, visitors only can view of it. With a more advance feature provide
in developed system, visitors will be able to view the whole room, for every angle of the
room. The current online system for Marco Polo Hotel did not include the management for
housekeeping. In addition to enhance the functionality of developed system, a
‘Housekeeping’ features added for housekeeper to perform their daily work.
10. 10
As conclusion of this case study, system will be developed to have an instant
booking for the room and meals. There is a ‘back office’ for them to control the content of
the portal. This is to help hotel in better management of their reservation and content of
portal. The ‘Housekeeping’ features also hope to provide staff have better management of
daily work and be able to work on schedule.
Synthesis
In synthesis, the purpose of review related literature and studies is to study other
online system and analyze the system. These studies discuss to apply in developed system.
Good features of the studied online system in developed system after studied the related
literature and studies; it is concluded that every system has its strength and weaknesses.
The purpose of that online reservation system is basically the same, which enables guest to
make online room reservation. Some systems provide other useful functions or visitors in
addition to online reservation. Thus, the online reservation system is hoped to provide
useful information. A new feature is added into the developed system after studied other
online systems. The feature is to provide a ‘back office’ for staff to manage the reservation
of rooms, meals and packages. There is also a feature for housekeeper to refer to their daily
work schedule. The developed system not only includes the existing functions of an online
reservation system, but it includes other features to enhance its functionality.

CHAPTER III
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
Project Conception
This project was made to promote online reservation to make this system, we
studied some details of the company and how it will work. We have meet and discussed
with the manager about the problem occurring in the company, and what functions and
limitations we had to put on our system. Then we discussed to them what are the advantages
and disadvantages of the system. As of this time; we and the manager agreed on the rules
and regulations of the system that we will develop for them in order to help promote the
Inn and simplifying their business processes.
Problem Statement
With the increase of Hotels and Inns demand, people looking for the lowest cost
yet with better service. Room reservations thru online booking will be the primary issue
that will be taken into consideration on this study.
Here are the other problems to be addressed by our system, to wit:
● Difficulty in accessing data.
● Usage of manual system in generating reports.
● Client will take time personally for reservations/booking.
12. 12
Project Scope
The scope of the project will be the following:
The system will be developed by the use of Web Development and other computer-
aided tool. Limman’s Centre Inn online reservation system can accommodate available
schedule of hotel rooms. This system will allow checking of customer’s personal
information and rooms reservations.
Business Constraints
Company operations nowadays are mostly computerized and most are having
online reservations which means efficient and effective system doing hotel transactions.
However, because of security issue such as hacking, the threat of an online system is too
dangerous for Limman’s Centre Inn. Thus, the desired system for the business is only
limited in scope but it can still deliver quality service for the business.
Schedule Issues
There are no problems in terms of schedule and gathering of the data in the
Limman’s Inn Center. The office is open in any hours. The manager is being shifted by
day and night shifted. Therefore, the data gathering and asking about the information
regarding to the study is flexible to the researcher.
Human Issue
Personnel assigned to the new system must be able to operate, maintain, and as
well-trained on how to run hotel reservation and advertising system. Even though the
13. 13
employee doesn’t have background in operating computerized system, he/she willing to
know the system since it will be user friendly
Financial Issue
The System is affordable and maintainable. It’s easy to fix and user friendly. The
cost of the system is worth the value added in the way business is conducted. The materials
needed by the system are already in the company such as the internet connection for online
conduct of reservations.
Technology Constraints
The technological constraint of the system is the security risk, because it may be
prone to constraints that our system couldn’t be used / functioned. The system will be
developed using the PHP platform, HTML, JAVA SCRIPT and MySQL. The software
development tool is sublime text cooling of the system.
Project Strategies
The standard development process is applied in Limman’s Center Inn Online
Reservation and Billing System. First, the researcher identifying the problem and what the
existing system the school use to perform the required operation. Second, the researcher
analyzed the problem by identifying some problems exist due to the current system and
formulating the solution by proposing the Limman’s Center Inn Online Reservation and
Billing System. . In software development phase, each member assigns the following task
for functionality purposes of each person. Taken steps in solving complex problems
14. 14
requires teamwork and dedication. Researchers discuss to the people who are involve in
the project to gather the information needed by the system. Data gathering is crucial in the
development process. The users that involve in system discuss the researcher--what is need
and what is to be done in their own perspective. Using the data, researchers can create a
documentation that can explained what the end user needs. Using the APA (American
Psychological Association) format, researcher writes all the information in standard way
that follow the formulization of the project. APA format is used universally for documents’
simplicity and standardization purposes. Revision and finalization of documents also
include afterwards taken down all of the information. In coding and testing, the researcher
need to clarify what is scope and limitation of the project for the continuation and precise
coding. This helps the programmer identify and avoid over perfection of the project outside
the plan, such as adding some features and functionality in his own perspective that has not
been documented. In the software development there are some testing, such as unit testing,
system integration testing, and other testing to identify what is functioning and what are
the features and functionality need to be add in order to meet the user’s satisfaction and
requirements. In this part of development process, researcher need to change the system
that they developed even it has been documented. The user’s perspective is the most
priority when developing the system. Therefore, any modification is realizing in this
process. Then, the monitoring and controlling stage; where the researcher need to observe
the system that has been implemented after the testing process. This ensure that the develop
system has an assurance in terms of quality. Finally, the final user acceptance; in this stage
the researcher already fixed some errors that found during the previous process that has
been implemented—unit testing, controlling and monitoring stage, user acceptance testing.
15. 15
Project Documentation and Communication
Before coming out with this system, the researchers conducted an interview to the
manager since the owner of the Inn is not available. It’s also an entailed literature review
in the internet and the data compilation. Each member was assigned a task to be
accomplished before the deadline. Regular communication with each member was
conducted through cellular phones and meetings were also conducted for research to
compile all the data and to discuss the plan for design and operation of the proposed system.

Planning Phase
In the Planning Phase, it involves creating of a set of plans to help guide your team
through the execution and closure phases of the project. The Project Planning Phase is often
the most challenging phase for a Project Manager, as you need to make an educated guess
of the staff, resources and equipment needed to complete your project. The plans created
during this phase will help you to manage time, cost, quality, change, risk and issues. They
will also help you manage staff and external suppliers, to ensure that you deliver the project
on time and within budget. The team defines the solution in detail what to build, how to
20. 20
build it, who will build it, and when it will be built. During this phase the team works
through the design process to create the solution architecture and design, writes the
functional specification, and prepares work plans, cost estimates, and schedules for the
various deliverables.
Usage Scenario
This diagram is used in system analysis to identify, clarify, and organize system
requirements. The use case is made up of a set of possible sequence of interactions between
the systems and the users in a particular environment in relation to a particular goal.

The figure 3.0 and 3.1 shows the Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) define as a
data model that describing the data or information in the system based on business domain
or processes. It is a model that describes in an abstract way and ultimately implemented in
the database. The ERD are composed of relationship and entity.
An entity relationship model, also called an entity-relationship (ER) diagram, is a
graphical representation of entities and their relationships to each other, typically used in
computing in regard to the organization of data within databases or information systems.
An entity is a piece of data-an object or concept about which data is stored.
The ERD of Limman’s Center Inn Online Reservation and Billing System has four
entities: admin, rooms, guest and customer and data is shared between those entities to
form a relationship.

of Limman’s Inn Center Reservation and Billing System.
The project team create this system in order for the customer to book online without
having a physical interaction to the receptionist. The customer will visit the sites and book
the check-in and checkout date. However, if the room is not available between those date
the system will not book the customer. Therefore, the customer will find another date that
is available.
The method that has been used in or der to developed the system was agile
methodology. Furthermore, if the manager is not satisfied with the current design, the
project team will make a note and change the design. Agile development is a quick way to
fix any bugs in the system. Any changes will not affect the other steps. Therefore, the level
of user experience and performance of the system.
There is only one user in the system, therefore the researcher evaluate only the
manager to rate the system. The password of the system is inheritable and the obligation
can be pass to another trusted person that selected by the admin.

Summary:
1. In the completeness rated as score rate of three (3) interpreted as average in
completeness. Completeness is defining by building a representation of
requirements that can Be accessed of correctness and consistency.
2. The system achieve it purpose in simplicity rated as five (5) interpreted as Very
high in the degree to which the program can be understood with less difficulty.
3. The generality is the breadth of potential application of program components only
rated as three (3) interpreted as average.
4. In the security rated as three (3) interpreted as average. Security in the system is
not so secure and prone to query error due to poor coding and logical analyzation
of the program.
5. Operability of the system is rated as two (2) low. The operability is the ability of
the system to operate with almost no downtime. The user is not satisfy due to the
system is not yet uploaded online.
Conclusion:
1. In the completeness was rated by the manager as average this due to the manager
exceed his expectation in the system beyond the scope. However, the system will
able to meet the requirement and function in reservation system.
2. The graphical user interface of the system is very simple. Therefore, the manager
can easily understand what button to click and what will do during the operation.
3. The generality was rated as average this is due to additional recommendation of the
manager that exceed to our systems limitation.
44. 44
4. Security of the system is average not secure. There was a form that has no ability
to filter string, therefore will harm the database in the future.
5. The system is not yet uploaded only during our evaluation. Therefore, the project
team analyze that after the evaluation the system will be uploaded online using free
hosting.
Recommendation:
1. In order to complete our system, the project team decided to meet the user’s
requirement by releasing software version a month during their recommendation.
In this way, the manager will satisfy and the software will function based on the
user recommendation.
2. In the graphical user interface, the project team has no recommendation due to the
interface design was rated by the Limman’s Inn Center Manager as Excellent.
3. Generality of the system can be solving by releasing software version every month.
4. Security is very important in the system development, therefore the project team
decided to improve the system security by filtering the characters and special
characters in the textbox upon entering the data.
5. In the operability the system got the lowest score this is due to the system is not yet
uploaded online. Therefore, a week after the defense the project team decided to
upload the system using free hosting for temporary viewing.
