• Lak Derana is a new Hotel chain located in Sri Lanka which provides budgetary and
luxury hotel service for all over the country. The more prominent stakeholders in this
hotel chain are Management customers, staff members, Administration department
staff, Human Resources, and hotel Managers.
• Currently, this hotel chain followed the manual process for handling inquiries and billing
systems and has no existing customer management system which is very ineffective,
prone to errors and mistakes. The current manual system uses paperwork and direct
staff communication to manage the hotel. This delays information transmission in the
hotel. Reservation is done through phone calls or visits to the hotel.
• For the problem, they need an effective computerized system to do their whole manual
processes easily. And this system is good to be as a web-based application than a
desktop application. Because web apps are accessible everywhere.

documents are transferred manually to the filling department for compilation of the
guest’s file. Because of that, the accounting department has a hard time handling
accounts and room service has no way to track hotel records.

processes easily. And this system is good to be as a web-based application than a
desktop application. Because web apps are accessible everywhere.

Functional Requirement is a description of the service that the software must offer. It
describes a software system or its component. A function is nothing but inputs to the software
system, its behavior, and outputs
• The customers should be able to register with their details.
• The system should record all the added customers’ details into the Lakderana database.
• The system should verify the users’ username and password against the Lakderana
database when logging in.
• After login, users should be directed to the Lakderana Admin panel.
• The system should display the pages according to the user types.
• The system should enable the Reservation manager to check for the availability of rooms.
• The system should transfer the inquiry to a different hotel in the same hotel chain if the room
availability is zero.

• The system should generate financial and products reports for the hotel owner and the
manager.
• The system should enable the manager full modification access to the user, reservation, and
room information.

• The system should allow the HR division to deduct salaries before releasing the monthly salary.
• The system should allow the Bar Employees to maintain and record the daily earnings from the liquor
items which are sold from the bar.
• The system should allow the Bar Employees to log the daily income and expenditure to maintain the
Bar in the system.
• The system should allow the Hotel owner and the manager to see the daily and monthly-generated
income and expenditure reports from the hotels as well from the liquor bar.
• The system should allow the Reservation manager to view the report of daily reservations of the hotel,
and he/she has to update the reservation status of the room list.
• The system should allow the Reservation manager to check the number of adults and children checked
in for each month and each day.
• The system should allow the Human resource person to view employees’ attendance and payroll
details too.

The team developed a bi system for Lak Derana hotel in the name of Integrated system for Lak
Derana hotel. The system is developed in waterfall methodology. HTML, CSS, JavaScript,
Bootstrap, Ajax, jQuery are used as the front-end technologies and php is used as the back-end
language and MySQL is used as the database for the system. while develop the system the team
faced many challenges. Although, team successfully completed the system by their hard work.
The system is very useful to every user of the system to make decisions. The system provides the
ability to access data and gain holistic view of their operations, and the ability to benchmark results
against the competitors. The system reduces the working time of every users and make them
energetic by easy processes.
In future, finger and face authentication lock also can be included for increased the security level of
the system. And barcode reader can be attached with the system. Access card can be provided to
Employees. Therefore, automatically attendance will be record in system. Similarly, HR division also
can mark their attendance by finger print register. Solid network also can be attached in future. It will
provide the base of business intelligence solution and can be a differentiator in the way Lak Derana
hotel uses the system.
