Retargeting is a form of online advertising that can help you keep your brand in front of bounced traffic after they leave your website.
For most websites, only 2% of web traffic converts on the first visit. Retargeting is a tool designed to help companies reach the 98% of users who don’t convert right away.

Editor's Notes
For most websites, only 2% of web traffic converts on the first visit. Retargeting is a tool designed to help companies reach the 98% of users who don’t convert right away.
Suppose you were in your store and during the day you had 100 people walk into your business look around for 5 seconds or less and then leave.
99% of the people who entered the store...just stood around for a minute or two and then turned around and left. Would that send up bells and whistles for you as a business owner?
This is exactly what is happening to you every day on your website … why are you not alarmed? Did you know 98% of visitors to your website leave without taking the action you want?
This isn’t just a good idea..this is something you must implement if you want to be successful and not lose 98% of the people you’ve worked so hard to visit you in the first place.
You will better utilize the money and effort you have already spent on PPC, SEO, Local marketing, Social Media, Facebook Marketing etc. You worked very hard to get them to your site once...don’t let them get away.
You can get this for only about 10% of the cost of your marketing budget. Think about this - going out to reclaim the 98% for only 10%?
Let’s see how this works on the next slide.
Your customers will think you are BIG .. seeing you all over the Internet.
Retargeting is a cookie-based technology that uses simple a Javascript code to anonymously ‘follow’ your audience all over the Web.
Here’s how it works: you place a small, unobtrusive piece of code on your website (this code is sometimes referred to as a pixel). The code, or pixel, is unnoticeable to your site visitors and won’t affect your site’s performance. Every time a new visitor comes to your site, the code drops an anonymous browser cookie. Later, when your cookied visitors browse the Web, the cookie will let your retargeting provider know when to serve ads, ensuring that your ads are served to only to people who have previously visited your site.
When a previous visitor is surfing around the web, your ad will show up in all kinds of places … reminding them of you and asking them to return. This is a gentle approach of getting them back to your website.
Real-Time Bidding (RTB) technology has re-invented traditional banner advertising. In the same way that search engines use keywords, RTB uses behavioral and demographic data to target ads at specific audiences, producing results like never before.
Until now, the power of RTB has only been available to big-budget brands and agencies. We believe that advertisers of all sizes should have access to world-class RTB technology. That’s why we are bringing it to you today.
Visitors go to a website, in a split second, exchanges send out an announcement that there is a request for an ad. They evaluate the criteria for the right type of ad, whether it’s retargeting because that person is marked for retargeting, or a new ad. The demographics are checked, the individual characteristics of the person are evaluated and an auction begins for all matching ads. Once an ad wins the bid, the winning exchange serves up the ad to that web page. All this happens in 100 milliseconds.
Here is another example of where McDonalds and Pepsi may be trying to get some advertising exposure. They both place their bids for the different ads on the page, and the ones with the highest bid for each area wins. Remember, these costs are for CPM (cost per thousand…not for each ad placed). So this actual placement costs .0015 cents and .0012 cents respectively.
So why use this form of advertising when we already have Adwords?
Because we can target the specific so well, we spend less dollars on the actual advertising. We don’t have 1 ad network (like Google Adwords) we have 290 ad networks which all want your advertising dollars so they are in competition which keeps the pricing low as well.
A perfect combination … get the right people to your website …. then ask them to come back again and again. It’s a perfect combination
Let’s go over a couple more case studies to help you see what others have experienced.
So as you can see this dentist was paying between 9.75 and $12.30 for their clicks on PPC.
When them implemented their RTB, the clicks were then only costing 1.44 .. a 665% savings. Plus they implemented Retargeting and got 35 visitors back to their website.
Here is another dental example.
This dentist was paying between 16.40 and $19.80 for their clicks on PPC.
When them implemented their RTB, the clicks were then only costing 2.78 .. a 551% savings. Plus they implemented Retargeting and got 20 visitors back to their website.
So we’ve made a special package just for you…
That's less than 1 month of PPC.
