Free CCNA1 assessment
1. Free CCNA1 Instructors Course
Assessment Preparation
05/06/17
Andrew Smith
@Teraknor and it is all about @OUCisco
2. We will be covering:
• Dates for assessment and how to book
• What is required (from you)
• The OU Packet Tracer skills based
assessment
• Resits
• Marking you as ‘complete’
It is more than turning it off and on again!
2
3. Warning!!!
Read all of this slide deck with care.
This is the only time we will explain the
assessment and will not field any queries
regarding this other than within the discussion
forums inside the Netacad class.
Remember, you are still 950 (from 1130), we are a
very small team including volunteers
Therefore … do NOT email us with questions.

5. Dates for the final assessment

• 19/6/17 @ 14:00 GMT … you must register via …
http://bit.ly/FreeCCNA1Exam190617
• 20/6/17 @ 19:00 GMT … you must register via …

• Please note, the bit.ly links are case sensitive. This slide deck will
be shared within the class.
• The password for registration is ‘freeccna1’ … all lowercase.

6. Dates for the final assessment
There is a total of four available time slots (2)
• You must pick one date … we will not be offering any additional
slots.
• There will be no alternate times …
• If you cannot make one, book another – the cut off for booking each
is 24 hours
• This is so we can ‘activate’ selectively on the Netacad system
6
7. What is required …
From you …
• Check that you can use Webex from wherever you are
• You can use https://www.webex.co.uk/test-meeting.html
• A computer with a webcam – which MUST be switched on – we are
not interested in audio (microphone) at your end – however, you
must have speakers/headphones
• Allocate two hours … once you commence, you will have 1.5 hours
• You MUST complete the course feedback in advance … it is active
• Pass at 70% (not 69.9)
• DO login early
• You will be free to commence within 15 minutes of the start time –
you can login up to ½ an hour before the session starts. This is to
reduce stress and give everyone time to grapple with any technical
issues.
7
8. Be aware…
We will …
• Record the session
• Randomly check on everyone
• Monitor your performance on the final examination against this
recording
• Do NOT confuse Practice Final with ‘actual’ Final
• You must expect
• Between 50-60 questions
• That you will only have 1.5 minutes per question
• The style will be similar to the chapter tests you have completed
As this is a limited activity – if you bail out > leave the session we
will not reactivate the final. This may seem unfair, however for free
at scale there are limitations. 8
10. Skills Based Assessment (1)
OU Packet Tracer
• You can download and commence the Skills based assessment via
… http://bit.ly/PT-SBA-FreeCCNA1-17
• The packet tracer activity has also has a link to the publically visible
Google Drive document (copy/paste).
• You MUST complete this packet tracer assessment by 23:59 UK
time on the 2nd of July 2017. Any submissions after this time will be
disregarded.
• All submissions MUST be emailed to
open.university.cisco@gmail.com and not to any individual member
of the OUASC Cisco team. If it is not seen via this email account, it
will not be considered.
• Read the entire instructions before commenting on the activity – it
will commence at 8%.
10
11. Skills Based Assessment (2)
OU Packet Tracer
• The instructions are available at … http://bit.ly/FreeCCNA1-SBA17
• There are no intentional tricks or traps
• You can only submit once, as we know you can try/try again
• Make sure that we know who the email is from (we are not mind
readers).
11
13. Resits
Follow the same rules as the first attempt(s)
• July 3rd at 1900
• July 10th at 1900
• We will share links for webex sessions supporting these, after the 26th of
June.
• This is only for anyone who did not gain at least 70% on the first attempt
• This attempt goes up to 85% (not 84.9)
• If you do not pass this, you fail the course. You may recommence and
reenrol for Oct17. This is available via …
• https://sites.google.com/view/ouasc/training-itc/free-ccna1-instructor-training

15. Where Kevin will have his well earned nervous
breakdown
Marking you as complete!
• From 11/07 to 20/07 Kevin will be checking/passing students with
the support of Andrew
• Once you have been passed (marked as complete) – you can
create classes for CCNA1 – Introduction to Networks or Networking
Essentials
• Do not nag us … we will be doing this in batches
15
17. We are still learning …
Experimental!
• When we commenced in February – we were clear that this was
experimental
• We planned for 100, never expecting 1000+
• This is not about perfection – it is about opportunity
• Next time, we are sure we will make different mistakes
