2. Usage
Corresponds best to English:
“I would do something” (but it's not possible under present conditions?)
e.g. Si tuviera la paciencia, lo toleraria
If I had patience, I would tolerate it.
Notes:
1. DON'T CONFUSE THIS WITH THE IMPERFECT “WOULD” , as in “Every day, I would get
up early.” That usage is akin to “Every day I used to get up early”, and so it requires the
imperfect: cada dia me levantaba temprano.
3. Formation
stem + endings – SAME FOR AR/ER/IR
estudiaría estudiaríamos
I would study We would study
estudiarías estudiaríais
You would study You (pl) would study
estudiaría estudiarían
S/he would study They wouldstudy
4. Irregulars
Bad news: More than 3.
Good news: If you know all your Future
irregulars, you know your Conditionals. Use
the same stem, and replace the future
endings with conditional ones. EASY! Now
practice!
