2. HOW WAS VOLLEYBALL CREATED?
It all started in 1895, when William Morgan,
one of the directors of the college in
Massachusetts, decided to create a sports
activity for the older generation, which does
not have a lot of running.
3. Morgan, like most people of that time, was under the
influence of basketball that was, at the beginning of
the last decade of the 19th century, conquering the
American continent. In his environment there were a
lot of members of the intermediate generation for
whom basketball was too fast and hard. So he
decided to design a sport that will "shake up" the
participants without needless running. He used the
tennis net that was pitched on middle and raised on
pillars at the level of heads of players. He divided his
players into two teams and took the soccer ball as a
prop for volleyball. This sport is called "Minton", a
number of participants in teams was not limited only it
was important that an even number of players were
on both sides.
4. VOLLEYBALL GETTING ITS PRESENT FORM...
In 1896, Morgan, with friends, travelled to the conference of college
directors in Springfield, the birthplace of basketball, to demonstrate a
new sport. There a beach got its present name "Volleyball" after a strike
that is used in the game. Volleyball got two new rules. The match was
played in one set, that winning is the one who scored 21 points, the
network was raised a few inches and the field of play was expanded.
Instead of being a sport designed for older generations, volleyball is
attracking more and more young people. Students from other countries
who were educated in the United States were transferred to Cuba, the
Philippines...For years they changed the rules, determined the number of
players a team can have on the field (six), expanded the field of play and
it was determined that one team has the right to hit the ball three times
(including the transfer over the network), which had a significant impact
on the flow of the game, because until then the number of kicking the ball
in a field was unlimited. Instead of one, it began to be played in three
sets and there were some changes to make the game gains pace and
speed.
