2. How do the three texts link together?
We kept to the same colour scheme throughout our main
product and our ancillary task. Which we kept to dark
mysterious colours such as reds, blacks and whites, this
was because we needed to stick to the genre of horror.
These cut outs are from the magazine
cover and the film poster, we have stuck
to using red as our main text colour, as if
there was a dramatic change it wouldn't
show a link between the two. We have
then used white as our tagline or quote
text on both. This is effective as an
audience will see a clear link.
3. Our main product (our trailer) layout is still dark and mysterious, to fit in with the horror genre , we used dark colours and
plain text. We also made sure we filmed somewhere where it would be effective which is why we chose the woods. The
combination of having this idea in our trailer then having a close up on the actors face shows that she could be in the
woods and gives viewers more of an idea what is going on. Combining it with the magazine cover, the layout is still in the
horror genre as sticks with the red colours but it also has a different feel to it but yet still is effective.
4. We have ‘created’ a website which we have inputted on our main product and the
ancillary tasks. Each website is different on each task, but they still all link
together we have done this as each website links to the type of product it is on.
As our trailer website is specifically about the film. The poster is to give people
more insight to the film and the magazines is an empire website which would
include information about ‘The Unknown’. By creating a website it fits with
conventions of other companies etc trying to advertise there films.

5. We also created a tagline
‘What’s out there’ this
tagline gives suspense and
mystery to the audience.
We have included this
tagline in our trailer and
our poster to show a clear
link between the two.
Using a tagline is an
effective way to make the
audience remember the
product. This also is the
same as our website.
6. As we have used different images for both our main ancillary tasks.
We didn't want to use the same image as it wouldn't of been as
effective, even though people could recognise it using a different
image would tell the audience more about the film.
These are the two images
we use they still link to
our trailer but in different
ways. By combining the
two like this gives the
viewer different views of
the trailer.
7. This is our brand so the Title of our
film can be easily recognised
anywhere. We kept the same font and
colour scheme for ‘The Unknown’.
This brand is used throughout all
three tasks. Which is the main clear
link between the three. In our trailer it
is at the end showing what our trailer
is called. For our poster we used it as
our main masthead and for the
magazine we have used it twice when
saying what the magazine main story
is and a tagline up the top.
8. All together the combination of our main
product with our ancillary tasks are effective
as they are all a bit different but still link as
they fit to the conventions of real trailers and
posters. I believe how we have done our
magazine front cover is also effective as it
looks at a different view of the film as its a
‘Behind the scenes’ take on it. By sticking
with brand names, colours, and other
conventions stills makes a clear link between
the 3 tasks.
9. I personally thing that the three products are
very effective. The only suggestions I would
make would be..
In the poster make the main image more intense, this could
be done with having the image making eye contact with the
audience as it will show more fear.
In the trailer we could of had more dialogue to connect the
characters with the audience. This could help with what the
viewer thought of the trailer.
Add more jumpy clips within the trailer to make it more
memorable. This would then have an effect on the viewing of
the poster and the magazine.
