Score Notes
Suspenseful soundtrack
We used a suspenseful non-diegetic soundtrack that we found on YouTube
during the beginning of our opening sequence. It was used during the first scene
when Emily was trying to escape from the shed – where the antagonists had tied
her up. This added to the suspense and put the audience on edge throughout the
scene. The soundtrack is fast paced and so puts the audience on edge – making
them wonder what will happen next. When the scene its peak, the volume was
risen to create more tension. This also suggests to the audience that something is
about to happen – putting them on edge even more. When Emily escaped the
shed, the soundtrack changed.
Eerie soundtrack
When Emily had escaped the shed, the suspenseful soundtrack cut to an eerie
soundtrack. This was used when Emily was running though the forest – trying to
escape from the antagonists. The eerie soundtrack helped to create a scary and
uncomfortable atmosphere – fitting into the thriller genre. The eerie soundtrack
also fit the location as the location was an empty and isolated forest.
