The document summarizes the improvements in quality between a preliminary task and final media product. Key areas of improvement included using a tripod to film steady shots, better framing shots, more advanced editing, improved mise-en-scene with planned locations and costumes, fixing issues like unnecessary blurs, using silent backgrounds, adjusting character positioning, improved group planning and meeting targets, and utilizing more equipment to make the film more effective. The document reflects on lessons learned about steady filming, framing, editing, mise-en-scene, sound, character work, group collaboration, and equipment usage from the preliminary task to the final media product.
1. Quality Summary 7. Looking back to your preliminary task, what do
you feel that you have learnt in the progression from
it to the full product?
Quality of holding a shot I’ve learnt that In our final media product we were
steady able to use a tripod to film steady. This was because
In our preliminary task we wasn’t be able to use a
tripod and we had to use the camera with our
Hands, which kept shaking. This was hard for us to
film this was because the audience couldn’t identify
what certain shots were. For e.g. in the first scene
where Zara was coming through the door it was
hard to notice what shot it was this was because the
camera was wobbly.
Quality of the framing shots The quality of our framing shots in our final product
was a massive improvement compared to our
preliminary task. This was because we were able to
use a tripod to help us keep a steady camera.
Over-the-shoulder shot that was used in our final
product went well this was because we had the
tripod that was available.
Quality of shooting The editing for our preliminary wasn’t as good as our
material appropriate to thefinal product this was because we didn’t
task set- i.e. the content of
understand how to use the moviemaker. However
your film pre and post as we developed our understanding of editing in
editing was consistent withmoviemaker for our preliminary task this helped us
the exam directives edit our final media product more consistently.
Quality of selecting mise- The quality of our Mise-en-scene in our final film was
en-scène including colour, a massive improvement compared to our
figure, lighting, objects and
preliminary task. This was because we’ve planned
setting; our locations by researching a psychiatrist office,
costumes and costumes. I feel that our final film was
a change for the better compared to our
preliminary task this was because we had time to
plan our film by sketching a storyboard to signify the
camera angle-shots that were include in each
scenes. The sketch included what the location
would look like and what costume the characters
was wearing.
Quality of editing so that The quality of editing in our film went quite well this
meaning is apparent to the was because we had to solve certain problems that
viewer were unnecessary. This was because in the scene
wear the main character (Zara) was looking at her
hands repeating I have blood on my hands she had
a blur vision. However this didn’t make sense his was
because flash backs do not have blurs this is why we
had to change it in order it has a meaning to the
2. viewer.
Quality of using sound with The quality of sounds in our final film was a much
images and editing improvement then our preliminary task, which was
appropriately for the task because our preliminary task we had other people
set; talking in the background and in our final film we
had a silent background which, was helpful for the
audience to hear. However our final film wasn’t as
loud as it could be which was quite irritating this was
because the camera made funny noises.
Quality of positioning and The positioning of our characters worked quite well.
movements of actors However it we made a few changes this was
because we first began with the two characters
sitting down communicating after we found out
that this was too short so we began with the client
walking in the physiatrist office and introduced
herself to the psychiatrist. This was a much better
improvement this was because it made more sense
to the audience and the positioning and
movements were improved. Their gestures were also
improved.
Quality of group planning, I’ve learnt that our group was meeting their targets
meeting targets, by planning and organizing who should do the work
organization they were capable for. For e.g. the organizer (Zara)
planned out who should do the storyboard and the
scripting for our film. I’ve also learnt better teamwork
for our final film. It was a massive improvement than
our preliminary. This was because our group was not
taking the preliminary too serious compare to our
final film.
Group dynamics i.e. how Our group worked really hard and was motivated to
did your group work get the work done together. This was because
together we’ve created a timetable and we gave up lunch
break and after school to get our editing and
filming done.
Other points of evaluation There were many types of equipment available in
(E.g. equipment related our final film than our preliminary task. The organizer
etc) Zara had to list certain equipments that were need
in our film. The equipments that were needed in our
film was a tripod for filming clipboard for the
physiatrist, glasses, cup of coffee and certificates
this helped our film look more effective.
