Devised performances
Consider the aims of a devised performance piece of your choice, answering the questions
below.
What is the theme of the piece? Mime
Why did we choose the theme? (E.g. what was it about the theme that excited and/or inspired us?)
We chose the theme comedy mime because it was a different take on performance
also because it was a form of performance that wasn’t really taken seriously and by
showcasing and organizing a performance on mime we could make it a memorable
and a unique performance from our class.
Who is it for? (E.g. family audience, teenagers, pre-school children.)
Our target audience is family and teenagers as we will be performing in school. The
performance targets every one basically because the drama piece is based on
comedy and everyone likes comedy.
What do we want our piece to do? (E.g. shock, amuse, educate.)
Our performance wants to make the audience amused and make them laugh and
enjoy the show. I would also like for the audience to see mime as an interesting
form of performance so people see this as a serious form of drama. And not just
street performers with face paint.
What style(s) of performance will we use? (E.g. naturalism, musical theatre.)
We will be using musical theatre because there is no dialogue in mime so we will
only be focussing on music and the lighting to create a atmosphere and a clear
understanding of the piece.
What are the dramatic possibilities of the piece? (E.g. for plot and character development,
staging.)
At the beginning of the performance we had a scene where we had to mime us all
shattering a glass with a huge log and we added music with this to create a sudden
and shocking atmosphere.
