Essay On The Three Kingdoms
One of the most well know historical periods of Ancient China is the era of the Three Kingdoms, which records the period to some of the most
well–known historical figures, heroes, and their complex yet intriguing relationships. The Three Kingdoms was a period of unrest, and battles which
initiated in 220AD, when Wei replaced the Eastern Han Dynasty, and lasted until the reunification of lands in 280AD. Towards the end of the Eastern
Han Dynasty, the emperor was losing power and influence, which led to the inability for Eastern Han to unite the whole land. At the same time, the
country was in anarchy as groups of warriors were uprising and rebelling against Eastern Han, proclaiming themselves emperor. However, these
powers were too weak to claim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The complex relations during the Three Kingdoms supressed the dominating country Wei from easily attacking and taking over the weaker ones, Shu
and Wu. This involves the two smaller, weaker countries joining forces to withstand the greater, and more powerful one. The outstanding generals',
leaders', and strategists' battles also aided each country to form strong ties and uphold their respective lands, while taking over other unclaimed/not
well–maintained lands. This bond between the Three Kingdoms has continued for a long time before the fall of each kingdoms, with Jin replacing
Wei, and merged all three into one large Kingdom. There are many factors that contributed to the disintegration of land following the end of the
Eastern Han Dynasty. Amongst which, the main reason was due to the chaos and uprising as feudal lords fought each other for territories. The court
ministers of late Eastern Han were corrupt, in particular Dong Zuo was considered one of the most corrupted, and manipulative officials of the time,
and was detested by citizens nationwide. This served as an excuse and motive for many lords to repel against the emperor, or restore Han

Comparing The Painting Dante And The Three Kingdoms
The painting "Dante and the Three Kingdoms" by Domenico di Michelino corresponds to the three world of the Christian afterlife in Dante's "Divine
Comedy". Dante stands in red–robed colossus in front of the city of Florence. Behind him, the art shows the three worlds of Christian afterlife, which
are the heavenly paradise, hell, and Mount Purgatory, thereby revealing the celestial spheres. The painting dates back to around 1465. On the left side,
it shows the sinners getting down to hell and souls appear being burnt by the hellfire. Dante says does as they walked inside hell, he noticed famous
people, who were great but still went to hell.

Each terrace symbolize a different kind of sin. One has to pass through all the levels to make sure that the sins are cleansed so as to get to heaven. On
top of Purgatory there is the moon, which according to the artist, represents the heavenly paradise. I also, shows Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden,
representing the earthly paradise. The seventh terrace is immediately at the top; it faces flames and strong winds from below. The level represents the
lustfulness. Some of the sinners appear to move in the fire with the guilt of going against the marriage virtues, while others are motionless, depicting
the lust. The sixth terrace represents the gluttony – the sin of overeating. There is an apple tree in the center of the terrace and a steam that flows on
top of the tree from the mountain. The sinners appear starved due to the aroma of the apple, and they cannot help the scent of the ripe apples and the
wate. They have to feed on them only to make them hungrier.
The fifth terrace show people lying on the ground with their faces looking down. It shows that they repenting from the sins of involving themselves in
earthy things. Dante on his way felt the trembling of Mount Purgatory, a sign of sinner being released from the burden of their sins, and this brought
about praising by everyone. This level represents the sin of extreme greed, and it is believed to possess the worst punishment. On the

The Chaos and Division of Asia's History Essay
The assigned readings about Asian history lead a unified conclusion that the past (history) of Asia was characterized with chaos and internal divisions.
"China, once again entered an era of divisiveness and chaos. Competing warlords dominated China for the next 350 years" (The Golden Age of China:
79). China is a perfect symbol of Asia's history because if studied from the past, the history of China demonstrates how divisions took place in the
country's political and economic spheres. China's history reveals how the religion led to emergence of chaos in the country. This shows that religion, in
the history of Asia, was more divisive than uniting when individual countries considered their religions as different. Religious harmonization of ... Show

Initially, Chinese had coexisted well under one rule. However, three powerful dynasties emerged after theHan dynasty, forming three kingdoms of Wei,
Shu, and Wu. An element of democracy started getting into China's politics, though at the time of the three dynasties, the kings had amassed power
through their naval strength. The fact that power was divided from one kingdom to three, however, shows decentralization of influence, which is an
element of democracy. The formation of the three dynasties in China did not offer any practical solution to the chaotic situation in the country. This
disapproves the imagination that democracy was growing in the country. If it was indeed democracy, then its growth had not ended. This is because
after the formation of the three dynasties, political division in China widened even further. No powerful dynasty in the continent's history appeared to
be answering the question of China's unity. It appeared like political plurality had entered in China to stay. For example, the failure of the Jin Dynasty
to solve the puzzle of China's political unity shows how divisive China was becoming. Polarization of leadership was more serious in Northern China.
This judgment arises from the fact that the Jin dynasty did not solve the puzzle of multiple kingdoms in the north of China. Sixteen kingdoms emerged
in the north as the Jin dynasty attempted to unite China.

Ozymandias By Percy Shelley And King Lear
Do you want to be a success in the world? Excessive pride or self–confidence is expressed through writings like in, "Ozymandias" by Percy Shelley
and King Lear by William Shakespeare. Many characters in literature become corrupted when having the ultimate power. Power is the root of all evil
and the contractions and comparisons expressed will help, you, the reader pick a view point. Ultimate power has the ability to turn the strongest man
into the weakest link.
Percy Shelley relates power to be like a disease, and like a disease it pollutes anything it comes in contact with. Shakespeare's manipulation of words
expresses his opinion that those in power corrupt. He expresses the corruption of power through his characters and themes in ... Show more content on

By calling himself "king of kings", he alludes to God and believes he is greater than all other men. He ruled his kingdom solely on the fear of those
beneath him. The intimidating language on the pedestal and the statue made for him display that Ozymandias possessed almighty power. To end the
poem, Shelley writes, "Round the decay of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The line and level sands stretch far away." As time passed, the
sand literally destroyed the symbol of what was once the greatest man alive.
In comparison to Ozymandias, King Lear was too corrupted by power. In William Shakespeare's tragedy, King Lear, the corruption of power leads to
the downfall of his kingdom and the king himself. In contrast to Ozymandias, King Lear is not only a monarch, but has the responsibilities of his
family as well. To begin King Lear, Shakespeare starts by Lear giving up power. King Lear originally wants to divide his kingdom amongst his three
daughters, the two eldest Goneril and Regan and his youngest daughter Cordelia. Before the empire can be divided the girls must share their dying
love for Lear in a speech. The two eldest daughters going first, exaggerate their love for their father. In contrast, although Cordelia expresses her love
for her father, it is only as a daughter should love their father, nothing more. Lear's pride

Ancient Scriptures And Its Effects On Chinese Culture
Dating back to ancient scriptures, the history of China is comprised of over 3000 years worth of rich culture and no doubt is one of the most
advanced civilizations to ever be discovered. Embedded within it's history, China is known to be one of the most popular tourist spots as a result of it's
resistance to Westernization for several centuries. Aside from the scriptures and art, historians have focused more on Chinese clothing to recount the
delicate history behind Chinese cultures and the centuries of transitional dynasties and periods. "Correct attire was regarded as the ultimate expression
of Chinese culture and identity, differentiating them from 'inferior ' foreign neighbors while making social and gender distinctions within their society.
The ancient Chinese clothing had specific cultural meaning, with properly attired bodies reflecting order and control and unadorned bodies and feet
serving as visible signs of disorder and dangerous nonconformity with the individual risking association to barbarian outsiders" (Schwebius, 2008).
Similar to other civilizations in history, the Chinese used many sumptuary laws to govern and regulate a divide between the social hierarchies. The
Chinese systemized their way of dress through robes, color and symbolic motifs. The use of bright colors, bold motifs of Chinese characters and
mythical creatures did not just simply classify someone's place in society, however it told legendary stories of tragedy, adversity, and triumph. Aside

Confucianism In The Scene Lost And Found By Liu Bei
Play Analysis
The scene Lost and Found is a precise example of Confucianism, Daoism, and Sun Tzu's ideals. The dialogue highlights the core values of these three
belief systems. Through Liu Bei's contemplation of the day's events, we see a shift from the realities of harsh warfare to the response a caring leader.
During the scene, Liu Bei consults with his advisor, Kongming, in hopes of restoring his resolve to continue with the war. This scene not only reveals
the core values of Shu's culture but also the personality of their leader Liu Bei. He is known for being loyal to his people, and this scene emphasizes
those traits more than previous chapters. Lost and Found goes in depth into Liu Bei's inner thoughts and regrets, giving a more complete explanation of
how he responds to his mistakes.
At the core of Confucian principles are the beliefs that any individual should follow strict morals and virtues, and Confucius would find that these
values are apparent in Lost and Found. Among his principles are the 5 core relationships, including filial piety and the bond between husband and
wife. In Lost and Found, Liu Bei is traumatized that he has gone against the very principles of these bonds, as he has failed in his task to protect
and care for both his son and wife. His disgust with his actions is purely Confucian, and Confucius would recognize Liu Bei's failure to follow the
core relationships. After Liu Bei's discussion with Kongming, another of Confucius's 5 relationships is present: that of the ruler and those he rules.
Although there is some friendship between the two men that blurs this line, it cannot be denied that Kongming serves Liu Bei. Even as he gives his
Lord a somewhat harsh talking to, he remains respectful. Due to the friendship, Kongming is able to get away with being a bit less cordial than he
otherwise would be, but he still respects the divide between them. Confucius would approve of this bond separately but would disapprove of the
blurring of social lines. Confucius would want the two relationships to be distinct with clear boundaries. Beyond relationships, Confucius believes a
ruler should lead by example, by having a strong moral code, being benevolent, taking part in rituals, and overall

Zoricus Vs. Crowley
Zoricus, Fedrel, and Crowley stood in a tavern fresh from a job. They were assassins, the best assassins in the North and South kingdoms. They
were all sly, meticulous, and professional killers. "A round, young wretch", Fedrel said joyfully to the young server girl. "Is now the time?",
questioned Crowley a little on edge. Crowley was new and still adjusting to the idea of killing a man then having drinks. "Calm, Crowley. Keep level,
people only suspect if they see guilt. We are just hit men.
The guilt truly resides in the ones who wanted them dead.", said Zorcius taking a drink of his ale.

Loyalty In The Family
Loyalty is one of the simplest moral traits to understand. Either someone is loyal, or they are disloyal–there are not many shades of grey in between.
For this reason, loyalty is one of the most desired traits in our friends, family, and partners we have in our lives. Loyalty weaves hidden bonds among
people that in some cases can never be broken. Such is the case of Pak Chesang, devoted servant of Nulji, 19th king of the Korean kingdom of Silla.
Pak's story, found in the second chapter of Chung, Hyo, Ye: Tales of filial devotion, loyalty, respect and benevolence from the history and folklore of
Korea, stuck out to me as an example of a man who is devotedly loyal to his nation. A descendent of Sillan royalty himself, Pak's heart remains with...

As a descendant of old Sillan leadership and a courtier since the times of King Naemul, Nulji's father, Pak Chesang has the future of Silla in mind in
every action he takes.
I see his devotion less as loyalty to the king as a person, but instead loyalty to what the king represents: the government and cohesiveness of the Sillan
kingdom. Nulji's distraught behavior over his brothers impairs peace in the land, an action Pak works to rectify at all costs. His life means nothing as
long as Silla retains order for the foreseeable future.
Even his family is seen as less important than the safety of Silla, an act best shown when Pak foregoes seeing his family in favor of heading
directly to Japan. The king recognizes the sacrifices of Pak's family when he hears news of their death. For Pak's wife and children, however, his
death may ring bittersweet. They are proud of his allegiance to Silla, yet I feel deep down they curse him for not returning. Unable to express her
grief properly, Pak's wife turns to stone and his daughters die of grief as well. In the end, their deaths also contributed to Silla's safety, but the necessity
of their demise probably remains under

Dawn crept in, and Fleeter awoke. Leaving the chambers, he walked back up to the upper halls, just outside of the king's Main Hall.
He hesitated, but decided not to go in to see the king. The news of his companions may not have been decided yet.
Wandering the place, he headed into the stables to check on Andrin. The stable was quite big in architecture, housing about 20 magnificent horses.
Fleeter immediately spotted Andrin, for he stood out with his pure black body and mane, for horses like him were only owned by Rangers.
He walked up to his stall, and stroked his black mane. Andrin neighed, sending mixed signals that only Fleeter seemed to fully understand.

Short Essay About Hiberia
Long ago, there was a beautiful and abundant land called Hiberia. It was a magical place of floating mountains, gargantuan trees and faerie creatures.
In the whole of the land, there was only one kingdom, Dreozakkha. The kingdom was prosperous and on first look, the people seemed happy but
underneath that facade was fear. Dreozakkha's ruler, King Eric was a vindictive, greedy and self–serving ruler. If any of his subjects dared to question
him, they were put to death immediately. He was a good ruler when it came down to the well being of the kingdom but his cruel streak was a hard stain
to remove from his overall reputation.
Eric had three younger brothers who he adored and helped raise when their parents had died. He spoiled them and gave them whatever they wanted.
His wife constantly chastised him about it but he would wave her concerns away. He knew his brothers would never betray him after all he done for
them. He took them hunting, gave them horses and women, and even a legion of guards for each of them. The brothers, Henry, Jack and John seemed
to have it all.

defeated. Seeing this as an act of treason the devil took away Eric's soul and plunged into the deepest part of hell. As for Hiberia, due to the war
between the three kingdoms and Eric's path of destruction the land of Hiberia could not recover and later slowly decayed into nothing more than a
barren wasteland. As time passes by Hiberia slowly turned into nothing more than a myth, a myth of how the actions of one man, one family, and one
deal caused the place around them to become something that was never to be seen or heard from

Empires on their outside may seem very different and unique. However, when you get down to their fundamentals, you begin to truly realize how
similar they are. Just as the imposing pine tree and humble tomato plant may seem vastly different, their start from a lowly seed and craving for water
and sunlight to survive unifies them. Such is also true with the Han and Roman empires. While key differences may be present, their social structures,

Throughout the course of time, religion has had an enormous influence on societies. This also is true for the Han on Roman empires. In both
societies, the genesis of their key religions were quite similar. Both were mainly based off of forces of nature and kept shrines in places that were
pure and natural. Polytheism was a common practice and a different god was devoted to each different aspect of nature, such as wind, fire, and
agriculture. Both empires also stemmed off from these nature based religions and absorbed religious theories and practices of other cultures that were
introduced to them. however, the religions and practices that were introduced to them were quite different. In Rome, Christianity was introduced and

a single god, but this caused problems. Due to this practice, many early Christians were punished because they would not worship the emperor as a

History of the Three Kingdoms Period of Korean History
Three Kingdoms Period of Korean History
Korea has a vast and rich heritage but also one based upon civil war and the attempt to create a single unified country through force if necessary.
Between 57 AD and 668 AD, the land that is now known as North and South Korea was called the Three Kingdoms because of its division into three
kingdoms, Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. Following this period, between 698 and 926 AD, Korean history was in the midst of the North South States
Period wherein Silla became united and coexisted alongside Balhae at point both above and below the peninsula. After this came the Koryo or Goryeo
era (918–1392 AD) and then the Choson or Joseon period (1392–1897 AD). Despite being separate, kingdoms, the three had much in common
including a shared culture and language, as well as religious and philosophical beliefs which were increasingly influenced by their larger Chinese
neighbor. Governmental changes were the primary difference in the divided Korea and each of the three kingdoms had a system in place that was
instrumental in the way the people as well as those in positions of leadership functioned in the society.
The Three Kingdoms period was dominated by the Goguryeo kingdom (Eckert 30). Logically, as the largest in land area, Goguryeo had a larger
population and were thus able to exert influence on the other two kingdoms. Unlike the other two kingdoms, Goguryeo also fought valiantly against

When Protestant settlers became more prominent in the Irish government they declared Ireland a Protestant country. This caused religious tyranny for
the Catholic majority in Ireland. Although Ireland was declared a Protestant country, the majority of the natives living there were Catholic [The Irish

them. Several things factored into the defeat of the combined armies. The fighting within the Confederate Army was a large contributor in the loss of

The Unnatural Characters In William Shakespeare's Macbeth
Shakespeare's Macbeth is a tragic tale about the title character who has been overcome with the desire for power. The out of ordinary thoughts spoken
from the witches bring trouble for Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and the entire kingdom.
At the beginning of the play, the witches are introduced as women that have the physical appearance of men causing Macbeth to wonder, "What are
you?" (1.3.50). The unnatural deeds begin with the all–knowing witches exclaiming, "All hail Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor!" (1.3.52)
proclaiming a title that has not been verified as a fact to Macbeth. A few moments later Ross enters with important information, he informs Macbeth and
Banquo of Macbeth's new title as Thane of Cawdor causing Banquo to question, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nature is no longer what it was like in the past and how it should be, "By th' clock 'tis day,/And yet dark night strangles the traveling lamp" (2.4.8–9).
No longer being how it was once before the people of the kingdom know that the reign of Macbeth will bring doom to the entire kingdom because
"Unnatural deeds/Do breed unnatural troubles" (5.2.75–76). Not only is the physical appearance of the kingdom severely affected by Macbeth's and
Lady Macbeth's inappropriate actions, but the people are as equally affected. All of the citizens are afraid of the Macbeth because of his quick temper,
the killing of Banquo, the killing of Macduff's wife and his children, and the pure joy Macbeth feels as he, "fixed his [opponent's] head upon our
battlements" (1.2.25). The delight Macbeth feels when killing others through decapitation is one of the surplus reasons of why "unnatural deeds/ Do
breed unnatural troubles" (5.2.75–76).
Towards the end of Shakespeare's Macbeth is the moment in which it is truly visible of the after effects of Macbeth's and Lady Macbeth's actions.
The kingdom is what is suffering the most from evil Macbeth's reign. "Each new morn/ New howl, new orphans cry, new sorrows/ Strike heaven on
the face...as if it felt with Scotland" (4.3.5–9), the nation that was once beautiful as Heaven itself has now turned into its own Hell. Scotland, "weeps,
it bleeds, and each new day a gash/ is added to her

The Unusile Weather In Shakespeare's Macbeth
The murky hostile weather started alerting Scotland about the misfortunate events that are on the verge of taking place; when the three witches told
Macbeth about the prophecy of him becoming king. When he tells his wife, Lady MacBeth this news she asks the spirits to unsex her so she can take
lead and "do all may become a man" (I.vii.51). The menace does this because she thinks that Macbeth is unable of doing all that need to be done to
become king due to his innocent nature. The plan that the fiend comes up with reverses the Elizabethan order. When Macbeth kills Duncan "[the] dark
night strangles the traveling lamp" (II.iv.7), the negative reaction from the weather foreshadows future events because what used to be a bright sun is

Comparing Meliodas's Character And Characters
Meliodas is undoubtedly my favorite anime character and character of this series. I love his calm and strong personality and I've completely fallen
in love with his character design. He is the main protagonist of the the Nanatsu No Taizai/Seven Deadly Sins series. He is the captain of the framed
Deadly Sins and owner of a tavern named the Boar Hat. He owns a demon–splitting sword, Lostvayne, and his main magical ability is Full Counter. His
closest relationship is with a young girl named Elizabeth. They meet when she is on the search for the Seven Deadly Sins. Even though he has the

Time is unknown, but Meliodas was also among the knights during King's arrest for watching slaughter. During that time, Meliodas was a Holy
Knight for another kingdom, so afterwards, years later, he became a Great Holy Knight in Danafor. He rescued a slave–girl named Liz during this time
even though she protested against him. Liz began to fall in love with Meliodas after the two had grown close, and they became lovers in which she
was the most important person to him. Yet, Fraudrin somehow found a way to escape the Demon Sealing years ago and nearly destroyed Danafor,
in which murdered Liz, right in front of Meliodas' eyes. He apologized for not saving her but Liz told him they'd meet again and not to forget what
they fought for which she is later shown to be Elizabeth. After finally watching Liz die, Meliodas' anger went out of control and he wiped off the

Old Wu's Narrative
The sea, whipped by savage winds, swaddled her in seaweed and left her on the beach along with splintered pieces of Cao Ren's boat. Old Wu found
her after the storm, hidden in the high wrack line, just below where the beach and tall grass meet. The infant's greenish mother–of–pearl eyes stared
calmly up at Old Wu from a childish version of Cao Ren's face. He then knew the rumor to be true; the sea had fallen in love with Cao Ren. Old Wu
searched for Cao Ren until sunset then carried the child home. When in the light of the dying day her iridescent eyes flashed green, the old man
smiled. "Don't worry, little fish. Stay with me until someone comes for you." Cao Ren returned to shore three days later, a bloated raft for the crabs

they wondered if any divine blessing could heal an old man's broken heart. * * * Upon seeing her for the first time, the Sun King became enamored
with how her eyes shimmered silver–green in his light and proclaimed, "Your name will be Jade Rapture." "I already have a name and I like it better,"

gods, it did not surprise Jade Rapture that her human name died upon meeting the Sun King. However, she did not expect that his words carried the
power to kill her mortal memories as well. Her last memory of Old Wu escaped in a sea–green tear, only to be wiped away by the Sun King who told

Scientist H. Federighi studied the effects of salinity on the size of Urosalpinx cinerea. In 1927,Urosalpinx cinerea were collected to figure out the
average size of the species from two different places: Norfolk, Virginia and Beaufort, North Carolina. The average size of each group of the snail
was identified, and it turned out the average sizes were very different in the two places. In Norfolk, the average length was between 21 and 25
millimeters, yet in Beaufort the size was 13 to 17 millimeters. It was then that Federighi began to look into the effects of salinity.
Immediately, the temperature of the two places could be ruled out as the cause for this size variation because the temperature doesn't really vary
between the two places. However, the salinity of the two areas do differ greatly. The results of his experiment indicated that the snails grow larger in
brackish water, water that has more salinity than freshwater, but less than seawater.

Confucianism in Korean Government During the period of Three Kingdoms, the military system in Silla has influenced by the Confucian doctrines.
The Hwarang were the military system consisted of the young sons of aristocrats who followed a code of conduct that combined Confucian doctrines,
Daoist ethics, and Buddhist teachings. Confucian doctrines included loyalty, filial piety, and righteousness (Connor, 2002, p.13). Yet,Confucianism in
Silla was subordinate to Buddhism. Confucian practices and study took place not mainly in its own institutions but in the Buddhist temples which were
considered as the centers of Silla culture (Yang & Henderson, 1958, p.84). Confucianism had limited influence on Korean peninsula due to Buddhism
which also contributed to shaping social life and acted as a principal force in cultural achievements. Buddhism dominated Korean peninsula in 10th and
11th centuries in Koryo Dynasty. Hence, the Confucianism did not spread to the entire population of Korean peninsula during the Three Kingdoms

as the social functions of education and socialization, guided by moral and ethical principles (Park & Cho, 1995, p.118). As mentioned above, one of
the five principal relationships proposed by Confucianism is the relationship between parents and child. As Confucianism proposes, there should be a

grandparents while the elders in the family must treat and instruct the children based on love and affection (Park & Chesla, 2007,

The Role Of Wealth In The Three Kingdoms
In feministic interpretation, The Three Kingdoms expresses a clear gender binary, dividing the male and female characters into their respective roles
and responsibilities expected of them during the times the story takes place. Females are represented as stationary quest objects or trophy for the main
character Ivashko and his brothers to obtain, who are on the other hand assertive, demanding, and often decision–making.
In The Three Kingdoms, beauty and wealth are the major values linked to female figures, serving as fundamental standard for males to find a perfect
bride. This is illustrated when Ivashko enters the underworld kingdoms. As he ventures deeper, the beauty of the maidens ascend accordingly with their
wealth, which leads to his selection of last maiden with the greatest fortune and beauty. The tale tends to glorify ancient values associated with women,
such as passivity and self–sacrifice. The maidens' curiosity of who the stranger is must make way for imminent patriarchal needs, such as food and
hospitality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One unusual element discussed was the crying of Ivashko, after he is betrayed by his brothers. Crying is commonly associated with feminine qualities

masculine, such as the little man with a long beard, the Giant Idol, and the eagle; however, the dragon's ambiguity in gender was a much–discussed

Downfall Of Macbeth Essay
The Downfall of Macbeth
Macbeth's decision to hear the three first prophecies determined his destiny. By doing this we learned his true nature. The influences of Lady Macbeth
and the witches made Macbeth ambition and greed to become more powerful than his conscious. His decisions and influences were the reasons of his
downfall of his kingdom and his loved ones.
In the beginning of the story we are introduced to witchcraft. In their way back home Banquo and Macbeth bump into the witches. Macbeth demands
for the witches to speak and tell him what are they. They tell him he will be "...Thane of Glamis, ...Thane of Cawdor, and ... king hereafter" (.) When

Her mind starts visualizing herself as queen, but she knows her husband has a kind nature and won't kill to be king. Lady Macbeth could be considered
a witch according to the standards of Shakespeare's day. In the same way that witches subvert the natural order of religion and society, Lady Macbeth
subverts the order of the sexes and the family by trying to have more power than the head of the family, her husband. Not only does she act out of
order, but several of her actions imply that she is actually witch–like(.) Lady Macbeth challenges her husband's manhood by being more aggressive than
he is, taunting him, and suggesting, "When you durst do it, then you were a man"(1.7.55). Secondly, Lady Macbeth calls upon seemingly malevolent
"...spirits/ That tend on mortal thoughts" (1.5.40–41) to aid her in her plot to overcome her husband's reluctance and to force him to kill Duncan.
Although devotedly loyal, she rejects her subordinate role as wife and asks to be transformed "...into an instrument of death whose cruelty transcends
the limitations of her sex and of her mortal nature" (Truax 368). Finally, the fact that she works with the Weird Sisters to influence Macbeth suggests
that she is at least indirectly allied with

The Chinese people's progression with stone and pottery developed drastically in the Qin Dynasty. The Qin Dynasty followed the Zhou Dynasty and it
was during this period that the 'Great Wall of China' was established. The ruler 'Qin Shihuangdi' "is credited with building the Great Wall of China by
uniting several preexisting defensive walls" (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2015). These pre–existing walls were less significant clay walls built by
individually established towns near to the border. Some sources state that the wall was for defensive purposes but some also say that "the Great
Wall speaks well for a growth in the mixed soil of peace and war. It stands for some power, an unbeatable power despite all bitter conditions, known
as the Great Wall Spirit among Chinese people" (Great Wall Web Site, 2015), meaning that the wall didn't just represent defence, but it was a much
more beautiful and well composed symbol of peace for the Chinese people. The wall was also a landmark for the architecture of the period. The

consisted of "over 7,000 pottery soldiers, horses, chariots, and even weapons" (TravelChinaGuide, 2015).

only one dynasty that ruled all of China the Jin and it lasted only till the death of its ruler. This has lead to the time period being given different names
and boundaries. Some of the names used are the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Six Kingdom period. The former refers to the fact that this
period saw China broken into a clear north and south division while the latter refers to the fact that this time period saw Six Dynasties controlling the

Causes Of The Han Dynasty
Empires rise and they fall, Dynasties come and they go. "The empire, long divided, must unite; long united, must divide. Thus it has ever been." This
quotation in Luo Guanzhong's Romance of the Three Kingdoms best represents the cyclical nature of the dynasties in China. The Han Empire was no
exception; Corruption plagued the Han Dynasty, inevitably leading to its demise. Within the court certain families held excessive powers, this
influence lead to be just as great as the eunuchs and eventually diminishing the authority of the Emperor. On top of this the peasants suffered from
natural disasters that befell upon the empire which was a catalyst for a large scale uprising. The rebellion led to a weaker central government
allowing military leaders and local warlords to rise in power. As such the internal struggle between the eunuchs and government officials played a large
role in the fall of the Han ruled empire, but this was not the sole reason. There were other crucial factors that contributed to the fall such as, family clans
gathering power, natural disasters and decentralisation.
The Han dynasty was the longest imperial dynasty, which lasted around 400 years after the collapse of the Qin Dynasty. The dynasty began with a
struggle between Liu Bang and Xiang Yu which saw Liu Bang, a man of lower social status winning and reuniting the land in 206 BCE (Qian, S. 1971).

Romance Of The Three Kingdoms
"Romance of the Three Kingdoms" romanticizes historical events in the late Han dynasty and the Three Kingdom period. A series of campaigns,
known as Zhuge Liang's Northern Expeditions were adapted and glamorized in order to narrate a fictional incident starring how Zhuge Liang, a
chancellor–regent, who managed to save not only himself without an army, but also the entire empire; "A king whose city was about to be attacked
decided the only thing he could do to save it was to order the gates be flung open. He then told the attacking force that the city was empty and that they
were welcome to enter. Suspicious that the king's words were a trick to tempt them into an ambush, the enemy forces decided to move on and the king's
empty city was saved." The tactic stated above is called the Empty Fort Strategy. Throughout the late eighteenth century,China did not reject the outside
world. It just failed to see that the globe had something to offer. China ran well enough with cheap labour and efficient administration. Supply and
demand was easily met in a way that left no incentive to invest in technological improvement. Plus, China was unaware that an economic, technological
and cultural revolution was taking place in Europe and expanding throughout the rest of the world. For this reason, China did not industrialize in the
way that the West did. China became weak and fell behind the technology race because of its poor leadership. Chinese emperors were more

Compare And Contrast The Three Kingdoms Of China
The Three Kingdom is the bloodiest period of warfare in Chinese History. During which three kingdoms were formed: Wei, Shu and Wu. Due to
the impressive and interesting life of Cao Cao of the Wei state, I have chosen to write about him. A prominent figurehead in the division of the
three kingdoms, Cao Cao was born in Qiao to Cao Song. Cao Cao would grow up to become the official of Luyong. At such a young age he
showcased his ability to lead and cause people to abide by the law regardless of their status. This stern and strict nature is an almost absurd finds
amongst 20 year olds, Cao Cao did not exhibit the usual carefree and rebellious nature assigned with 20 year olds. Due to this Cao Cao would
become promoted officer once the infamous Yellow Turban Rebellion was unleashed. Cao Cao's cunning ability to form strategies allowed him to
hinder and even to defeat the rebels. Once again Cao Cao was promoted to Chancellor, to suppress the spread of the Yellow Turban Rebellion in other
regions of China, during which he preformed his duty justly. His once strict nature that raised him also was his downfall as he crossed paths with
prominent families. Eventually he resigned the position and returned to his home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On The Three Kingdoms

  • 1. Essay On The Three Kingdoms One of the most well know historical periods of Ancient China is the era of the Three Kingdoms, which records the period to some of the most well–known historical figures, heroes, and their complex yet intriguing relationships. The Three Kingdoms was a period of unrest, and battles which initiated in 220AD, when Wei replaced the Eastern Han Dynasty, and lasted until the reunification of lands in 280AD. Towards the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the emperor was losing power and influence, which led to the inability for Eastern Han to unite the whole land. At the same time, the country was in anarchy as groups of warriors were uprising and rebelling against Eastern Han, proclaiming themselves emperor. However, these powers were too weak to claim ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The complex relations during the Three Kingdoms supressed the dominating country Wei from easily attacking and taking over the weaker ones, Shu and Wu. This involves the two smaller, weaker countries joining forces to withstand the greater, and more powerful one. The outstanding generals', leaders', and strategists' battles also aided each country to form strong ties and uphold their respective lands, while taking over other unclaimed/not well–maintained lands. This bond between the Three Kingdoms has continued for a long time before the fall of each kingdoms, with Jin replacing Wei, and merged all three into one large Kingdom. There are many factors that contributed to the disintegration of land following the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty. Amongst which, the main reason was due to the chaos and uprising as feudal lords fought each other for territories. The court ministers of late Eastern Han were corrupt, in particular Dong Zuo was considered one of the most corrupted, and manipulative officials of the time, and was detested by citizens nationwide. This served as an excuse and motive for many lords to repel against the emperor, or restore Han ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Comparing The Painting Dante And The Three Kingdoms The painting "Dante and the Three Kingdoms" by Domenico di Michelino corresponds to the three world of the Christian afterlife in Dante's "Divine Comedy". Dante stands in red–robed colossus in front of the city of Florence. Behind him, the art shows the three worlds of Christian afterlife, which are the heavenly paradise, hell, and Mount Purgatory, thereby revealing the celestial spheres. The painting dates back to around 1465. On the left side, it shows the sinners getting down to hell and souls appear being burnt by the hellfire. Dante says does as they walked inside hell, he noticed famous people, who were great but still went to hell. The first circle is limbo whereby those who never got baptized get punished. The second ring is where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each terrace symbolize a different kind of sin. One has to pass through all the levels to make sure that the sins are cleansed so as to get to heaven. On top of Purgatory there is the moon, which according to the artist, represents the heavenly paradise. I also, shows Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, representing the earthly paradise. The seventh terrace is immediately at the top; it faces flames and strong winds from below. The level represents the lustfulness. Some of the sinners appear to move in the fire with the guilt of going against the marriage virtues, while others are motionless, depicting the lust. The sixth terrace represents the gluttony – the sin of overeating. There is an apple tree in the center of the terrace and a steam that flows on top of the tree from the mountain. The sinners appear starved due to the aroma of the apple, and they cannot help the scent of the ripe apples and the wate. They have to feed on them only to make them hungrier. The fifth terrace show people lying on the ground with their faces looking down. It shows that they repenting from the sins of involving themselves in earthy things. Dante on his way felt the trembling of Mount Purgatory, a sign of sinner being released from the burden of their sins, and this brought about praising by everyone. This level represents the sin of extreme greed, and it is believed to possess the worst punishment. On the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Chaos and Division of Asia's History Essay The assigned readings about Asian history lead a unified conclusion that the past (history) of Asia was characterized with chaos and internal divisions. "China, once again entered an era of divisiveness and chaos. Competing warlords dominated China for the next 350 years" (The Golden Age of China: 79). China is a perfect symbol of Asia's history because if studied from the past, the history of China demonstrates how divisions took place in the country's political and economic spheres. China's history reveals how the religion led to emergence of chaos in the country. This shows that religion, in the history of Asia, was more divisive than uniting when individual countries considered their religions as different. Religious harmonization of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initially, Chinese had coexisted well under one rule. However, three powerful dynasties emerged after theHan dynasty, forming three kingdoms of Wei, Shu, and Wu. An element of democracy started getting into China's politics, though at the time of the three dynasties, the kings had amassed power through their naval strength. The fact that power was divided from one kingdom to three, however, shows decentralization of influence, which is an element of democracy. The formation of the three dynasties in China did not offer any practical solution to the chaotic situation in the country. This disapproves the imagination that democracy was growing in the country. If it was indeed democracy, then its growth had not ended. This is because after the formation of the three dynasties, political division in China widened even further. No powerful dynasty in the continent's history appeared to be answering the question of China's unity. It appeared like political plurality had entered in China to stay. For example, the failure of the Jin Dynasty to solve the puzzle of China's political unity shows how divisive China was becoming. Polarization of leadership was more serious in Northern China. This judgment arises from the fact that the Jin dynasty did not solve the puzzle of multiple kingdoms in the north of China. Sixteen kingdoms emerged in the north as the Jin dynasty attempted to unite China. The spread of Buddhism to China, and its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ozymandias By Percy Shelley And King Lear Do you want to be a success in the world? Excessive pride or self–confidence is expressed through writings like in, "Ozymandias" by Percy Shelley and King Lear by William Shakespeare. Many characters in literature become corrupted when having the ultimate power. Power is the root of all evil and the contractions and comparisons expressed will help, you, the reader pick a view point. Ultimate power has the ability to turn the strongest man into the weakest link. Percy Shelley relates power to be like a disease, and like a disease it pollutes anything it comes in contact with. Shakespeare's manipulation of words expresses his opinion that those in power corrupt. He expresses the corruption of power through his characters and themes in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By calling himself "king of kings", he alludes to God and believes he is greater than all other men. He ruled his kingdom solely on the fear of those beneath him. The intimidating language on the pedestal and the statue made for him display that Ozymandias possessed almighty power. To end the poem, Shelley writes, "Round the decay of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare The line and level sands stretch far away." As time passed, the sand literally destroyed the symbol of what was once the greatest man alive. In comparison to Ozymandias, King Lear was too corrupted by power. In William Shakespeare's tragedy, King Lear, the corruption of power leads to the downfall of his kingdom and the king himself. In contrast to Ozymandias, King Lear is not only a monarch, but has the responsibilities of his family as well. To begin King Lear, Shakespeare starts by Lear giving up power. King Lear originally wants to divide his kingdom amongst his three daughters, the two eldest Goneril and Regan and his youngest daughter Cordelia. Before the empire can be divided the girls must share their dying love for Lear in a speech. The two eldest daughters going first, exaggerate their love for their father. In contrast, although Cordelia expresses her love for her father, it is only as a daughter should love their father, nothing more. Lear's pride ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ancient Scriptures And Its Effects On Chinese Culture Dating back to ancient scriptures, the history of China is comprised of over 3000 years worth of rich culture and no doubt is one of the most advanced civilizations to ever be discovered. Embedded within it's history, China is known to be one of the most popular tourist spots as a result of it's resistance to Westernization for several centuries. Aside from the scriptures and art, historians have focused more on Chinese clothing to recount the delicate history behind Chinese cultures and the centuries of transitional dynasties and periods. "Correct attire was regarded as the ultimate expression of Chinese culture and identity, differentiating them from 'inferior ' foreign neighbors while making social and gender distinctions within their society. The ancient Chinese clothing had specific cultural meaning, with properly attired bodies reflecting order and control and unadorned bodies and feet serving as visible signs of disorder and dangerous nonconformity with the individual risking association to barbarian outsiders" (Schwebius, 2008). Similar to other civilizations in history, the Chinese used many sumptuary laws to govern and regulate a divide between the social hierarchies. The Chinese systemized their way of dress through robes, color and symbolic motifs. The use of bright colors, bold motifs of Chinese characters and mythical creatures did not just simply classify someone's place in society, however it told legendary stories of tragedy, adversity, and triumph. • 6. Confucianism In The Scene Lost And Found By Liu Bei Play Analysis The scene Lost and Found is a precise example of Confucianism, Daoism, and Sun Tzu's ideals. The dialogue highlights the core values of these three belief systems. Through Liu Bei's contemplation of the day's events, we see a shift from the realities of harsh warfare to the response a caring leader. During the scene, Liu Bei consults with his advisor, Kongming, in hopes of restoring his resolve to continue with the war. This scene not only reveals the core values of Shu's culture but also the personality of their leader Liu Bei. He is known for being loyal to his people, and this scene emphasizes those traits more than previous chapters. Lost and Found goes in depth into Liu Bei's inner thoughts and regrets, giving a more complete explanation of how he responds to his mistakes. At the core of Confucian principles are the beliefs that any individual should follow strict morals and virtues, and Confucius would find that these values are apparent in Lost and Found. Among his principles are the 5 core relationships, including filial piety and the bond between husband and wife. In Lost and Found, Liu Bei is traumatized that he has gone against the very principles of these bonds, as he has failed in his task to protect and care for both his son and wife. His disgust with his actions is purely Confucian, and Confucius would recognize Liu Bei's failure to follow the core relationships. After Liu Bei's discussion with Kongming, another of Confucius's 5 relationships is present: that of the ruler and those he rules. Although there is some friendship between the two men that blurs this line, it cannot be denied that Kongming serves Liu Bei. Even as he gives his Lord a somewhat harsh talking to, he remains respectful. Due to the friendship, Kongming is able to get away with being a bit less cordial than he otherwise would be, but he still respects the divide between them. Confucius would approve of this bond separately but would disapprove of the blurring of social lines. Confucius would want the two relationships to be distinct with clear boundaries. Beyond relationships, Confucius believes a ruler should lead by example, by having a strong moral code, being benevolent, taking part in rituals, and overall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Loyalty In The Family Loyalty is one of the simplest moral traits to understand. Either someone is loyal, or they are disloyal–there are not many shades of grey in between. For this reason, loyalty is one of the most desired traits in our friends, family, and partners we have in our lives. Loyalty weaves hidden bonds among people that in some cases can never be broken. Such is the case of Pak Chesang, devoted servant of Nulji, 19th king of the Korean kingdom of Silla. Pak's story, found in the second chapter of Chung, Hyo, Ye: Tales of filial devotion, loyalty, respect and benevolence from the history and folklore of Korea, stuck out to me as an example of a man who is devotedly loyal to his nation. I see his devotion less as loyalty to the king as a person, but instead loyalty to what the king represents: the government and cohesiveness of the Sillan kingdom. Nulji's distraught behavior over his brothers impairs peace in the land, an action Pak works to rectify at all costs. His life means nothing as long as Silla retains order for the foreseeable future. Even his family is seen as less important than the safety of Silla, an act best shown when Pak foregoes seeing his family in favor of heading directly to Japan. The king recognizes the sacrifices of Pak's family when he hears news of their death. For Pak's wife and children, however, his death may ring bittersweet. They are proud of his allegiance to Silla, yet I feel deep down they curse him for not returning. In both societies, the genesis of their key religions were quite similar. Both were mainly based off of forces of nature and kept shrines in places that were pure and natural. Polytheism was a common practice and a different god was devoted to each different aspect of nature, such as wind, fire, and agriculture. The Role Of Wealth In The Three Kingdoms In feministic interpretation, The Three Kingdoms expresses a clear gender binary, dividing the male and female characters into their respective roles and responsibilities expected of them during the times the story takes place. Females are represented as stationary quest objects or trophy for the main character Ivashko and his brothers to obtain, who are on the other hand assertive, demanding, and often decision–making. In The Three Kingdoms, beauty and wealth are the major values linked to female figures, serving as fundamental standard for males to find a perfect bride. This is illustrated when Ivashko enters the underworld kingdoms. • 30. Downfall Of Macbeth Essay The Downfall of Macbeth Macbeth's decision to hear the three first prophecies determined his destiny. By doing this we learned his true nature. Lady Macbeth could be considered a witch according to the standards of Shakespeare's day. In the same way that witches subvert the natural order of religion and society, Lady Macbeth subverts the order of the sexes and the family by trying to have more power than the head of the family, her husband. Not only does she act out of order, but several of her actions imply that she is actually witch–like(.) Lady Macbeth challenges her husband's manhood by being more aggressive than he is, taunting him, and suggesting, "When you durst do it, then you were a man"(1.7.55). Secondly, Lady Macbeth calls upon seemingly malevolent "...spirits/ That tend on mortal thoughts" (1.5.40–41) to aid her in her plot to overcome her husband's reluctance and to force him to kill Duncan. Although devotedly loyal, she rejects her subordinate role as wife and asks to be transformed "...into an instrument of death whose cruelty transcends the limitations of her sex and of her mortal nature" (Truax 368). Machiavelli explains that the "state" covers "all forms of organizations of power, whether republican or princely." Machiavelli nots in Chapter one that it is much easier to rule over hereditary state rather than new principalities for two reasons. The Chinese people's progression with stone and pottery developed drastically in the Qin Dynasty. The Qin Dynasty followed the Zhou Dynasty and it was during this period that the 'Great Wall of China' was established. The ruler 'Qin Shihuangdi' "is credited with building the Great Wall of China by uniting several preexisting defensive walls" (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2015). These pre–existing walls were less significant clay walls built by individually established towns near to the border. Some sources state that the wall was for defensive purposes but some also say that "the Great Wall speaks well for a growth in the mixed soil of peace and war. It stands for some power, an unbeatable power despite all bitter conditions, known as the Great Wall Spirit among Chinese people" (Great Wall Web Site, 2015), meaning that the wall didn't just represent defence, but it was a much more beautiful and well composed symbol of peace for the Chinese people. The wall was also a landmark for the architecture of the period. The same ruler is responsible for the creation of the 'Terracotta Army', its construction occurred as the ruler desired a tomb guarded by an army. The army consisted of "over 7,000 pottery soldiers, horses, chariots, and even weapons" (TravelChinaGuide, 2015). Following the Qin was the Han Dynasty occurring 206BC–AD220. The reality is more complicated though several provinces have semi–autonomous status and cities like Hong Kong and Macao have freedoms the rest of China does not. The time frame is also easy to mark start and end with the rise and fall of the dynasty. Yet in the time following the Han and until the Sui there were only one dynasty that ruled all of China the Jin and it lasted only till the death of its ruler. This has lead to the time period being given different names and boundaries. Some of the names used are the Northern and Southern Dynasties and the Six Kingdom period. The former refers to the fact that this period saw China broken into a clear north and south division while the latter refers to the fact that this time period saw Six Dynasties controlling the southern part of the country. Others will divide the time period into three separate eras, these being the Three State or Kingdom Period, the Western Jin, and the Northern and Southern Dynasties. The first refers to the three kingdoms that formed after the fall of the Han also called the three kingdom period. The western Jin was the name of the brief uniting dynasty the eastern Jin lasted longer in the south but China was no longer unified. This Northern and Southern Dynasties refers strictly to time after the fall of the Jin until the rise of the Sui. I will use the term northern and southern dynasties for the larger time period as I feel it would be improper for us to use the term Six Kingdom Period to refer to the north which ultimately reunified China. • 35. Causes Of The Han Dynasty Empires rise and they fall, Dynasties come and they go. "The empire, long divided, must unite; long united, must divide. Thus it has ever been." This quotation in Luo Guanzhong's Romance of the Three Kingdoms best represents the cyclical nature of the dynasties in China. The Han Empire was no exception; Corruption plagued the Han Dynasty, inevitably leading to its demise. Within the court certain families held excessive powers, this influence lead to be just as great as the eunuchs and eventually diminishing the authority of the Emperor. On top of this the peasants suffered from natural disasters that befell upon the empire which was a catalyst for a large scale uprising. The rebellion led to a weaker central government allowing military leaders and local warlords to rise in power. As such the internal struggle between the eunuchs and government officials played a large role in the fall of the Han ruled empire, but this was not the sole reason. There were other crucial factors that contributed to the fall such as, family clans gathering power, natural disasters and decentralisation. The Han dynasty was the longest imperial dynasty, which lasted around 400 years after the collapse of the Qin Dynasty. The dynasty began with a struggle between Liu Bang and Xiang Yu which saw Liu Bang, a man of lower social status winning and reuniting the land in 206 BCE (Qian, S. 1971). During the course of the Han dynasty there were technological and cultural advancements but in the later ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Romance Of The Three Kingdoms "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" romanticizes historical events in the late Han dynasty and the Three Kingdom period. A series of campaigns, known as Zhuge Liang's Northern Expeditions were adapted and glamorized in order to narrate a fictional incident starring how Zhuge Liang, a chancellor–regent, who managed to save not only himself without an army, but also the entire empire; "A king whose city was about to be attacked decided the only thing he could do to save it was to order the gates be flung open. He then told the attacking force that the city was empty and that they were welcome to enter. Suspicious that the king's words were a trick to tempt them into an ambush, the enemy forces decided to move on and the king's empty city was saved." The tactic stated above is called the Empty Fort Strategy. Throughout the late eighteenth century,China did not reject the outside world. It just failed to see that the globe had something to offer. China ran well enough with cheap labour and efficient administration. Supply and demand was easily met in a way that left no incentive to invest in technological improvement. Plus, China was unaware that an economic, technological and cultural revolution was taking place in Europe and expanding throughout the rest of the world. For this reason, China did not industrialize in the way that the West did. China became weak and fell behind the technology race because of its poor leadership. Chinese emperors were more ... • 37. Compare And Contrast The Three Kingdoms Of China The Three Kingdom is the bloodiest period of warfare in Chinese History. During which three kingdoms were formed: Wei, Shu and Wu. Due to the impressive and interesting life of Cao Cao of the Wei state, I have chosen to write about him. A prominent figurehead in the division of the three kingdoms, Cao Cao was born in Qiao to Cao Song. Cao Cao would grow up to become the official of Luyong. At such a young age he showcased his ability to lead and cause people to abide by the law regardless of their status. This stern and strict nature is an almost absurd finds amongst 20 year olds, Cao Cao did not exhibit the usual carefree and rebellious nature assigned with 20 year olds. Due to this Cao Cao would become promoted officer once the infamous Yellow Turban Rebellion was unleashed. Cao Cao's cunning ability to form strategies allowed him to hinder and even to defeat the rebels. Once again Cao Cao was promoted to Chancellor, to suppress the spread of the Yellow Turban Rebellion in other regions of China, during which he preformed his duty justly. His once strict nature that raised him also was his downfall as he crossed paths with prominent families. Eventually he resigned the position and returned to his home. ...
