In the play Three Sisters the character Vershinin says, "We're not happy and we can't be happy; we
only want happiness." So, what's the purpose of life? Is it to be happy? Everyone has that desire, to
have happiness. We even base our decision we by how it will affect our happiness. In our life we
experience happiness and unhappiness, but we are oblivious as to what happiness is. What comes to

suggest that although we say we are happy, our behavior says different. In philosophy hedonism says
the pursuit of one's own pleasure should be the aim of all happiness. You must put yourself first and

15 year old kid, moving from one city to the next after almost every 2 years with my father,
everything looked transient and temporary. I had to give up my school, my friends and my comfort

youngest of five so, I have seen the lives of my siblings unfold in front of me and this has taught me
more about life than anything else. Each of my siblings has their own stories and troubles that they

and you may come from the same place but your life can be vastly different. Of my siblings only two
graduated regularly from High School my oldest brother, David, and my youngest older brother,

When I was fifteen, I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, and my life forever changed. At that young

fire, and you do the world a disservice by not using your spark. I want to pursue business law, because

will be pediatric cancer, with a focus on patients/survivors, and their families. The toll of cancer on an
individual, and their family is devastating both emotionally, and financially. I have seen the financial
burden first–hand, and was placed on emergency medicaid in order to be treated. Money is scarce
when a child goes through cancer, and I hope to alleviate some of that burden. My family was blessed
to have a church community, that generously made it possible for my parents to pay their mortgage
while I was in the hospital. The proximity of the hospital to my home, made it possible for family to
be nearby, and not hours away. My family got lucky to some extent, because we had a support group
that helped get us through my cancer fight. Not everybody has that support though, and there are
many families that are not able to stay with their children through their cancer battle. Families' are
overwhelmed with their child's health, and stressing about financials is not helpful. I would like to
help take that financial burden off of families, so that they can worry about what is truly important,
their child getting better. My foundation, will begin with cancer, but I would like to take it further than
that. I feel strongly about education, and about the need of more equal representation of women, and
minorities in positions of leadership. Education, is the root of all social, and economic problems. In
the United States we complain about poverty, but treat the symptoms, rather than the cause of it. In

Ever since I was a little girl, I've been confused by the world. I would question just about everything
and overthink about things like why some people have better access to food, water, shelter, and
healthcare, while others are practically helpless when they get sick and are forced to hope for the best.
I would also wonder about what life is like in different parts of the world, and how the human brain
differs from person to person. There were so many things I didn't understand, but the one thing I was
sure of is that everybody deserves a fair chance at life, more specifically, everybody deserves good
healthcare. My confusion and overwhelming desire to understand the world led to frustration which
eventually led to a breakthrough of me understanding what my purpose of life is. I've always been a
carer with a huge heart and strong soul, all which are perfect traits for a nurse. I still don't understand
the world but I am at peace with the fact that there are things we will never be able to understand.
Instead of overthinking and being angry with the universe, we can put the things we do know to good
use. The human body is still a huge mystery and we only understand a small portion of how the

From my own personal experience, there are two types of students in college – those who know
exactly what they want to do and have a plan laid out for achieving that goal, and people who have no
idea what they want to with their lives. I fall into the latter category. However, purpose, in my
opinion, is not something that falls into your lap nor is it something that can be thrust upon you. A
Purpose is an ever–changing that never ceases to manifest itself in your life. However complex it may
become I believe that with a fair bit of guidance and determination, most people can find some sort of
path or purpose in their own lives. All my life I have been bombarded with unrealistic and cliche
messages. Some of my teacher's personal favorites included "You can do anything as long as you put
your mind to it" or "With hard work anything is possible." While it may be true that hard work is the
key to success, hard work alone will not get you where you want to be. I learned very early on that
humans have limitations. Perhaps the hardest part about going through life is working around your
limitations. The act of recognizing flaws and weaknesses that you have only brings you closer to

What is the purpose of life? Does everyone have a set of moral codes? In the novel, Ramayana,
written by R.K. Narayan, the purpose of life and morality codes are examined and observed by the
characters. This story is an ancient Indian epic and is considered to be a "sweeping tale of abduction,
battle, and courtship played out in a universe thronged with heroes, deities, and demons." This Indian
myth is "one of India's greatest literary lights" and is "an ancient treasure to be savored as much for its
wisdom, spiritual depth, and insight as for its colorful portrayal of otherworldly passion and strife." In
the novel, which is originated from a poem written by the legenday Indian poet Kamban, a concept
known as dharma is mentioned and examined. This concept is depicted in the novel by many
characters, mostly by the main characters, Rama and Ravana. Dharma is "the supreme method for
improving the quality of our human life." It is a considered to be way of life that everyone is expected
to follow throughout their life. Dharma can be considered to be the maintenance of morals and virtues
depending on his or her position from birth or society. Every character in the book, Ramayana, has his
or her dharma that they should intend to follow. In the Ramayana, the epic hero, Rama, followed his
dharma, while the antagonist of the story, Ravana, did not follow his dharma.

My family got lucky to some extent, because we had a support group that helped get us through my cancer fight. Not everybody has that support though, and there are many families that are not able to stay with their children through their cancer battle. Families' are overwhelmed with their child's health, and stressing about financials is not helpful. I would like to help take that financial burden off of families, so that they can worry about what is truly important, their child getting better.
