Writing A Persuasive Essay
It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good
essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a
passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I
have the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with
an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I couldn't convince you that the long hours of
school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of
passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First
things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless...show more content...
You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds
the strongest possible argument to win over the reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job
to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a
bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this
essay. I know what you're thinking, this is ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there
reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot
before, lack of passion words don't form right and you're just not clear enough. I see the irony here,
this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In
the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered
this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you
finally settle you know it's not your best work and the grade shows. Or you did it last minute,
reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point

Persuasive Communication and
Persuasive Communication and
Effective Negotiations
Introduction
In business the most vital skill is communication. In a setting where ideas are the business, it is
imperative to be able to communicate those ideas effectively. The most important part of
communication is the persuasive message. Communication is defined as a process by which we give
and express meaning in an effort to create shared understanding. This process requires a huge range
of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing, speaking, listening, questioning, analyzing,
observing, and evaluating[1]. Use of these processes is developmental and transfers to all areas of
life: home, school, community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that...show more

Before people buy into a suggestion they want to see that the persuader is flexible enough to respond
to their concerns. Compromises can often become better, more sustainable, shared solutions.
3. Thinking the secret of persuasion lies in presenting great arguments. Great arguments matter, but
they are only one part. Other factors matter just as much, such as credibility and their ability to create
an equally beneficial position for themselves and their audience, (a win win situation), to connect on
the correct emotional level and to communicate through words that makes arguments come alive.
4. Assuming persuasion is a one–time effort. Persuasion is a process. Common solutions are rarely
reached on the first try.
Effective Negotiations
Effective negotiations are a method of working a compromise or agreement in which the parties to
the negotiations try to achieve their goals in reasonable and practical manner through the process of
give and take using effective communication.
Negotiation is a central activity of our lives. Knowingly or unknowingly we negotiate every day,
with our colleagues, and bosses, family members, friends, strangers, and some times even with
our–selves. We use negotiation to realize our expectations, to achieve goals, work out a problem or
simply to avoid trouble. Sometimes we negotiate to assist others in resolving their problems.
Negotiation is a problem solving

Persuasive Speech : Effective Communication
In writing it's important to have an understanding of what you're trying to convey for your audience
in addition to how you you will present your ideas. Effective communication extends beyond having
well organized writing expressed in complete and coherent sentences. The style, tone and clarity of
writing must also be considered, as they are constantly changing relative to the audience. Again,
analyzing one's audience and purpose is essential to successful writing. Appropriately, when choosing
the most effective language, it is important to consider the document objective as well as the reader.
In essence, this idea of effective use of language has been the overarching theme of this online
English course. Each writing assignment...show more content...
Thus, the style of language used within the text was often industry specific and possessed a more
academic feeling. For example, in the text I often used abbreviations and slang acceptable within the
discourse such as, SCM Supply chain management, KPI Key performance indicator, and RDT
Resource dependence. The word choice in this assignment is indicative of that fact that language is
chosen in a manner that is appropriate for both the audience and the purpose of the writing.
Furthermore, perhaps the greatest contrast and the most evident of how language works differently
in various types of writing is the discussion blog post. The blog post allowed the class to engage in
different types of formality of language. The formality of the language one uses should match the
formality of the situation and the relationship between the writer and reader. Therefore, as the
public audience was a class of online students taking a required writing course in the summer, the
formality of my writing has often been very informal. For example, in my blog post addressing
my concern over the unworthy power of BeyoncГ© I wrote, "It was the year 2008 when the
world was blessed with the images of BeyoncГ© (unapologetically) dancing around in a leotard.
Not only is BeyoncГ©'s single lady video one of her most notable hits it begins her what is now a
decade long relationship ending spree" (Marquis, 2016 ). The formality

Persuasive Essay
"Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be
graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr.
Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously
groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and
about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose
and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already
rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death
penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly
making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line.
I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a
tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk.
Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such
desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that awaffle
was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward
to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked
everyone the age old question: "Do you like

Persuasive Techniques Essay
The Effectiveness of Persuasive Techniques No advertisement is the same, especially since there is
so much competition between companies to sell their products. Many advertisements may seem
simple at first glance, but most of them contain complex persuasion techniques. Some of these
techniques include pathos, ethos, and logos, and they are included in almost every advertisement.
Just using one of these techniques might not always be effective, so it's important to try to include
all three. A great example of this is the snickers advertisement including Mr. T. At first glance of the
ad, the celebrity, Mr. T, telling you to "get some nuts", which is ethos, but that isn't the only
persuasive device included in this ad. The use of ethos in an advertisement really catches the
reader's attention, it also makes the reader feel like if they used that product they would get the
approval from that celebrity. That is exactly...show more content...
Snickers uses pathos by making the reader feel scared and intimidated by Mr. T if they do not
purchase a snickers. They achieve this by putting a scary figure as the center of attention on the
ad, they also have him point at the reader and make an angry face making them feel afraid if they
don't buy a Snickers. This combination of ethos and pathos is very effective in persuading the
readers of this advertisement to buy the product this company is selling. The only other
persuasive device in this advertisement is logos. Logos is used by making the reader feel like it
is only logical to eat a snickers because Mr. T is eating one. Also in the advertisement Mr. T has a
necklace that says "get some nuts", and if he got a necklace saying to get some Snickers, then they
must be good. Without the use of this device, the reader would know that Mr. T endorses this
product, but they wouldn't know if he actually liked the product or

Persuasive Essay On Vacations
Most of the people take a vacation because they want to take a break from their routine life. Last
summer, my husband I desired to take a break from our exhausted life. We started digging website
for the place for a vacation. My kids want to go to Pakistan as usual yet I wanted to discover new
county. I was bored of visiting Pakistan repeatedly. Although it always good to meet families and
friends, this time I want to discover something new.Since I hate surprises so I made sure I plan
vacation ahead of time. Planning and organizing the vacation reduces the chances of my mood
swings. So, I started browsing for exotic vacation places and started gathering the information of
Australia, Bank Kok, South Africa and New Zealand. The information we had gathered for our
vacation destinations were weather forecast, events, and places of attraction. My preference was
ocean and my husband wanted to do scuba diving so, after gathering all the information about our
interesting destination, it wasn't easy to opt out any one of them. After weeks of argument, we
had resolved the issue and decided to visit the place which I had chosen. Australia was a place
which I always aim to visit. Staggering seascape and spectacular beauty of Australia are the main
attraction for visitors. Since we are USA citizen we don't need to obtain a visa to enter in Australia;
however, we do require to obtain Electronic Travel Authority(ETA) which can be obtained online
after paying $20.Excursion to Australia was well planned from having an adequate amount of
money, getting the car from the airport to booking the hotel online. We departed from Chicago
(ORD) to Australia (SYD)and collected the hire car from Sydney Airport and with the help of
our GPS, we reached to our hotel. The weather was extremely pleasant as compared to Chicago,
we didn't need to wear jacket throughout our whole trip. The next day we visited Opera House
which was shaped like a huge shell, we had a lunch there and took a tour of that huge building.
Australia has all unique thing animals, historical places, ocean, forests, and deserts. Our next
destination was Great Barrier Reef we decided to go by road Great

Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection
Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate
actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay
needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed,
I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as
well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the
weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these
suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive
essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay
would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not
being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that
wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be
persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the
experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your
readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing
your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument
was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why
I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this
helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would
have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but
one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more
clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my
clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a
persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers
can have a full understanding of your

Persuasive Essay On Choices In Life
I believe that everyone in this life has choices. The choices we make define who we are as people
and what we stand for. Choosing one path over another may be the best or worst decision you
could ever make. However, once you have chosen, stick to your decision because you made that
choice for a reason. Even if it is to have lunch at a certain restaurant over another, or a bigger
decision like choosing your major. Something in your life helped you make that decision, and the
worst thing you can do is live your life with the regret of a choice. If your decision ends up badly,
simply make another choice. Choose a new path. In the words of my oh so wise History teacher,
"Never second guess yourself because that's worse than making the wrong choice in the end."
One of the best examples that comes to mind is a story I heard a few weeks ago, based on a real
event. In 1979, a man named Lee Strobel and his family went to a restaurant one evening and he
gave his 7 year old daughter a nickel to get a gumball from the machine and a few moments later,
she came back to the table choking on the gum. They didn't know what to do and if they waited
for an ambulance they feared it would be too late. All of a sudden, a woman came up and said
that she is a nurse and can help. The woman, after getting the gumball out of the little girl, told her
parents that her and her husband were headed to another restaurant when all of a sudden she made
a last minute choice to go here. Because of her choice, a little girl's life was saved. Hearing stories
such as this one, reminds me of all of the choices I have made, and how they have affected me.
When I was 6, my family up and moved to a new school called Knox County. I loved it there for I
had so many friends and nothing bad ever happened. Then at the end of 5th grade, my dad got a
new job so we moved schools again. This time I was 11 and starting middle school at a small
school called Pilot Grove, and I've been here ever since. There are times I catch myself wondering
what would've happened if we had stayed in Knox or the first town I ever lived in, Philadelphia (no
not the one in Pennsylvania). Sometimes I even believe that things would be a lot better if we had
stayed there. There are

Persuasive Essay On Success
Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be
successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in
meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that
highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success
is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race,
religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for
everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It"
encourages its audience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it
happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which
include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun
(Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed
the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am
also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as
confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to
work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive.

Persuasive Essay On Tipping
The United States is one of the few counties in the world still using the old fashion tipping system.
"During the late 19th century legislature rapidly abolishes the practice of tipping when it is
introduced by wealthy Americans. Eventually restauranteurs find a way to prospect of passing labor
costs to consumer, which convinced the American to accept the practice of tipping." When many
American don't understand the purpose of tipping is for but somehow it is customer responsibility
to pay the restaurant employees based on their service. There are many reasons to argue about the
tipping system. But, most of them ignore the very basic problem with abolishing tipping in America,
the most difficult of which is our absurdly low minimum wage. The practice is abhorrent from a
historical perspective. Recently, New York City's Sushi Yasuda owner Scott Rosenberg announced
that he decided to eliminate tipping altogether. Following the custom in Japan, he decided to pay
his employees higher wages and redistribute the cost to the customers by raising the prices on the
menu. Is this a good idea? Rosenberg, who abolished tipping at his restaurant, made a very
powerful statement against the Outdated of tipping practice. He penned what many others believe
is one of the most succinct and yet irrefutable way. The staff no longer worry about making a lot of
tip on weekend and penny on weekday. Rosenberg quote "The risk is that your prices appear to be
high on the menu. But if you have

Persuasive Essay: Summer Health Tips For Children
Summer health tips for kids
Summer is a fun–filled season for kids. Now that schools are out for summer, kids would want to
take full advantage of their additional time and the warm weather by going outdoors and being
lively. They play outside more often than other times of the year and are exposed more to sunlight,
insects, and infected water and foods. They spend more time riding skateboards and bicycles,
swimming in backyard lakes or pools, sitting around backyard barbecues and campfires, lighting
fireworks and playing close to lawnmowers among others. With the slew of latest toy recalls and the
increased injury risk during the summer months, it is essential to be vigilant about the kids' health

Persuasive Essay On The Internet
It can be considered as one of the most valuable types of technology. During the last several years
we have come to be more and more dependent on the Internet and in particular moving huge chunks
of data across large distances. The Internet allows people to communicate with each other across the
world within mere fractions of seconds with the help of E–mail and Messenger. The Internet also
allows for expressing opinions and obtaining up–to–date information from the world–wide–web. The
new software is being developed every day which uses the Internet as the carrier for long distance
voice calls and video conferencing like FaceTime and Skype, which would hold the key to the future
of our society. Whether someone is sending e–mail, posting on message boards, or reading the news
online, people are guaranteed the same freedom of self–expression that we enjoy offline. In other
countries, the mere act of accessing websites that criticize the government is an offense that can land
you in prison. Australia, similar to the United States, perceives and ensures a person's freedom of
expression. Although, they have an alternate view on what is appropriate on the Internet. Australia
has taken the position to confine adults privilege of the right to speak freely on the Internet, in order
to avoid children for getting material that is esteemed unsuitable for minors. However, it also averts
content considered "objectionable" to be uploaded on the internet, in this manner limiting the right

Persuasive Essay : The Tips Of Weight Loss
You've heard it time and time again – Eat less, exercise more and you lose weight. So you start
counting those calories, you take up jogging or go to a gym – and still you don't lose weight.
You try a new diet and lose a few pounds– then 6 months later the weight is back again.
Weight loss can seem very difficult, but here are 10 practical reasons about why you can't lose
weight, along with my tips for getting over your weight problems.
1. Your Targets are too Harsh. In the rush of enthusiasm when you decide to lose some pounds you
set yourself big goals. Sure, I can manage on 1000 calories a day. Sure I can cut out chocolate
completely. I'll enter that marathon in 6 weeks time.
Set yourself manageable goals " I will lose 8 pounds in a month", I will increase my level of exercise
a little this week and a little more next
Don't ban any food it will make you think about it more. Make sensible choices; " I will allow
myself a treat of a small amount of chocolate at the weekend"
See this as a long term life change not a quick fix
2. Your Expectations are too High. Ever started a diet then hopped on the scale a few days later
expecting big results? How about dropping off a diet because you didn't lose any weight one week
Only measure your progress infrequently, weight fluctuates naturally so don't expect daily success.
Once a week is OK. Once a month is better.
We all face disappointments during the process. If you've had a bad week, just keep going the next

Persuasive Essay On Field Trips
Spending money always seems like it is a burden, unless you're splurging on yourself buying that
handbag that you have always wanted, or the belt that cost $500. When we spend it on field trips
for kids to be able to get a hands on experience rather than just sit in a boring classroom, well that's
a completely different story. If that's the case, then we should feel great about spending the money
on our kids, it's going towards a excellent cause, one that has the potential to change a child's
perspective on learning. Many kids feel that the classroom is extremely boring, too bland for their

The free admission idea is a breakthrough due to the possibility that the child's parents lack the
resources to take him/her to a museum, but the school and the museum can give the child this
experience through education. I reminisce back to 5th grade, the start of the end of elementary. The
feeling of desperation hit me, I felt aggravated and perplexed because school was just plain
boring. My eyes and ears had opened up, and I felt like I had a tiny enlightenment when I had
heard that we were attending a field trip to Seaworld, in order to learn about marine biology.
Consequently, I ended up paying attention from their, I found school a bit more exhilarating and I
started to try harder than what I was before. What field trips did for me can happen to any other kid
out there.Furthermore, college trips can also help a high school teenager get a feel for the college
life, and help them understand that education is important in today's age. Without this type of
insight, teens might feel lost or unsure about what they want to do in life so they end up dropping
out or just barely finishing high school. Therefore, this budget really needs to expand for the
better of our kids. Even if we spend 100 million dollars on field trips, or just enough for a couple per
year, the money used is going to a positive cause. Our

How To Write A Persuasive Essay
Writing essay is one of the things that I used to dislike before. For me, writing an essay was a
difficult and boring thing. However, I change my mind when I was doing the assignment,
"Persuasive Essay". This essay is my first English essay, and it was a quite challenging task for me.
In this assignment , I learned a lot. For example, to use the transition words to connect each
paragraph. Also, to use other writer's words to make my idea be more powerful. Thus, this
assignment improves my writing skills a lot. Before, I didn't know that I have to use the transition
words in an essay. For me, an essay is constituted by many single paragraphs. However, everything
is different when I was doing this assignment, Persuasive Essay. I noticed that every paragraph
should support theme to make an essay stronger. Also, after Ms. Weller marked this assignment, I
learned that using transition words can create a powerful link between my ideas. For example,
using the word, "in addition" , can make two paragraphs connect to each other. It also can make
readers understand the logic of an essay. Therefore, I' ve learned the writing skill which can make
each paragraph be connected from this assignment....show more content...

using the quote or data can make the theme of an essay be stronger and more persuasive. For
example, I use the quote from Steven Crowder, the author of "TheTop 5 Reasons College May Be
Waste Of Time In 2015", to support my idea, going to college is unnecessary. The quote not only
can make an essay more cogent but also can make readers agree with writer's thinking. Thus, I've

Schools have been using the same learning techniques for a long time. Since technology has been
evolving, there are changes that have made schooling harder, and some changes that have made
schooling easier. For example, instead of using paper and pencil students now have iPads and their
own laptops to do their school work on. Are these more advanced changes for the better, and make
learning more convenient, or are they unfavorable and make schooling complicated and more
problematic? Most examples lead to the conclusion that laptops are more convenient. for the reason,
that they make school work easier and generate easy access to sites for research.
During the beginning of my Highschool career everybody was given an iPad; grade six to grade
twelve. However not everybody is fond of the iPads. Many students, throughout the long school
days, have come up to the library to check out a laptop because they either "lost" their iPad, or they
just don't want to use it. Many students have tried to check out laptops even when they have their
fully functioning iPads, so now whenever you want to check out a laptop you have to leave your
phone for collaboration. In almost every class teachers use the iPads, but not all teachers are fond of
the iPads either. Some teachers continue to use paper and pencil because it's more of a convenience
to them.
Laptops are more convenient for me to use because of the classes I'm currently taking. Such as my

Persuasive Essay On Tipping
Tipping your waiter almost feels like something that has just always been around in your dining
experience inside America. You go with family and friends to your favorite restaurant, your
waiter greets you, you order your meal, enjoy it, pay, and leave a tip. However, tipping is an
Europe custom we borrowed. Weirdly enough, tipping use to be viewed as rude and disrespectful,
much unlike today where it is viewed as disrespectful not to leave a tip. According to Michael
Lynn, a professor at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, "tipping in the United
States began just after the American Civil War in the late 1800's." Lynn suggests that wealthy
Americans traveling abroad to Europe witnessed tipping and brought the aristocratic custom back
with them to "show off," or prove their elevated education and class. When you go dine in at your
favorite restaurant and finish your delicious meal, how much do you tip? 10%? 20%? Nothing at
all? Do you know how much to tip, or even why you should leave a tip? Tipping waiters is not a
bonus; it is part of their salary. When you tip, you are helping waiters to achieveminimum wage.
Consumers must pay for these costs one way or another. Tipping in America should be required.
With minimum wage for a waitress being only $2.13, tips are essentially the waitress's prime form
of payment. Author Patrick M. Sheridan stated in his CNN article "predominantly tipped
occupations are twice as likely as other workers to experience poverty, and servers are almost three
times as likely to live in poverty." Statistics from an article on Mother Jones says the overall
poverty rate stands at 6.3 percent. For restaurant workers, the rate is 16.7 percent. "Tipped workers
and their families often depend on welfare programs to survive – and they do so at significantly
higher rates than non–tipped workers, according to a 2014 report from the Economic Policy
Institute, a think tank focused on labor issues." When you fail to tip your waiters, you are
predominantly part of the cause of poverty. Stuart wrote in his article "Because of inflation, the
value of the tipped minimum wage has steadily fallen over the years." Leaving waiters bringing
home less and less in tips. If everyone quits

Persuasive Essay Tips

  • 1. Writing A Persuasive Essay It's a simple enough idea, write an essay about a topic for credit. I'll admit I've written good essays in the past, I just have one issue with this topic; I am not a persuasive person. I don't have a passion to write about, or an idea in my head. Even if I was passionate about something, I doubt I have the skill to convince you. My arguments would consist of why I like the topic (or hate it) with an extreme bias, and I doubt that you would be moved. I couldn't convince you that the long hours of school take a toll on the students. Even if others agree with me, the way I word things, the lack of passion and my lack of being able to be assertive is the reason why I can't write this essay. First things first, the way I word my thoughts. Regardless...show more content... You'll get this definition: "The writer takes a stand on an issue–either "for" or "against"–and builds the strongest possible argument to win over the reader. In a persuasive essay, it's the writer's job to convince the reader to accept a particular point of view or take a specific action." Along with a bunch of How Tos. I've have taken a stand that is very passive–aggressive, on why I can't write this essay. I know what you're thinking, this is ridiculous. Just think of it like this, as you sit there reading me ramble on and give excuses. You're starting to listen. Yes, you have been in my spot before, lack of passion words don't form right and you're just not clear enough. I see the irony here, this very essay, it contradicts itself. A persuasive essay on why I can't write a persuasive essay. In the end it's genius, I'm not faking an opinion or sing someone's thoughts. You might have considered this option before but it seemed too stupid. You looked up prompt after prompt. Nothing. When you finally settle you know it's not your best work and the grade shows. Or you did it last minute, reworded someone else's essay. You've even considered turning in nothing, I mean what's the point Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 3. Persuasive Communication and Persuasive Communication and Effective Negotiations Introduction In business the most vital skill is communication. In a setting where ideas are the business, it is imperative to be able to communicate those ideas effectively. The most important part of communication is the persuasive message. Communication is defined as a process by which we give and express meaning in an effort to create shared understanding. This process requires a huge range of skills in intrapersonal and interpersonal processing, speaking, listening, questioning, analyzing, observing, and evaluating[1]. Use of these processes is developmental and transfers to all areas of life: home, school, community, work, and beyond. It is through communication that...show more content... Before people buy into a suggestion they want to see that the persuader is flexible enough to respond to their concerns. Compromises can often become better, more sustainable, shared solutions. 3. Thinking the secret of persuasion lies in presenting great arguments. Great arguments matter, but they are only one part. Other factors matter just as much, such as credibility and their ability to create an equally beneficial position for themselves and their audience, (a win win situation), to connect on the correct emotional level and to communicate through words that makes arguments come alive. 4. Assuming persuasion is a one–time effort. Persuasion is a process. Common solutions are rarely reached on the first try. Effective Negotiations Effective negotiations are a method of working a compromise or agreement in which the parties to the negotiations try to achieve their goals in reasonable and practical manner through the process of give and take using effective communication. Negotiation is a central activity of our lives. Knowingly or unknowingly we negotiate every day, with our colleagues, and bosses, family members, friends, strangers, and some times even with our–selves. We use negotiation to realize our expectations, to achieve goals, work out a problem or simply to avoid trouble. Sometimes we negotiate to assist others in resolving their problems. • 4. Persuasive Speech : Effective Communication In writing it's important to have an understanding of what you're trying to convey for your audience in addition to how you you will present your ideas. Effective communication extends beyond having well organized writing expressed in complete and coherent sentences. The style, tone and clarity of writing must also be considered, as they are constantly changing relative to the audience. Again, analyzing one's audience and purpose is essential to successful writing. Appropriately, when choosing the most effective language, it is important to consider the document objective as well as the reader. In essence, this idea of effective use of language has been the overarching theme of this online English course. Each writing assignment...show more content... Thus, the style of language used within the text was often industry specific and possessed a more academic feeling. For example, in the text I often used abbreviations and slang acceptable within the discourse such as, SCM Supply chain management, KPI Key performance indicator, and RDT Resource dependence. The word choice in this assignment is indicative of that fact that language is chosen in a manner that is appropriate for both the audience and the purpose of the writing. Furthermore, perhaps the greatest contrast and the most evident of how language works differently in various types of writing is the discussion blog post. The blog post allowed the class to engage in different types of formality of language. The formality of the language one uses should match the formality of the situation and the relationship between the writer and reader. Therefore, as the public audience was a class of online students taking a required writing course in the summer, the formality of my writing has often been very informal. For example, in my blog post addressing my concern over the unworthy power of BeyoncГ© I wrote, "It was the year 2008 when the world was blessed with the images of BeyoncГ© (unapologetically) dancing around in a leotard. Not only is BeyoncГ©'s single lady video one of her most notable hits it begins her what is now a decade long relationship ending spree" (Marquis, 2016 ). • 5. Persuasive Essay "Your assignment is to write a persuasive essay and present it to the class in a week. You will be graded based on how convincing it is. Today we will be choosing topics," announced Mr. Bowerbank, my 7th grade English teacher and ruler of classroom 110. My class simultaneously groaned at the prospect of work. I simply lifted my head with intrigue as it was already May and about time we had our first essay. He then proceeded to give examples of topics we could choose and gave us some time to think before we had to tell him our topic. My classmates were already rushing to tell the teacher their idea lest someone else steal it. That meant the usual abortion, death penalty, or drug use topics were out. I really couldn't think of anything and the teacher was slowly making his way through the remaining students like an executioner beheading criminals in a line. I have always thought that he would make a marvelous supervillain if he had a curly mustache, a tophat, and a cape. Eventually my name was called. I slowly dragged myself over to his desk. Even sitting down, he still seemed to tower over me. "What is your topic Cindy?" As usual in such desperate times, my mind turned to food. "Waffles are better than pancakes." I figured that awaffle was just a differently shaped pancake with a nicer texture. "Hmm. Excellent topic. I look forward to your essay!" I survived to live yet another day. As I walked to lunch, I went around and asked everyone the age old question: "Do you like Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Persuasive Techniques Essay The Effectiveness of Persuasive Techniques No advertisement is the same, especially since there is so much competition between companies to sell their products. Many advertisements may seem simple at first glance, but most of them contain complex persuasion techniques. Some of these techniques include pathos, ethos, and logos, and they are included in almost every advertisement. Just using one of these techniques might not always be effective, so it's important to try to include all three. A great example of this is the snickers advertisement including Mr. T. At first glance of the ad, the celebrity, Mr. T, telling you to "get some nuts", which is ethos, but that isn't the only persuasive device included in this ad. The use of ethos in an advertisement really catches the reader's attention, it also makes the reader feel like if they used that product they would get the approval from that celebrity. That is exactly...show more content... Snickers uses pathos by making the reader feel scared and intimidated by Mr. T if they do not purchase a snickers. They achieve this by putting a scary figure as the center of attention on the ad, they also have him point at the reader and make an angry face making them feel afraid if they don't buy a Snickers. This combination of ethos and pathos is very effective in persuading the readers of this advertisement to buy the product this company is selling. The only other persuasive device in this advertisement is logos. Logos is used by making the reader feel like it is only logical to eat a snickers because Mr. T is eating one. Also in the advertisement Mr. T has a necklace that says "get some nuts", and if he got a necklace saying to get some Snickers, then they must be good. Without the use of this device, the reader would know that Mr. T endorses this product, but they wouldn't know if he actually liked the product or Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Vacations Most of the people take a vacation because they want to take a break from their routine life. Last summer, my husband I desired to take a break from our exhausted life. We started digging website for the place for a vacation. My kids want to go to Pakistan as usual yet I wanted to discover new county. I was bored of visiting Pakistan repeatedly. Although it always good to meet families and friends, this time I want to discover something new.Since I hate surprises so I made sure I plan vacation ahead of time. Planning and organizing the vacation reduces the chances of my mood swings. So, I started browsing for exotic vacation places and started gathering the information of Australia, Bank Kok, South Africa and New Zealand. The information we had gathered for our vacation destinations were weather forecast, events, and places of attraction. My preference was ocean and my husband wanted to do scuba diving so, after gathering all the information about our interesting destination, it wasn't easy to opt out any one of them. After weeks of argument, we had resolved the issue and decided to visit the place which I had chosen. Australia was a place which I always aim to visit. Staggering seascape and spectacular beauty of Australia are the main attraction for visitors. Since we are USA citizen we don't need to obtain a visa to enter in Australia; however, we do require to obtain Electronic Travel Authority(ETA) which can be obtained online after paying $20.Excursion to Australia was well planned from having an adequate amount of money, getting the car from the airport to booking the hotel online. We departed from Chicago (ORD) to Australia (SYD)and collected the hire car from Sydney Airport and with the help of our GPS, we reached to our hotel. The weather was extremely pleasant as compared to Chicago, we didn't need to wear jacket throughout our whole trip. The next day we visited Opera House which was shaped like a huge shell, we had a lunch there and took a tour of that huge building. Australia has all unique thing animals, historical places, ocean, forests, and deserts. Our next destination was Great Barrier Reef we decided to go by road Great Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Reflection Of A Persuasive Reflection Reflection of a Persuasive Essay by Vickie Hale In my revision, I decided to incorporate actionable feedback from the feedback I received. The feedback I received was that my essay needed more clarification, I choose to use this feedback to help make my argument more developed, I wanted to create a better thought out essay and I worked on the clarification of my argument as well as renewed my research. With that, I did some critical thinking to help work through the weak areas of my essay which was the structure and syntax. Therefore, I incorporated these suggestions because they helped me to improve my essay and help me to create a more persuasive essay. Without these changes alongside the small revisions, I made, I do not believe my essay would have been as well–written so they were much needed. My biggest challenges came from not being able to pin down my argument, it took me a while to come find a side to an argument that wasn't vague. Because, I usually write in a creative way, which does not necessarily have to be persuasive, I usually write fictional stories and people getting the understanding from the experiences of the characters is the outcome, but with persuasive writing, you are trying to get your readers to not only agree with your side of the argument but to see what and why you are arguing your side in the first place. This became difficult for me because I kept feeling like my argument was not central and a little vague. I worked on trying to help my readers understand what and why I was arguing my side of the argument. I had to think about who was reading my essay and this helped. What I could have done differently is choose a more central argument, I believe it would have reduced my challenges. This question is hard for me to answer because I did not receive but one peer feedback, the feedback I incorporated concerning my exploration of the issue was more clarification because that was one of the problems my peer review pointed out. I worked on my clarification because it is one of the main elements, that is needed when you are writing a persuasive essay or any essay for that matter. Clarification gives the essay structure so your readers can have a full understanding of your Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 10. Persuasive Essay On Choices In Life I believe that everyone in this life has choices. The choices we make define who we are as people and what we stand for. Choosing one path over another may be the best or worst decision you could ever make. However, once you have chosen, stick to your decision because you made that choice for a reason. Even if it is to have lunch at a certain restaurant over another, or a bigger decision like choosing your major. Something in your life helped you make that decision, and the worst thing you can do is live your life with the regret of a choice. If your decision ends up badly, simply make another choice. Choose a new path. In the words of my oh so wise History teacher, "Never second guess yourself because that's worse than making the wrong choice in the end." One of the best examples that comes to mind is a story I heard a few weeks ago, based on a real event. In 1979, a man named Lee Strobel and his family went to a restaurant one evening and he gave his 7 year old daughter a nickel to get a gumball from the machine and a few moments later, she came back to the table choking on the gum. They didn't know what to do and if they waited for an ambulance they feared it would be too late. All of a sudden, a woman came up and said that she is a nurse and can help. The woman, after getting the gumball out of the little girl, told her parents that her and her husband were headed to another restaurant when all of a sudden she made a last minute choice to go here. Because of her choice, a little girl's life was saved. Hearing stories such as this one, reminds me of all of the choices I have made, and how they have affected me. When I was 6, my family up and moved to a new school called Knox County. I loved it there for I had so many friends and nothing bad ever happened. Then at the end of 5th grade, my dad got a new job so we moved schools again. This time I was 11 and starting middle school at a small school called Pilot Grove, and I've been here ever since. There are times I catch myself wondering what would've happened if we had stayed in Knox or the first town I ever lived in, Philadelphia (no not the one in Pennsylvania). Sometimes I even believe that things would be a lot better if we had stayed there. There are Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Persuasive Essay On Success Goals, something every human being on this planet has and to reach those goals you must be successful. We set goals to fulfill our purpose in life, but to do that, you must be successful in meeting and completing those goals. "How Bad Do You Want It?" is a motivational speech that highlights the requirements of being successful. This speech is important to study because success is so vital and important for our survival as human beings, it changes the world. No matter your race, religion, culture, etc., you want to be successful and that will have a different definition for everyone, because only you can define what success means to you. "How Bad Do You Want It" encourages its audience to think differently about wanting to be successful and how to make it happen. This speech holds all the components Aristotle says a speech needs to be effective which include, persuasive, decorative, and informational, also meaning motivational, actionable, and fun (Morgan, 2016). While watching the football player perform each exercise repeatedly, I witnessed the effort and dedication he exerted through each set – this commitment resonated with me, as I am also an athlete who is expected to elicit these qualities. Not only hay, the video serves as confirmation that success is only attainable for those who want it bad enough and are willing to work for it. Even the background music playing provoked an internal motivation to be proactive. By delivering Eric Thomas's speech in his unique hip Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Tipping The United States is one of the few counties in the world still using the old fashion tipping system. "During the late 19th century legislature rapidly abolishes the practice of tipping when it is introduced by wealthy Americans. Eventually restauranteurs find a way to prospect of passing labor costs to consumer, which convinced the American to accept the practice of tipping." When many American don't understand the purpose of tipping is for but somehow it is customer responsibility to pay the restaurant employees based on their service. There are many reasons to argue about the tipping system. But, most of them ignore the very basic problem with abolishing tipping in America, the most difficult of which is our absurdly low minimum wage. The practice is abhorrent from a historical perspective. Recently, New York City's Sushi Yasuda owner Scott Rosenberg announced that he decided to eliminate tipping altogether. Following the custom in Japan, he decided to pay his employees higher wages and redistribute the cost to the customers by raising the prices on the menu. Is this a good idea? Rosenberg, who abolished tipping at his restaurant, made a very powerful statement against the Outdated of tipping practice. He penned what many others believe is one of the most succinct and yet irrefutable way. The staff no longer worry about making a lot of tip on weekend and penny on weekday. During the last several years we have come to be more and more dependent on the Internet and in particular moving huge chunks of data across large distances. The Internet allows people to communicate with each other across the world within mere fractions of seconds with the help of E–mail and Messenger. The Internet also allows for expressing opinions and obtaining up–to–date information from the world–wide–web. The new software is being developed every day which uses the Internet as the carrier for long distance voice calls and video conferencing like FaceTime and Skype, which would hold the key to the future of our society. Whether someone is sending e–mail, posting on message boards, or reading the news online, people are guaranteed the same freedom of self–expression that we enjoy offline. • 16. Persuasive Essay On Field Trips Spending money always seems like it is a burden, unless you're splurging on yourself buying that handbag that you have always wanted, or the belt that cost $500. When we spend it on field trips for kids to be able to get a hands on experience rather than just sit in a boring classroom, well that's a completely different story. If that's the case, then we should feel great about spending the money on our kids, it's going towards a excellent cause, one that has the potential to change a child's perspective on learning. Many kids feel that the classroom is extremely boring, too bland for their taste. As a result, their motivation starts to drop as well as their grades, interest, and even will to attend school. The free admission idea is a breakthrough due to the possibility that the child's parents lack the resources to take him/her to a museum, but the school and the museum can give the child this experience through education. I reminisce back to 5th grade, the start of the end of elementary. The feeling of desperation hit me, I felt aggravated and perplexed because school was just plain boring. My eyes and ears had opened up, and I felt like I had a tiny enlightenment when I had heard that we were attending a field trip to Seaworld, in order to learn about marine biology. Consequently, I ended up paying attention from their, I found school a bit more exhilarating and I started to try harder than what I was before. What field trips did for me can happen to any other kid out there.Furthermore, college trips can also help a high school teenager get a feel for the college life, and help them understand that education is important in today's age. Without this type of insight, teens might feel lost or unsure about what they want to do in life so they end up dropping out or just barely finishing high school. Therefore, this budget really needs to expand for the better of our kids. Even if we spend 100 million dollars on field trips, or just enough for a couple per year, the money used is going to a positive cause. Our Get more content on HelpWriting.net

However, I change my mind when I was doing the assignment, "Persuasive Essay". This essay is my first English essay, and it was a quite challenging task for me. In this assignment , I learned a lot. For example, to use the transition words to connect each paragraph. Also, to use other writer's words to make my idea be more powerful. Thus, this assignment improves my writing skills a lot. However, everything is different when I was doing this assignment, Persuasive Essay. I noticed that every paragraph should support theme to make an essay stronger. • 18. Persuasive Essay Schools have been using the same learning techniques for a long time. Since technology has been evolving, there are changes that have made schooling harder, and some changes that have made schooling easier. For example, instead of using paper and pencil students now have iPads and their own laptops to do their school work on. Are these more advanced changes for the better, and make learning more convenient, or are they unfavorable and make schooling complicated and more problematic? Most examples lead to the conclusion that laptops are more convenient. for the reason, that they make school work easier and generate easy access to sites for research. During the beginning of my Highschool career everybody was given an iPad; grade six to grade twelve. However not everybody is fond of the iPads. Many students, throughout the long school days, have come up to the library to check out a laptop because they either "lost" their iPad, or they just don't want to use it. Many students have tried to check out laptops even when they have their fully functioning iPads, so now whenever you want to check out a laptop you have to leave your phone for collaboration. In almost every class teachers use the iPads, but not all teachers are fond of the iPads either. Some teachers continue to use paper and pencil because it's more of a convenience to them. Laptops are more convenient for me to use because of the classes I'm currently taking. Such as my CIS comp, CIS world history, and my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. Persuasive Essay On Tipping Tipping your waiter almost feels like something that has just always been around in your dining experience inside America. You go with family and friends to your favorite restaurant, your waiter greets you, you order your meal, enjoy it, pay, and leave a tip. However, tipping is an Europe custom we borrowed. Weirdly enough, tipping use to be viewed as rude and disrespectful, much unlike today where it is viewed as disrespectful not to leave a tip. According to Michael Lynn, a professor at the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration, "tipping in the United States began just after the American Civil War in the late 1800's." Lynn suggests that wealthy Americans traveling abroad to Europe witnessed tipping and brought the aristocratic custom back with them to "show off," or prove their elevated education and class. When you go dine in at your favorite restaurant and finish your delicious meal, how much do you tip? 10%? 20%? Nothing at all? Do you know how much to tip, or even why you should leave a tip? Tipping waiters is not a bonus; it is part of their salary. When you tip, you are helping waiters to achieveminimum wage. Consumers must pay for these costs one way or another. Tipping in America should be required. With minimum wage for a waitress being only $2.13, tips are essentially the waitress's prime form of payment. Author Patrick M. Sheridan stated in his CNN article "predominantly tipped occupations are twice as likely as other workers to experience poverty, and servers are almost three times as likely to live in poverty." Statistics from an article on Mother Jones says the overall poverty rate stands at 6.3 percent. For restaurant workers, the rate is 16.7 percent. "Tipped workers and their families often depend on welfare programs to survive – and they do so at significantly higher rates than non–tipped workers, according to a 2014 report from the Economic Policy Institute, a think tank focused on labor issues." When you fail to tip your waiters, you are predominantly part of the cause of poverty. Stuart wrote in his article "Because of inflation, the value of the tipped minimum wage has steadily fallen over the years." Leaving waiters bringing home less and less in tips.
