Part I
That day in the museum, I met her for the first time in so many years and she was wearing a
rose pink dress while I kept staring at her with so much yearning in my heart. Today when I
think about that encounter, I feel disheartened in friendship and love. That day, she was
coming down the high, almost square stairs and I was scared for her as her heels clicked on
the concrete. My heart clenched tight with the mere thought of her toppling over those
stairs hence, I started creeping closer by dragging my feet on the ground. I had brought
bright yellow cheerful sunflowers for her but didn’t know when to give so I had them
hidden behind my back. I clutched them so hard that they probably wilted a little due to my
touch however, the moment she came down her face was lit up with a huge grin. I forgot all
about the flowers and was about to greet her when she told me that she had a surprise for
me. My mouth felt heavy, like a bag of stones but I still plucked up some courage and asked
her about her surprise. She smoothly like a snake entwined her hands into my arms and
started walking towards the exit, stating that she was hungry and could smell sweet scent of
fresh beans and cocoa. I felt we needed to sit somewhere and catch up because the loud
noise of traffic impacted our conversation as well as our feelings.
We finally found a small and oval structured table of a coffee shop and we sat while that
very instant I remembered the flowers and I held them in-front of her face. She made a face
that clearly reflected the flowers smell like rotten eggs and she did not like them at all. Her
whole demeanour changed and she abruptly left without saying goodbye. I will never forget
that day and I still feel a longing to change the flowers and see her face one more time.
