This document discusses advanced physical assessment skills related to mental, reproductive, and urinary health. It states that advanced assessment is important for nursing competency and patient safety. The author feels confident in their mental health assessment abilities but wants to improve their knowledge of focused urinary assessment through learning specific history questions and examination techniques. They also want to enhance their patient education skills, especially around the urinary system, by improving communication and tailoring education to individual patient needs and health literacy levels.

Health AssessmentAdvanced physical assessment is an integral component of nursing today
as it encompasses competency levels that student nurses gain from academic institutions
and integrate them into clinical practice. Precise and apt nursing diagnosis is the foundation
of patient safety in clinical organizations (Zambas et al., 2016). Assessment skills including
palpation, auscultation, and percussion allow nursing students to prepare for multifaceted
presentations in diverse clinical scenarios. This week, we focused on psychological health,
urinary, and reproductive systems of adults in advanced physical assessment. Discussion 6 -
Health AssessmentORDER A PLAGIARISM-FREE PAPER HEREI place my utmost level of
confidence in mental health evaluation skills. As a health practitioner, I am well equipped
with adequate mental health skills and knowledge to practice at an advanced level in
various mental health settings. With this knowledge, I will critically apply psychological
health assessment skills to provide evidence-based care to patients, make informed clinical
decisions with necessary differential diagnosis, and address complex legal, ethical, and
professional issues surrounding mental health. However, I feel that more development is
needed on focused urinary assessment. Comprehensive knowledge of the human kidney
and urinary tract is incredibly crucial to maintain homeostasis. Therefore, I will need to
enrich my knowledge on specific history questions and examination techniques for adult
patients requiring advanced urinary assessment. Through this, I will learn how alterations
in the renal and urinary assessment results could indicate potential health problems.
Discussion 6 - Health AssessmentOf the areas of advanced physical assessment covered this
week, I struggle most when providing patient-centered education on the urinary system.
Low health literacy is an element I frequently encounter during patient education. Research
suggests that health literacy significantly impacts patient education (Brabers et al.,
2017). Emotions, age, and reading ability of patients to gauge the efficiency of health
education. I plan on improving my patient education skills by enhancing communication
skills and tailoring education to individualized patient needs.ReferencesBrabers, A.,
