Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting The music in this cut scene suggests a dark and magical setting due to the music
containing church like sounds and the tone of piano that is playing.
The beginning of the music sounds like it was
produced using software but the rest of the music
contains violin and piano segments performed
with real instruments along with more software
created sounds.
Mood The mood that this music creates is dark and it gives a feeling of isolation with no
escape. The music progressively sounds darker and creepier having an eerie feel to
it. The piano adds to the magical feel whereas the violin adds to the darker feel.
The beginning software music gives the magical
feel whereas the violin and piano bring the
darkness into the music.
Game genre The music suggests that the game genre is fantasy because of the magical quality to
it.
The beginning software instruments give the
fantasy feel to the cut scene mainly.
Narrative The music shows the narrative could be something dark happening to the character.
It sounds like the music is the build up to an upcoming boss fight.
The orchestrated music is what shows the
darkness of the cutscene and builds up the
suspense, the piano especially brings creepiness
to the music.
