The And The World Of The Night The Floor
Imagine lying in bed sleeping, when in the middle of the night the floor gives way and the earth
sucks you up into it. This is what happened to a Florida man in
2013. His friend came by to check on him because he had not heard from him for a while, only to
find the large hole in the bedroom and Mr. Bush was no where to be found.
He has not been found to this day. A sinkhole swallowed him up alive and was never to be heard
from again. Sinkholes are formed from the limestone that is in our ground throughout the U.S.A and
the world. There are natural cracks in these bedrocks where the water flows through to the
underground into caverns or pockets, and when these pockets dry up due to sewers, drainage pipes
and city piping (which makes the natural way of water to be absorbed into the ground, disturbed), it
makes the ground soft because there is no more water there to fill the cavern and thus it caves in
forming a sinkhole. Florida is nicknamed "sinkhole alley" because between Orlando to Tampa and
Miami to Jacksonville, there are over 2500 sinkholes ready to pop up at any given time. There is
many underwater springs, in Florida it is called the "Devils Den" which was formed more than ten
thousand years ago.
In Kentucky, The National Corvette Museum swallowed 8 corvettes last year, it was 40 feet in diam.
and 90 feet down to a cave below. In Quatemala City
Quatemala in 2010, swallowed up a building it was 55 feet across and 100 feet deep.

Descriptive Essay On Crystal Cave
Crystal Cave Crystal Cave is full of life. My favorite vacation was the time my family and I went to
Pennsylvania's Crystal Cave. Crystal Cave is one of Pennsylvania's most famous tourist attractions,
which was discovered in 1881. Crystal Cave was once completely submerged underwater and was
formed by an earthquake. It was July 2017, that my family and I were staying in a hotel room in
Pennsylvania. We had many things planned for this trip, so we always had something to do. One of
the places I saw we were going to was a cave called Crystal Cave. I had no knowledge of this cave,
so I didn't know what to expect. But I had remembered the last cave I went to here, Penns Cave. I
loved that place, I was fascinated there. So I told my family that I wanted to go to Crystal Cave, so
we packed some things and went.
When we first arrived there, the showed us a 4–5 minute video about Crystal Cave. I learned that the
cave was founded in 1881 by two brothers, William and George Vanasse. I also learned that they had
both carved their names in the walls of the cave and you can still see them right now. But Crystal
Cave wasn't just a normal cave that you explore in, back then, people used it for weddings, parties,
etc. The room where they held these events is still fully functional, so you can still go in there, but I
don't think you can have a party in there anymore. When we finally got into the cave, our tour guide
told us that there are colonies of brown bats living in the cave, but they have their own part of the
cave, so you can't bother them. It was cold in the cave, so everyone wore a sweatshirt. We also saw
many different rock formations such as animals, ice cream, and even one that looks like Donald
Duck! There were many glistening and shining crystals that William and George had thought were
diamonds, but they were just a very common crystal. They had a cave formation that you could
touch. The tour guide called them rotten eggs because they looked like eggs that had been dropped
and never cleaned up. When I touched them, they were smooth and moist, yet somehow warm and
lumpy. They had a rare rock formation, a column! A column is created when a stalactite and a
stalagmite combine together form one long pillar. These

The Cause Of Sinkholes In The Southern States
Our topic is sinkholes. Sinkholes are holes that are formed in the ground from the underlay of rocks
collapsing. The majority of sinkholes in the U.S. occur in Florida because the state is on top of
carbonate rocks which are weak Sinkholes are pits in the ground that form where water gathers with
no drainage. The water weakens the ground under the surface and any weight on the affected area
will collapse the ground. Sinkholes are mostly likely to happen in southern states of the United
States because of the soft limestone under the southern states. The states don't have good drainage
under them therefore the land under is weak. Some sinkholes don't cause any damage but a lot of
them can swallow up people, buildings, and houses. In Florida,

Plato's Cave Philosophy
I have always been stubbornly convinced that Plato is one of the best Western philosophers of the
pen (in my understanding can be compared with the Chinese Confucius). For me, this philosopher's
most powerful claim is not the "ideal country" that is widely regarded today as a fictional world, but
is also fictitious. To me, I like his cave metaphor, the metaphor says is: a person (more often a group
of people) in the cave was chained, tied to the Face to see their own image, and then that is true, and
for whom the encouragement or sadness, for a fortuitous reason, was or initiative to dismantle the
chain, such an inexplicable access to unfamiliar freedom of people. Suddenly, this person see the
glare of the sun, he gradually liked the light, and thus consider the ... Show more content on

Finally, he went back to his cave, telling those who were still bound by the people. The person
called light and try to bring the idea of light, the feelings of those who have been familiar with the
shadow, he tells the secret of the light to those people who in the cave, which made the tragedy
began, the person got killed, who ever thought about the outcome? But this ideal experiment or story
is very interesting. The experience of my generation has shown all the secrets, but I have been too
lazy to recall, as well as related to the narrative.
My question is how do we know that we are not living in caves? How do we protect those who see
the sun, and try to restrain their anger and not to kill him? In fact, how many people are willing to
admit that they live in the cave? Unfortunately, we have been living in the cave, not

Creative Story : A Short Story
Trappe woke with a start before sunrise, focusing his eyes on the shapes of the distant hills as they
emerged from the darkness. He felt a chill from the open rear window of the station wagon and
turned to Curtis, still asleep beside him. "Curtis, wake up," he whispered, followed by a "shushing"
sound as he put his index finger to his lips. Curtis' eyes fluttered open. "It's time. Follow me,"
Trappe said in a low voice as he finished lacing up his boots and grabbed his jean jacket. He figured
the jacket would be a burden to carry in the heat of the day but was a necessity now. He climbed
over the tailgate motioning Curtis to follow. They crept past their father and T. W. who were bundled
in their sleeping bags next to the remaining embers from last night's fire. They picked their
backpacks with snacks, water, a flashlight, and rope, then stepped lightly away. "Where are we
going? I'm hungry." Curtis said, a little too loudly as he stepped behind Trappe. "Quiet, dummy,
we're gonna find some gold." "We'll eat something just over that ridge." Curtis stopped and looked
back at the two lumps by the smoldering ashes. "I don't think we should go without Mr. T. W. or dad
knowing where we are." Trapped turned on Curtis, his eyes boring into him. "Quiet," he hissed. "T.
W. doesn't own this land and besides I think the gold is in those caves over the hill" Trappe
shouldered the backpack, and started walking again. Curtis watched Trappe start off without him,

Tangerine Sinkhole Quotes
In Tangerine, a sinkhole occurs from pages 81 to 83. Although the actual event of the sinkhole itself
is very short, the effects of it last throughout the rest of the book. The sinkhole itself affects many
characters in the book, including Erik. Because of the sinkhole, the Lake Windsor bleachers by their
football field are left "unsafe." "The condemned area includes all of the portables of course. But to
the south, it also includes a corner of the soccer field and all of the baseball diamond. To the north, it
includes nearly all of the high school football bleachers that back up onto the middle school," (Bloor
87). This quote is significant because it shows which areas of the campus are marked as unsafe,
which means that Erik won't be able to have a huge audience at his games, thanks to the unsafe
bleachers. On page 87, Bloor writes, "The football stadium has just lost half of its seating capacity.
And Erik Fisher, the soon–to–be–famous place kicker, has just lost half of his ... Show more content

graders for the remainder of this term...' " (Bloor 93). Because of this, Paul begs to go to Tangerine
Middle School, because he sees it as an opportunity to play soccer with no IEP. Because of this, the
plotline is affected. If the sinkhole never happened, Paul wouldn't have met all his Tangerine friends.
"Luis Cruz is dead," (Bloor 244). Luis, Teresa's brother, would still be alive because he wouldn't
have had a reason to confront Erik if he never met Paul. Paul wouldn't be able to play soccer either
because his mom never would've been able to throw it away. Because of the sinkhole, "The heavens

Jessica Coughed And Spluttered On The Darkness
JESSICA COUGHED AND SPLUTTERED IN THE DARKNESS. The thick dust clogged her
nostrils and she tried not to breathe too deeply. Holt had grabbed her arm and pulled her to safety,
just as a large section of the cave roof had collapsed above her.
'Lucky I spotted this passageway, eh, child, or we would be resting underneath that,' he said
solemnly.
'Thank you,' Jessica replied, rubbing her eyes trying to clear the dust out of them. 'But what
happened to the rest? Where are my brother and sister?'
Holt tried not to look worried, 'Do not fret child, I am sure that they are safe on the other side of
this,' he said, pointing to the large pile of rocks that had blocked the main passageway. 'All we need
to do is find a way around it.'

Light flooded the cave. Through the settling dust, they could see the narrow passageway leading off
into the darkness. It had been roughly hewn out of the rock.
The Gnome pointed along the tunnel. 'Well, I guess we go this way. Switch off your...' he motioned
towards her torch. 'Save it for when this runs out.'
'It's a torch,' she said flicking it off.
'I know that,' he called back, marching off down the passage.
They continued on, grateful that they were both of small stature. Anyone a little bigger than them
would have struggled to squeeze through the tight confines of the passageway. The little tunnel
twisted and turned ahead of them, its floor gently sloping away into the darkness. Then the lantern
flickered and died.
Jessica switched on her torch. 'I don't know how long this will last,' she told the Gnome.
'Worry not child, I will soon have us out of here, ' he bragged.
They walked on, the air gradually getting warmer as they descended.
She drank the last of her water and hoped they would soon be reunited with the others. She prayed
Holt was right, and that Danielle and George had not been hurt, or worse, back there in the
explosions.

Introduction: What are sinkholes?
Sinkholes are depressions or cavities in the ground caused by some form of collapse of the surface
layer. Most are caused by karst processes – formed from the dissolution of soluble rocks such as
limestone and gypsum. Sinkholes vary greatly in size from 1 to 600 metres, both in diameter and
depth. They also vary in form from soil–lined bowls to bedrock–edged chasms. Sinkholes may form
gradually or suddenly, and can occur worldwide.
Formation of sinkholes
Natural Processes
The formation of sinkholes can involve natural processes including suffusion or the gradual removal
of the soluble carbonate bedrock (e.g. limestone and gypsum) through the circulation of
groundwater. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sea retreated and deep, vertical joints formed in the rock. Rainwater and spray percolated down
the joints, dissolving the rock and widening the cracks. The sea advanced again at the end of the last
Ice Age, reaching its present level about 6000 years ago. Since then waves have been attacking and
undermining the rock, producing the cliffs that are present today. Harder rock remains as the
headland. Waves continue to erode the softer underlying rock, causing caves and arches. This is how

The Tragedy Of Florida Native Jeff Bush
INTRODUCTION Rarely do the geologic processes of the earth make major news headlines, but
oftentimes when they do, it is because a catastrophic event has occurred and has seized public
attention. This was unfortunately the case in 2013, when Florida native Jeff Bush became the victim
of a tragic geologic event that left many Americans wondering if they were truly ever standing on
"solid ground" (Sinkhole Swallows Florida Man). Bush, and a large portion of his suburban home,
was swallowed up by a sudden sinkhole as his brother looked on in horror, trying in vain to rescue
him as he was forced deeper underground. This sinkhole developed as a result of the dissolution of
limestone, which is prevalent under much of Florida's soil, and the ... Show more content on

The purpose of this paper is to define karst topography as it appears in the United States, to illustrate
how natural chemical processes facilitate sinkhole development, and to present a brief overview of
how modern geotechnical and hydrogeological specialists are attempting to solve the sinkhole
problem through innovative engineering design and land study. Ultimately, the goal from an
engineering perspective is to understand karst and sinkholes on a fundamental level so that a variety
of case–by–case solutions may be made available to keep the public safe. This is certainly one
geological problem where the stakes are high, and humankind is competing against the very ground
it stands upon. The question is: Will filling holes in engineering knowledge translate to preventing
sinkholes from causing any more damage than they already have?
KARST The karst terrain which creates the geomorphic conditions for sinkholes is a broad topic in
the field of geology, and encompasses the study of groundwater, drainage, chemical processes, and
many other considerations. Essentially, karst regions are located where the rock below the earth can
be dissolved by the acidic groundwater which percolates through it (The Science of Sinkholes).
These areas are underlain by soluble rocks such as gypsum, limestone, and dolomite which typically
react with carbonic acid (H2CO3) from groundwater to dissolve the rock. Presence of limestone is

Physical Geography: Bleakholes In America
Physical Geography
This section will analyze sinkholes from a broad perspective and then hone in on Florida sinkholes.
The term "doline" is the preferred scientific and international term, which is synonymous with
"sinkhole," but because it is widely known and used in America, the term "sinkhole" will be retained
during this study. In this paper, the term "sinkhole" refers to a depression caused by the solution of
limestone.
In brief, sinkholes form when the land surface above collapses into subsurface voids. According to
Younger (2007), "Natural subsidence is a widespread consequence of the collapse of subsurface
voids, which in turn owe their existence to the erosive action of groundwaters" (p.178). While all
sinkholes share the same characteristic of a surface depression, the origin of this depression can be

According to the literature, there has been much debate over the definition of a sinkhole, which has
resulted in issues related to what insurance companies cover. Insurance rules currently provide some
coverage, but there is confusion over what is actually covered because of the difficulty defining the
term "sinkhole" (Brinkmann, 2013, p.193). There are many factors to consider when defining the
term "sinkhole" for policy purposes: origin of the geologic depression, size, and the rate at which it
occurred. For example, geologic depressions can occur as the result of decaying organic matter
underground; technically, this would not result in a sinkhole. Sinkholes vary in size and shape, and
there is currently no definition that clearly states official size limits of a sinkhole; this same concept
applies to the rate at which a sinkhole occurs. It is worth noting, we have previously defined the
term "sinkhole" for this study – a depression caused by the solution of limestone – and this
definition will be

trees that bare a multitude of differently coloured leaves and vegetation as far as the eye can see.
Even though the forest is expansive, the vegetation manages to remain fairly well kept, giving off a
peaceful and calm vibe. Scattered throughout the forest are large caves (some containing treasure!)
and other small animal communities. But, this story is not about the other communities, it is about
Enchantia and its residents. In particular, the small green dragon who goes by the name of Grassy,

unknown territory, that could potentially pose a threat to the two friends. But nonetheless they
decided that they would take the day to prepare and leave by morning of the next day.
Come morning, the duo of friends were both very eager to embark on this adventure. Since there
were no maps of this secluded area, they decided that to start this adventure they would pick a
direction and just walk until they found something interesting. After a few hours of talking, walking,
and occasional snacking, the two creatures stumbled upon the entrance of a large and somewhat
dark looking cave.
"I 'm not too sure I want to go in there Grassy, it looks pretty dangerous. What if we get hurt?"

Grassy, being the more courageous one of the duo, managed to convince Fluffy by reminding her,
"We wanted an adventure right? Well, a dark and unexplored cave is the best place to start!"
"You know what Grassy, you're right. This cave looks rife with adventure!" And so, they entered the
cave, leaving all worry and hesitation behind them at the entrance.

The Iceman's Axe Essay
Murdered. He was murdered. Who? The 5,300 year old human time capsule, whose name is Ötzi.
Theories about the death of Otzi are as varied as the ages through which he's slept . Assassination by
an envious, bloodthirsty clan mate seems most plausible. This scenario is likely because of Otzi's
copper axe , the arrowhead which took his life, and a large cave drawing with a shocking story to
tell. Ötzi, like all of us, far from invincible, deserves justice.
The Iceman's axe is the first piece of important evidence to consider in this ancient cold case. Made

We walk out of the airport and stop, frozen in sheer amazement at the picturesque view of Bermuda.
This sheer amazement occurs when one is so astonished at what his eyes lay upon that his body
forgets all functions, as if each muscle and organ is in envy of what the eyes are rewarded with.
(Definition) As if on cue, the aroma of peppers comes upon us as we look upon the clear, turquoise
water waving back and forth in front of us between the immaculate palm trees swaying in the light
breeze. We follow our taxi driver to his car and enter, only to hear music that would never be played

of everyone who lives in Bermuda, and soon us as well. This drive to the resort is one of the most
exquisite 15 minute journeys I will ever undergo, and I already know that this trip will be an

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Limestone Caves
and minimized?
A Cave:
Caves, also known as karsts, are very unique and are a special part of our natural environment.
Caves form over a long period of time, 1000 of years (National Geographic, 2015). Caves are made
up of rock, ranging from volcanic to limestone. Limestone caves are more pleasing to the eye as
they usually contain more decoration such as stalactites, Shawls and Straws. As limestone caves are
more decorated they are more prone to damage and deformation (Science Kids, 2016).
Damaged caused by humans in caves:
Humans are causing great damage to limestone caves, some of which the caves themself cannot
recover from. Physical damage by humans has the greatest impact on caves (Bob Robins, 2005)
There are many ways humans have and continue to still damage caves, Majority of people assume
that the main damage to caves is through touching formations (Caving ,Survey 2017) However there
are many other factors that damage the cave just as badly such as graffiti, modernising caves and
rainfall. Tourist caves undergo the most damage (G.Enriquez, B, 2001)with lost formations, climate
changes, and urbanising the caves. Limestone caves are more susceptible to damage from a change
in climate than volcanic caves due to the rock type. When tourists enter caves they can create
thermal annomalies, the anomalies effect the overall temperature in the cave and this in turn effects
the production of formations. (FECYT, 2011). A research investigation undertaken by the University

from the ground surface or fromthe sea, often found in limestone areas and on rocky coastlines. The
way caves develop and form is called speleogenesis. Caves form when weathering of rocks, erosion,
pressure, and chemical transactions takes place. Caves can take over thousands of years to form and
age back to centuries ago. Most caves are usually found in limestone. Because of this, a lot of caves
first start to form because it will rain and the water will seep into the surface, becoming slightly
acidic as its progressing down. The acid is able to break down limestone and this continues for
hundreds of years. The water makes the cracks in the surface much larger, exposing them to the air.
The water starts to create formations in this new cave with the help of some other chemical
reactions, thus constructing a cave.
Caves have been used for lots of human occupations, some starting a very long time ago. Caves
were used for art. Lots of paintings can be found in them. Cueva de las Manos is a cave in Argentina
that is known for the art of handprints on the insides of the cave. Also, Cueva de la Manos is
translated to "Cave of Hands" in English. Within the Paleolithic period of the Stone Age, people
began to create stone tools and weapons, and caves were a place for this to happen.
Additionally, caves were used for shelter and protection, and since

largest glacier in Romania. Another interesting underground feature is the Movile cave located near
the Black sea and Bulgarian border in the southeast. Sealed off from most of the outside world this
poisonous cave is home to many strange creatures, scorpions, spiders, snails, shrimp, and more, all
living in darkness and low levels of oxygen. The Movile cave was discovered by a group
researching the land for a power plant and has had less than one hundred humans in contact with it.

Water-Personal Narrative
Just then, a shrill wind blew past us, raising the hairs on my arms. I tightened my grip on the
flashlight. My heart began to hammer in my chest. Something felt different now. We were walking
out further than last time. The flames should've come by now. I was starting to feel the familiar
sinking feeling. What if we were walking into a trap? And it was my fault having forced Gemma. In
the distance, I suddenly caught a glimpse of a faint blue light.
"There, do you see that?" I said, pointing. "See what?" Gemma said, getting a good look over my
shoulder.
"The blue light, that's a good sign, right?"
"I suppose," she said timidly.
We moved faster. I just hoped whatever we were speeding towards would not come as an unpleasant

Its crystal clarity was no longer apparent as its once shallowness had become a plunging depth, a
darkish blue in color, almost black. I studied our distance away from the bank. We were a little ways
farther than I expected. We were moving fast.
The ride was surprisingly smooth, pleasant, though the atmosphere was becoming increasingly dark.
I looked up at the ceiling and saw giant, treacherous–looking stalactites hanging overhead. It
resembled a chandelier of spear heads ready to savagely drop at a moment's notice. My eyes
flickered down at Gemma, who seemed completely unbothered by this. Instead, she sat neatly,
gazing at the walls of the cave with an appearance of quiet intrigue.
The boat sped up, and swiftly it drifted toward a dark, narrow tunnel. A nervous twitch ran through
my body. I felt more comfortable being out in the wide open expanse, but in the tunnel, I couldn't
anticipate what would lie ahead. I gripped the flashlight and shined it out in front of us as we
immersed in the darkness. My breathing turned heavy. It was just as dark as the tunnel we had come
through, only now I felt more vulnerable, having no control over the water's current.
"Jared, do you hear that?" Gemma said, her face indistinguishable in the blackness.
"Hear what?" I Jared, looking around.

Kaheschi Caverns-Personal Narrative
I have decided to write an account of my experience. I can no longer trust other humans and have
not talked to one in months; and even if I did, not a person would believe what I have to say. But I
still feel the need to have a written record of this demonic event, in the hope that someone reading it
will take heed. I cannot put this off any longer, and can only hope that the recollection will leave
what remains of my sanity intact.
I drove north to the Adirondack Mountains last summer, packed with the necessary supplies for a
several
day camping trip. Having driven for much of the day, I was quite exhausted; and when night
found me still some distance from the campsite, I knew that I needed to find a place to sleep. My
eye was caught by a large sign on the side of the road

After the guides had made sure that Terence and I had both eaten breakfast and were well
equipped
for caving, we set off for Kaheschi Caverns.
The Caverns were but a short walk away, reached via a path that lead out into the forest from behind
the motel. The cave entrance was a wide, low crevice at the base of a steep hill, interposed between
the ground and a colossal wedge of rock. It looked to me uncannily like a cavernous mouth,
devouring any light that entered its gaping jaws; and as such, I was reluctant to walk into it. When I
hesitated at the threshold of the cave, however,
Terence called teasingly back to me, suggesting that if I was too afraid to come, I could return to my
motel room and reflect on how much of a coward I was. Embarrassed, I jogged through the cave
entrance to catch up with the rest of the group.
A rough, chiseled path led me down into the aperture, but I saw no kind of lighting to illuminate the
dark recesses of the cave. This was soon made clear when James–the apparent leader of the guides,
and the most vocal–paused and, taking off his

A Study On Radiation Victim
Radiation Victim
He had never traveled this far from the shelter before, five kilometers was his previous record and
he had far surpassed that by now. Feeling a slight itch he tugged at the neck of his environmental
suit. It ballooned out from his body about half a foot making it awkward to progress along the route.
This far from the shelter, to James, the land appeared as flat as the polished metal flooring of his
home. He had already begun to feel dread at the sheer distance between himself and the safety of his
underground sanctuary. He looked down to the Heads–Up–Display of his helmet, observing the
distance that he has already traveled. 17km the display read, a quarter of the way there.
It was only James' 3rd expedition out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the darkness of the room, the temperature was several dozen degrees lower than outside. Once he
was deeper in the building he might even be able to take off his suit. The room was giant, almost as
big as the entire bunker he called home. James had studied the plans of the building in his briefing
so he was able to determine that he was in a room known as 'Campus Library.' From the information
gathered by previous expeditions the, 'Nuclear Lab' would be in the basement of the adjacent
building.
The Library was the tallest building in the area, and the only one still visible. Infrared scans had
shown the possibility of a cavern system that ran between the now buried buildings. James made his
way towards the back doors of the Library. They are his best shot at entering the cave system.
Pushing the doors open James found himself in a dark passageway, the caverns. Making his way
through he wondered what had allowed these areas to remain open after the catastrophe. Could it be
a hidden air current? Running water? Or something else entirely. Tapping twice on his helmet
activated his torch, cutting away at the darkness. He progressed forward.
After several hours of scouring the caves, James came across his goal. Another concrete structure
was embedded within the cavern wall. Examining the fossilized remains he found a door. IT was a
struggle but eventually, he could push it in and enter the decrepit

Analysis Of The Poem ' The Selkie Cave '
The Selkie swam into his undersea cave that contained his human clothing. Last evening he'd had a
vision he would find his life mate in the area above the sea caves. He needed to find her as his vision
was too strong to disregard. She was a well–built sturdy young Scot lass with sparkling green eyes
and long dark auburn hair which flowed to her waist. He had seen her in his dream, dancing at the
local Highland Gathering. The young woman in his dreams was Mackenzie Sutherland's destiny. He
strode into the clan gathering, he noticed her dancing a Highland Fling with her kilt and hair
whipping around her tight young body. Her smile flashed as she moved to the intricate steps of her
dance. Her cheeks flushed and her eyes blazed with a heat which drew him like a moth to a flame.
Around and around she swirled and kicked to the music of the bagpipes. As she spun around, he
could see her beautiful long legs and the sweet curve of her rounded bottom. Her waist, he realized
he could circle with his hands. Her bust was full and appeared to be a plump handful. Her
complexion was pale as peaches he'd read about in books from her world. While he enjoyed her
dance, passion heated his blood, and Mackenzie recognized she was the young woman from his
dream. Skye loved the dancing and the way she felt as the men's eyes remained on her. In her young
girl's mind, she understood the power she held over them. She viewed the young dark–haired
stranger who watched her with a

Reflection Of My Family
The photo that I have chosen to reflect on depicts me sitting on a large green chair with my brother. I
was anywhere from five to eight, and he was around eleven or thirteen. He is looking out of frame
and has one of those old CD players from the nineties in his lap, his hands hovering over its silver
hardware, frozen in a hesitant stance. He looks entertained, or maybe just distracted. He has what
my family calls his "Harry Potter" glasses perched somewhat low on his nose, and true to the late
nineties and early 2000s' common style, his black hair is spiked up. Beside him is me, in a light
shirt, wearing the thin headphones that accompanied the CD player in his lap. I look either deep in
thought and like I am taking in the music very thoroughly or very uncomfortable. I will let you in on
a hint: I was very uncomfortable. My brother, Jackson, is six or seven years older than I am. He is
rather quiet and reserved like myself, although it is more obvious on him than it is on me. When we
were younger – I was four, my sister was six, and Jackson was eight – our father decided that he
liked another woman better than our mother, and left us. Jackson does not like dealing with
situations like that, that have deep emotional repercussions, and more or less shut himself off to the
world. That included me. I am very sensitive on as to whether or not people want to interact with
me, and as a baseline, I pretty much avoid interacting with people unless it is pretty clear that they
want me to. I was not as good at it as I am now when I was young, so I just generally did not interact
with anyone at all as a baseline. My sister and I have always been somewhat close – even if she did
not like me at all when I was younger – but Jackson and I never talked. I was intimidated. He was so
much older than me! He was responsible! He made good grades! He liked complicated things like
cars and he was so well–spoken! I remember when this picture was taken. It was either late Summer
or anytime in the Spring. The large chair we are sitting in had a window to our right, and a door to a
backyard to our left and not fifteen feet away from us. I have always been interested in music, and
Jackson has always liked good music, and a few

Merlin's Short Story: Amelia And Alli
"Follow me and stay close. We're taking a shortcut." Merlin explained. Twigs and dead leaves from
the previous seasons from many years ago, crunched and snapped under the horse's hooves. Amelia
and Alli looked at the newly revived earth in wonder, for once the trees were no longer barren, the
muddied earth had once again grown lush green grass. The air smelled fresher and for the first time
in decades people could finally see the sun, it was no longer blocked by a thick everlasting blanket
of grey smog, and people could once again grow crops and live as they once did before the horrible
incident. And for the young who hadn't ever seen green on trees or couldn't remember if they had,
could finally look outside their window and see what the world was like before.
As the group went down the same beaten up path, Merlin took a left and the rest followed. The trees,
as amazing as they are seemed to be getting denser. The group of four found themselves in front of a
large cave opening. It was so dark and large that it looked as if it would swallow everything in it's
path. Merlin said that it was safer than it looked and that it would take them wherever they needed to
be. Taking a leap of faith in someone whom you had met only meer hours ago is a more difficult
task than one would think. Amelia and Alli gave a final glance to each other before swallowing ...

The history article After 60 Years, Archaeologists Find New Dead Sea Scrolls Cave and Uraneck's
art article Picasso's Academic Study of a Cast of a Classical Sculpture(1893–94) and the Sight Size
Technique are two distinct displine. However, the studies of Art and History are two discipline that
intertwine with culture. With that in mind, their writing styles in an article are similar in terms of
information that is displayed, appeal, and credibility. One for example, is that Pruitt and Uraneck
start of by defining their topic background like the Dead Sea scrolls or Picasso's art ability.
Furthermore, Pruitt and Uraneck display their topic as account that consist of answering of how,
when, where, and what. The language used to relay information in their account suggest that the two
studies focus on telling a narrative, with outcomes. However, these outcomes are not in a scientific
research format, but in paragraph forms. Further suggestion that their intent is not to give results, but
to portray the Dead Sea scrolls or Picasso as being extraordinary. ... Show more content on

"Welcome to Station 7." An electronic voice said over the intercom. "Enjoy your stay in Nia."

"Come on now Nick. We all know the effect this new fertilizer method would have. It would be
huge. Might even solve the food problems entirely. Besides, they have already shown some
conclusive growth in their preliminary tests." Anthony responded enthusiastically.
"Yeah, preliminary tests that I'm sure they fudged the data on. But it doesn't even matter. We'll have
the official data by tomorrow and then perhaps the higher–ups will cancel the project." Nicholas
retorted as he stepped off the elevator and opened the door to his lab immediately on the left.
Nicholas shut the door without saying goodbye to Anthony. They often arrived at the same time, and

experimental food supplies divisions, with 2 being lab oriented and 3 being design oriented, and
Divisions 4–7 each worked with different organisms that lived in the cave systems around the
colonies or could be created to live in them. Division 8 was administration.

The sky is alive, rain crashes furiously to the ground. Trees topple, lightning shatters the sky,
thunder shakes the ground. Two travelers from two worlds watch the storm only long enough to

Geography Assignment: Landforms and Landscapes (Stage 1)
How Has Rainfall Impacted Stalactite Formation in the Princess Margaret Rose Cave?
Concepts
The seven concepts of geography are used many times by geographers and each concept plays a key
role in landscapes and landforms. Space, Place, Interconnection, Change, Environment, Scale and
Sustainability re all the 7 concepts geographers use. The landscape 'Princess Margaret Rose Cave ' is
arguably the most attractive cave in Victoria and in the cave the 7 concepts are involved.
Space– This concept relates to the way things are arranged in the cave. In Princess Margaret Rose
Cave there are many objects inside, these include: stalagmites, stalactites, shawls, rim pools, straws,
flowstone, cave coral, blankets, bacons, pillars and helictites. All of these are placed in the cave,
some may be coming down at the top or some maybe coming out at the bottom or even some maybe
coming out of the sides. These help geographers to see what is in the cave.
Place– This concept are parts of the cave that are identified and given meaning by people. The
Princess Margaret Rose Cave is located Princess Margaret Rose Caves Road, Mumbanaar VIC
3304. It is located 30 minutes from Mount Gambier and 15 minutes from Nelson. The cave is also
300m from the Glenelg River and the whole cave is situated near a national park: Lower Glenelg

From Darkness to Sunlight: An Analysis of the Allegory of the Cave
Imagine yourself sitting inside a dark, damp, cave where the only thing you can see are moving
shadows on the cave wall in front of you. You can't move anywhere or see anything besides the
shadows, and these are the only things you've seen for your entire life, so these moving dark images
are the most real things you've ever known. At some point in our childhood we were mentally in this

turning round their heads. Above and behind them a fire is blazing at a distance, and between the
fire and the prisoners there is a raised way; and you will see, if you look, a low wall built along the

conversation that is fictional but the fact that it is a conversation between a teacher and his student
shows that the teacher is trying to tell his student an analogous tale to teach him a lesson and that is
the purpose behind the way the paragraph is written, but the exact lesson being taught by Socrates
isn't revealed until later in the passage. This is also the reason the diction in these paragraphs is so
formal, because the teacher is giving a formal lesson and at the same time trying to speak in terms
his student will understand, and to engage thought in the mind of his student because he is

For fifteen minutes, they followed the route on the tag until they reached a cave.
It was large, much larger than they had seen before.
The cave was full of wooden crates, one stacked on top of the other. Altogether thirty in total. If not
more.
Doctor Melilot pressed a hand to his mouth. His heart thumped. Indeed, it was like a cave his father
read about years ago when he was a child. A story about pirate ships full of contraband. Notorious
sailors. Ruthless highwaymen. And although he had since grown up, to find such treasure in his

A thud to his right brought him back to the present.
Alexander dropped to the floor then held out his shaking hands. 'L..l..l..look at me. I'm all fingers

Meanwhile, Doctor Melilot raised the crowbar, and with one fell swoop he brought it down on at

But not with embarrassment.
No, his face turned red because it reflected hundreds of rubies.
And when Doctor Melilot opened the next box, his face turned green.
After that, it glowed blue.
Then sparkled with yellow.
And finally, his eyes twinkled like diamonds.

expecting them, and they're so bright!" I told him before turning my attention back out the window. I
saw the sandy bottom. "What do we do now?" Scarlett was getting impatient once again. "Well, the
poem said to look for a deep and dark cave underwater, so I guess look for a dark cave?" I informed
her. "Ok!" everybody looked out the window for a cave as Willow's dad slowly drove the submarine
around the dark depths.
"There! I see something! It looks like a cave!" I heard Willow suddenly yell

Florida Sinkholes Case Study
h1: Florida Sinkholes in the News – Florida Homes
Evalcuated
Three large holes opened up in the backyard of a Fort
Richey home, forcing the homeowner to evacuate her
home. The sinkhole caused no injuries, but experts
say that this type of occurenace is not rare.
Authorites suspect the sinkhole may have developed
after repairs were recently made to her home. One
hole measured 10 to 20 feet in diameter and 15 feet
deep. As a safety precaution, six nearby homes were
notified of the sinkhole activity and had the option
to leave. Nearby residents were amazed by the size of
the hole.
This incident is just one of many sinkhole stories in
Florida. In fact, Florida has more sinkholes than any
other state. In 2013, one Tampa

Analysis Of Anne Sexton 's Her Kind
When speaking your feeling does not express the truth within you, written words maybe the only
solution. Depression is not always easy to put into words; however, Anne Sexton uses poetry to
express her emotions. After the birth of her second child Sexton suffered a mental break down. In
"Her Kind" Sexton describes how she feels isolated from the world. She refers to herself as a
possessed witch whose warm caves lay in the woods. Sexton uses analogy to express her house as
the warm cave in the woods. This type of metaphor expressed how sexton feels about herself
compared to society. Throughout the poem see uses repetation of I have been her kind. Meaning that
she has tried to fit into the social norm of a women's role, but continued to feel isolated. Finally, she
states that she has ridden in a cart as she is spoken to the drover of the cart. The cart is referring to
death. Which she believes is the only way out of her isolation. Sexton expresses her feeling so
isolation through "Her kind". Three stages of life are within the poem: stanza one depicts adulthood,
becoming a mother and wife during stanza two, then her desire toward death as she expresses a
sense of freedom as "she waves her nude arms to the villages". be describing her childhood life, then
is continues into A few years after writing the poem sexton successes at her desire to death by
suicide.
The tone of Anne Sexton's poem is quiet with an intense sense of story, emotion, and imagery. The

Summary Of ' The Great Gatsby ' By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Prologue
1960
The Selkie swam into his undersea cave that contained his human clothing. Last evening he'd had a
vision he would find his life mate in the area above the sea caves. He needed to find her as his vision
was too strong to disregard. She was a well–built, sturdy young Scot lass with sparkling green eyes
and long dark auburn hair which flowed to her waist. He had seen her in his dream, dancing at the
local Highland gathering. The young woman in his dreams was Mackenzie Sutherland's destiny.
He strode into the clan gathering and saw her doing the Highland fling with her kilt and hair
whipping around her tight young body.
While he enjoyed her
dance, passion heated his blood, and Mackenzie recognized she was the young woman from his
dream.
*
Skye loved the dancing and the way she felt as the men's eyes remained on her. In her young girl's
mind, she understood the power she held over them. She viewed the young dark–haired stranger
who watched her with a

The And The World Of The Night The Floor

  • 1. The And The World Of The Night The Floor Imagine lying in bed sleeping, when in the middle of the night the floor gives way and the earth sucks you up into it. This is what happened to a Florida man in 2013. His friend came by to check on him because he had not heard from him for a while, only to find the large hole in the bedroom and Mr. Bush was no where to be found. He has not been found to this day. A sinkhole swallowed him up alive and was never to be heard from again. Sinkholes are formed from the limestone that is in our ground throughout the U.S.A and the world. There are natural cracks in these bedrocks where the water flows through to the underground into caverns or pockets, and when these pockets dry up due to sewers, drainage pipes and city piping (which makes the natural way of water to be absorbed into the ground, disturbed), it makes the ground soft because there is no more water there to fill the cavern and thus it caves in forming a sinkhole. Florida is nicknamed "sinkhole alley" because between Orlando to Tampa and Miami to Jacksonville, there are over 2500 sinkholes ready to pop up at any given time. There is many underwater springs, in Florida it is called the "Devils Den" which was formed more than ten thousand years ago. In Kentucky, The National Corvette Museum swallowed 8 corvettes last year, it was 40 feet in diam. and 90 feet down to a cave below. In Quatemala City Quatemala in 2010, swallowed up a building it was 55 feet across and 100 feet deep. Underwater ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Descriptive Essay On Crystal Cave Crystal Cave Crystal Cave is full of life. My favorite vacation was the time my family and I went to Pennsylvania's Crystal Cave. Crystal Cave is one of Pennsylvania's most famous tourist attractions, which was discovered in 1881. Crystal Cave was once completely submerged underwater and was formed by an earthquake. It was July 2017, that my family and I were staying in a hotel room in Pennsylvania. We had many things planned for this trip, so we always had something to do. One of the places I saw we were going to was a cave called Crystal Cave. I had no knowledge of this cave, so I didn't know what to expect. But I had remembered the last cave I went to here, Penns Cave. I loved that place, I was fascinated there. So I told my family that I wanted to go to Crystal Cave, so we packed some things and went. When we first arrived there, the showed us a 4–5 minute video about Crystal Cave. I learned that the cave was founded in 1881 by two brothers, William and George Vanasse. I also learned that they had both carved their names in the walls of the cave and you can still see them right now. But Crystal Cave wasn't just a normal cave that you explore in, back then, people used it for weddings, parties, etc. The room where they held these events is still fully functional, so you can still go in there, but I don't think you can have a party in there anymore. When we finally got into the cave, our tour guide told us that there are colonies of brown bats living in the cave, but they have their own part of the cave, so you can't bother them. It was cold in the cave, so everyone wore a sweatshirt. We also saw many different rock formations such as animals, ice cream, and even one that looks like Donald Duck! There were many glistening and shining crystals that William and George had thought were diamonds, but they were just a very common crystal. They had a cave formation that you could touch. The tour guide called them rotten eggs because they looked like eggs that had been dropped and never cleaned up. When I touched them, they were smooth and moist, yet somehow warm and lumpy. They had a rare rock formation, a column! A column is created when a stalactite and a stalagmite combine together form one long pillar. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Cause Of Sinkholes In The Southern States Our topic is sinkholes. Sinkholes are holes that are formed in the ground from the underlay of rocks collapsing. The majority of sinkholes in the U.S. occur in Florida because the state is on top of carbonate rocks which are weak Sinkholes are pits in the ground that form where water gathers with no drainage. The water weakens the ground under the surface and any weight on the affected area will collapse the ground. Sinkholes are mostly likely to happen in southern states of the United States because of the soft limestone under the southern states. The states don't have good drainage under them therefore the land under is weak. Some sinkholes don't cause any damage but a lot of them can swallow up people, buildings, and houses. In Florida, ... • 11. Plato's Cave Philosophy I have always been stubbornly convinced that Plato is one of the best Western philosophers of the pen (in my understanding can be compared with the Chinese Confucius). For me, this philosopher's most powerful claim is not the "ideal country" that is widely regarded today as a fictional world, but is also fictitious. To me, I like his cave metaphor, the metaphor says is: a person (more often a group of people) in the cave was chained, tied to the Face to see their own image, and then that is true, and for whom the encouragement or sadness, for a fortuitous reason, was or initiative to dismantle the chain, such an inexplicable access to unfamiliar freedom of people. But this ideal experiment or story is very interesting. The experience of my generation has shown all the secrets, but I have been too lazy to recall, as well as related to the narrative. My question is how do we know that we are not living in caves? How do we protect those who see the sun, and try to restrain their anger and not to kill him? In fact, how many people are willing to admit that they live in the cave? Unfortunately, we have been living in the cave, not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Creative Story : A Short Story Trappe woke with a start before sunrise, focusing his eyes on the shapes of the distant hills as they emerged from the darkness. He felt a chill from the open rear window of the station wagon and turned to Curtis, still asleep beside him. "Curtis, wake up," he whispered, followed by a "shushing" sound as he put his index finger to his lips. Curtis' eyes fluttered open. "It's time. Follow me," Trappe said in a low voice as he finished lacing up his boots and grabbed his jean jacket. He figured the jacket would be a burden to carry in the heat of the day but was a necessity now. He climbed over the tailgate motioning Curtis to follow. They crept past their father and T. W. who were bundled in their sleeping bags next to the remaining embers from last night's fire. They picked their backpacks with snacks, water, a flashlight, and rope, then stepped lightly away. "Where are we going? I'm hungry." Curtis said, a little too loudly as he stepped behind Trappe. "Quiet, dummy, we're gonna find some gold." "We'll eat something just over that ridge." Curtis stopped and looked back at the two lumps by the smoldering ashes. "I don't think we should go without Mr. T. W. or dad knowing where we are." Trapped turned on Curtis, his eyes boring into him. "Quiet," he hissed. "T. W. doesn't own this land and besides I think the gold is in those caves over the hill" Trappe shouldered the backpack, and started walking again. These developments are made by a procedure which includes three stages. Although the actual event of the sinkhole itself is very short, the effects of it last throughout the rest of the book. The sinkhole itself affects many characters in the book, including Erik. Because of the sinkhole, the Lake Windsor bleachers by their football field are left "unsafe." "The condemned area includes all of the portables of course. But to the south, it also includes a corner of the soccer field and all of the baseball diamond. To the north, it includes nearly all of the high school football bleachers that back up onto the middle school," (Bloor 87). This quote is significant because it shows which areas of the campus are marked as unsafe, which means that Erik won't be able to have a huge audience at his games, thanks to the unsafe bleachers. Holt had grabbed her arm and pulled her to safety, just as a large section of the cave roof had collapsed above her. 'Lucky I spotted this passageway, eh, child, or we would be resting underneath that,' he said solemnly. 'Thank you,' Jessica replied, rubbing her eyes trying to clear the dust out of them. 'But what happened to the rest? Where are my brother and sister?' 'Well, I guess we go this way. Switch off your...' he motioned towards her torch. 'Save it for when this runs out.' 'It's a torch,' she said flicking it off. 'I know that,' he called back, marching off down the passage. They continued on, grateful that they were both of small stature. Anyone a little bigger than them would have struggled to squeeze through the tight confines of the passageway. The little tunnel twisted and turned ahead of them, its floor gently sloping away into the darkness. Then the lantern flickered and died. She prayed Holt was right, and that Danielle and George had not been hurt, or worse, back there in the explosions. The tunnel carried on monotonously, getting steeper and narrower. • 21. Focus Area 1: Physical Geography Focus Area 1: Physical Geography Introduction: What are sinkholes? Sinkholes are depressions or cavities in the ground caused by some form of collapse of the surface layer. Most are caused by karst processes – formed from the dissolution of soluble rocks such as limestone and gypsum. Sinkholes vary greatly in size from 1 to 600 metres, both in diameter and depth. They also vary in form from soil–lined bowls to bedrock–edged chasms. Sinkholes may form gradually or suddenly, and can occur worldwide. Formation of sinkholes Natural Processes The formation of sinkholes can involve natural processes including suffusion or the gradual removal of the soluble carbonate bedrock (e.g. limestone and gypsum) through the circulation of groundwater. ... • 23. The Tragedy Of Florida Native Jeff Bush INTRODUCTION Rarely do the geologic processes of the earth make major news headlines, but oftentimes when they do, it is because a catastrophic event has occurred and has seized public attention. This was unfortunately the case in 2013, when Florida native Jeff Bush became the victim of a tragic geologic event that left many Americans wondering if they were truly ever standing on "solid ground" (Sinkhole Swallows Florida Man). Bush, and a large portion of his suburban home, was swallowed up by a sudden sinkhole as his brother looked on in horror, trying in vain to rescue him as he was forced deeper underground. This sinkhole developed as a result of the dissolution of limestone, which is prevalent under much of Florida's soil, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of this paper is to define karst topography as it appears in the United States, to illustrate how natural chemical processes facilitate sinkhole development, and to present a brief overview of how modern geotechnical and hydrogeological specialists are attempting to solve the sinkhole problem through innovative engineering design and land study. Ultimately, the goal from an engineering perspective is to understand karst and sinkholes on a fundamental level so that a variety of case–by–case solutions may be made available to keep the public safe. This is certainly one geological problem where the stakes are high, and humankind is competing against the very ground it stands upon. The question is: Will filling holes in engineering knowledge translate to preventing sinkholes from causing any more damage than they already have? KARST The karst terrain which creates the geomorphic conditions for sinkholes is a broad topic in the field of geology, and encompasses the study of groundwater, drainage, chemical processes, and many other considerations. Essentially, karst regions are located where the rock below the earth can be dissolved by the acidic groundwater which percolates through it (The Science of Sinkholes). These areas are underlain by soluble rocks such as gypsum, limestone, and dolomite which typically react with carbonic acid (H2CO3) from groundwater to dissolve the rock. Presence of limestone is ... • 29. Physical Geography: Bleakholes In America Physical Geography This section will analyze sinkholes from a broad perspective and then hone in on Florida sinkholes. The term "doline" is the preferred scientific and international term, which is synonymous with "sinkhole," but because it is widely known and used in America, the term "sinkhole" will be retained during this study. In this paper, the term "sinkhole" refers to a depression caused by the solution of limestone. In brief, sinkholes form when the land surface above collapses into subsurface voids. According to Younger (2007), "Natural subsidence is a widespread consequence of the collapse of subsurface voids, which in turn owe their existence to the erosive action of groundwaters" (p.178). While all sinkholes share the same characteristic of a surface depression, the origin of this depression can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the literature, there has been much debate over the definition of a sinkhole, which has resulted in issues related to what insurance companies cover. Insurance rules currently provide some coverage, but there is confusion over what is actually covered because of the difficulty defining the term "sinkhole" (Brinkmann, 2013, p.193). There are many factors to consider when defining the term "sinkhole" for policy purposes: origin of the geologic depression, size, and the rate at which it occurred. For example, geologic depressions can occur as the result of decaying organic matter underground; technically, this would not result in a sinkhole. Sinkholes vary in size and shape, and there is currently no definition that clearly states official size limits of a sinkhole; this same concept applies to the rate at which a sinkhole occurs. It is worth noting, we have previously defined the term "sinkhole" for this study – a depression caused by the solution of limestone – and this definition will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theories about the death of Otzi are as varied as the ages through which he's slept . Assassination by an envious, bloodthirsty clan mate seems most plausible. This scenario is likely because of Otzi's copper axe , the arrowhead which took his life, and a large cave drawing with a shocking story to tell. Ötzi, like all of us, far from invincible, deserves justice. The Iceman's axe is the first piece of important evidence to consider in this ancient cold case. • 37. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Limestone Caves and minimized? A Cave: Caves, also known as karsts, are very unique and are a special part of our natural environment. Caves form over a long period of time, 1000 of years (National Geographic, 2015). Caves are made up of rock, ranging from volcanic to limestone. Limestone caves are more pleasing to the eye as they usually contain more decoration such as stalactites, Shawls and Straws. As limestone caves are more decorated they are more prone to damage and deformation (Science Kids, 2016). Damaged caused by humans in caves: Humans are causing great damage to limestone caves, some of which the caves themself cannot recover from. Physical damage by humans has the greatest impact on caves (Bob Robins, 2005) There are many ways humans have and continue to still damage caves, Majority of people assume that the main damage to caves is through touching formations (Caving ,Survey 2017) However there are many other factors that damage the cave just as badly such as graffiti, modernising caves and rainfall. Tourist caves undergo the most damage (G.Enriquez, B, 2001)with lost formations, climate changes, and urbanising the caves. Limestone caves are more susceptible to damage from a change in climate than volcanic caves due to the rock type. When tourists enter caves they can create thermal annomalies, the anomalies effect the overall temperature in the cave and this in turn effects the production of formations. (FECYT, 2011). • 39. Caves : An Underground Hollow With Access From The Ground... Review of Literature Introduction to Caves According to Dictionary.com , a cave is an underground hollow with access from the ground surface or fromthe sea, often found in limestone areas and on rocky coastlines. The way caves develop and form is called speleogenesis. Caves form when weathering of rocks, erosion, pressure, and chemical transactions takes place. Caves can take over thousands of years to form and age back to centuries ago. Most caves are usually found in limestone. Because of this, a lot of caves first start to form because it will rain and the water will seep into the surface, becoming slightly acidic as its progressing down. The acid is able to break down limestone and this continues for hundreds of years. The water makes the cracks in the surface much larger, exposing them to the air. The water starts to create formations in this new cave with the help of some other chemical reactions, thus constructing a cave. Caves have been used for lots of human occupations, some starting a very long time ago. Caves were used for art. Lots of paintings can be found in them. Cueva de las Manos is a cave in Argentina that is known for the art of handprints on the insides of the cave. Also, Cueva de la Manos is translated to "Cave of Hands" in English. Within the Paleolithic period of the Stone Age, people began to create stone tools and weapons, and caves were a place for this to happen. I was anywhere from five to eight, and he was around eleven or thirteen. He is looking out of frame and has one of those old CD players from the nineties in his lap, his hands hovering over its silver hardware, frozen in a hesitant stance. He looks entertained, or maybe just distracted. When we were younger – I was four, my sister was six, and Jackson was eight – our father decided that he liked another woman better than our mother, and left us. Jackson does not like dealing with situations like that, that have deep emotional repercussions, and more or less shut himself off to the world. That included me. I am very sensitive on as to whether or not people want to interact with me, and as a baseline, I pretty much avoid interacting with people unless it is pretty clear that they want me to. I was not as good at it as I am now when I was young, so I just generally did not interact with anyone at all as a baseline. My sister and I have always been somewhat close – even if she did not like me at all when I was younger – but Jackson and I never talked. I was intimidated. He was so much older than me! He was responsible! He made good grades! He liked complicated things like cars and he was so well–spoken! I remember when this picture was taken. It was either late Summer or anytime in the Spring. However, the studies of Art and History are two discipline that intertwine with culture. With that in mind, their writing styles in an article are similar in terms of information that is displayed, appeal, and credibility. One for example, is that Pruitt and Uraneck start of by defining their topic background like the Dead Sea scrolls or Picasso's art ability. Furthermore, Pruitt and Uraneck display their topic as account that consist of answering of how, when, where, and what. The language used to relay information in their account suggest that the two studies focus on telling a narrative, with outcomes. "Enjoy your stay in Nia." Nicholas Pierce looked up from his tablet and grabbed his brief case from the seat beside him. Actively avoided eye contact with anyone, he shuffled out into the open square. The light from the giant solar lamps attached to the ceiling of the cave high above caused him to wince and look down into his tablet once again. It was already eight o' clock. The trams seemed to be getting later and later every day. Checking his email, Nicholas once again read over his project schedule. 10:00– Three samples to be run through the test again. 12:30– Results need to be sent over to ... We all know the effect this new fertilizer method would have. It would be huge. Might even solve the food problems entirely. Besides, they have already shown some conclusive growth in their preliminary tests." Anthony responded enthusiastically. "Yeah, preliminary tests that I'm sure they fudged the data on. But it doesn't even matter. We'll have the official data by tomorrow and then perhaps the higher–ups will cancel the project." Nicholas retorted as he stepped off the elevator and opened the door to his lab immediately on the left. Nicholas shut the door without saying goodbye to Anthony. They often arrived at the same time, and Nicholas found Anthony's attitude towards Division 3 to be too hopeful. Nia Bio–Tech had eight divisions total (evidently mimicking the eight colonies) each with its own goals and purpose. Division 1 dealt with artificial materials, Division 2 and 3 were each experimental food supplies divisions, with 2 being lab oriented and 3 being design oriented, and Divisions 4–7 each worked with different organisms that lived in the cave systems around the colonies or could be created to live in them. Two travelers from two worlds watch the storm only long enough to know it is a monsoon worthy of legends. Ashely had gone camping only this morning under clear skies and tamed weather. She is a lover of the wild, mostly for the quiet. She plans every three or so months to spend a week living off the land. She is young and her skills as a hunter are not yet refined. But you don't need to trap and kill your own food when there are places like Midnight Market where you can pick up all the oatmeal and sun–dried grapes one can eat for barely more than pocket change. Ashley has been doing this ever since she was in her early teens. She had noticed when she was thirteen that her sent had a powerful effect on other foxes, and in exponentially greater one if she happened to be in estrus. So she mapped out her heat cycle and made the arrangements to always be out of town when her heat hit. In the seven years now Ashley has done this she has seen the strange, and the unsettling out in the woods, but never has she seen rain so harshly that the rain burns the skin and darkens one's vision. Her clothes are soaked through in moments and her backpack saturates, her hunting coat offers her no protection for the vengeful storm. There is only one thing Ashley can think to do. Maybe 2 summers ago Ashley had discovered a natural cave only a mile or so from her camp ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You can't move anywhere or see anything besides the shadows, and these are the only things you've seen for your entire life, so these moving dark images are the most real things you've ever known. At some point in our childhood we were mentally in this state of darkness, we didn't know anything about the world or have any complex thoughts. Above and behind them a fire is blazing at a distance, and between the fire and the prisoners there is a raised way; and you will see, if you look, a low wall built along the way, like the screen which marionette players have in front of them, over which they show the puppets." (Plato) This entire passage is a dialogue between Socrates and Glaucon. Glaucon was the older brother of Plato, and Socrates was the teacher of Plato and Glaucon at his academy. This is a conversation that is fictional but the fact that it is a conversation between a teacher and his student shows that the teacher is trying to tell his student an analogous tale to teach him a lesson and that is the purpose behind the way the paragraph is written, but the exact lesson being taught by Socrates isn't revealed until later in the passage. This is also the reason the diction in these paragraphs is so formal, because the teacher is giving a formal lesson and at the same time trying to speak in terms his student will understand, and to engage thought in the mind of his student because he is ... Easing back on the clutch, Doctor Melilot reversed the camper van inch by inch, until a few minutes later he cut out the engine. And when Alexander tried the passenger door, he realised they were stuck. As stuck as a schmuck in a truck! 'I've blocked the entrance, so we'll go out the rear door,' Doctor Melilot sighed. The deeper they went, the narrower the tunnel became, and it was not long before they reached the next fork. 'Left,' said Doctor Melilot. Again, Alexander marked the wall. For fifteen minutes, they followed the route on the tag until they reached a cave. It was large, much larger than they had seen before. The cave was full of wooden crates, one stacked on top of the other. Altogether thirty in total. If not more. Doctor Melilot pressed a hand to his mouth. His heart thumped. Indeed, it was like a cave his father read about years ago when he was a child. A story about pirate ships full of contraband. Notorious sailors. Ruthless highwaymen. And although he had since grown up, to find such treasure in his adulthood went beyond his wildest dreams. A thud to his right brought him back to the present. Alexander dropped to the floor then held out his shaking hands. 'L..l..l..look at me. I'm all fingers and thumbs.' Meanwhile, Doctor Melilot raised the crowbar, and with one fell swoop he brought it down on at box. Crack! And when he lifted the lid, Alexander turned red. But not with embarrassment. No, his face turned red because it reflected hundreds of rubies. And when Doctor Melilot opened the next box, his face turned green. After that, it glowed blue.

  • 78. Summary Of ' The Great Gatsby ' By F. Scott Fitzgerald Prologue 1960 The Selkie swam into his undersea cave that contained his human clothing. Last evening he'd had a vision he would find his life mate in the area above the sea caves. He needed to find her as his vision was too strong to disregard. She was a well–built, sturdy young Scot lass with sparkling green eyes and long dark auburn hair which flowed to her waist. He had seen her in his dream, dancing at the local Highland gathering. The young woman in his dreams was Mackenzie Sutherland's destiny. He strode into the clan gathering and saw her doing the Highland fling with her kilt and hair whipping around her tight young body. Her smile flashed as she moved to the intricate steps of her dance. Her cheeks flushed and her eyes blazed with a heat which drew him like a moth to a flame. Around and around she swirled and kicked to the music of the bagpipes. As she spun around, he could see her beautiful long legs and the sweet curve of her rounded bottom. Her waist, he realized he could circle with his hands. Her bust was full and appeared to be a plump handful. Her complexion was pale as peaches he'd read about in books from her world. While he enjoyed her dance, passion heated his blood, and Mackenzie recognized she was the young woman from his dream. * Skye loved the dancing and the way she felt as the men's eyes remained on her.
