Classified as a frontier market, Kenya is the largest and the most advanced economic entity in

Stage 1: The traditional society:
Kenya is a still in a "traditional society" stage, which is characterized by a rural economy. Nulty
(2012) also averred a pessimistic view of Kenyan current status. According to data from the World
Bank, until 2005, the agriculture sector still trapped about 65 of its labour forces.
As learned in the class, driven by three major components in the Harrod–Domar model, the Kenya's
growth can be illustrated as following.

Firstly, theatrically speaking, investment is vital for the development. Internally, a country's
development can be driven by high domestic savings. Externally, it can be done by attracting foreign
investment.
2. The saving rate of Kenya, however, owns a downward trend.
Historically, Kenyan government, in order to foster the development of domestic firms, expelled
foreign investment, and those policies further worsen the situation. Although the exploitation from
multinational corporations lessened, the economy, as a whole, suffers by, for example, lost job
opportunities provided by foreign companies. Kinyua (2002) stated that the poor infrastructure
condition in Kenya slowed the progress of developing in agricultural sector; it also caused an

Lately, it is becoming more and more common for companies to report their financials using Non–
GAAP earnings. "A non–GAAP financial measure is a numerical measure of an issuer's historical or
future financial performance, financial position, or cash flow that excludes amounts that are found in
GAAP financials" (SEC, 2002). Non–GAAP earnings are an alternative way of reporting the
performance of a company as opposed to GAAP earnings. Many companies often report non–GAAP
earnings alongside the required GAAP earnings. They claim that non–GAAP earnings more
accurately depicts what the company is going through and precisely shows their financials. A few
common examples of non– GAAP earnings are pro forma earnings, cash earnings, operating
earnings, and EBITA (SEC, 2002). Pro forma refers to earnings, which exclude non–recurring items
(SEC, 2001). It is regularly found that technology startups are responsible for a lot of the use of
non–GAAP earnings because these corporations remove certain items like taxes in their non–GAAP
accounting to turn loss into profit (Young 2013). Because of the lack of standardization and the
potential for creative accounting, it makes it difficult to draw relevant comparisons among

For the younger age group, I observed a 6–month–old, boy infant, called Manden, in my friend's
home.
1. Adult/Teacher Interaction: In an adult interaction, the child I observed were more engaged with

rhythm, and he responded to us by smiling and being excited. As I observe in terms of turn–taking, I

He really enjoyed playing the games. I realize that whenever I hid my face from him, his face

interaction in my observation. At first, Manden was really attached to his mother. He was afraid

calling his name. He has also become more excited when her sister come near him and tried to play
with him. Even though I expected to see more active interaction between Manden and his sister, but
