4. B. BRASS BAND
• Filipinos love fiestas. The word fiesta will
surely bring a smile to the face of almost any
FIlipino.
• It is a special time with friends, for felloship,
food and lots of activities.
• It is of Spanish origin. When missionaries
came to the Philippines, they found that the
fiesta was a convenient tool to encourage
the natives to believe in Christianity.
5. B. BRASS BAND
• During summer, on the month of May, when
most provinces celebrate their fiestas to
honor their patron saints.
• When the Spaniards came, many
communities were named after saints.
• Fiesta is never complete without band music
which is usually performed by brass bands.
• A brass band is a musical ensemble,
generally consisting entirely of brass and
percussion instruments.

• French Horn is
somewhat larger than a
trumpet so it is pitched
lower than the trumpet.

sized tuba.

are the lowest-pitched
and largest instruments
of the brass family.
• Trombone unlike the
French horn and
trumpet, it is considered
“low brass” and read
from the bass clef

are the smallest
instruments in the brass
family which produce
the highest pitch.
• Bass drum provides the
pulse, tone color, and
dynamics.

• Snare drum is a percussion
instrument which produces a
deeper-sounding tone. It is
responsible for the twirls and the
rolls of the band.
• Glockenspiel is the marching
band’s xylophone. It is made of
metals plates or tubes thus
maming it a metallophones.

bamboo music plays piccolos, tubas,
clarinets, flutes, and saxophones that are
crafted from bamboo.
• Is is known that the band members are the
ones who crafted their own instruments
from bamboo.

12. D. Bamboo Organ
• The Las Piñas Bamboo organ is a 19th century
church organ with unique pipes made of bamboo.
• It is known as the first pipe organ in the world
built by Father Diego Cera dela Virgendel Carmen.
• It is housed at the Parish Church of St Joseph in
the City of Las Piñas.
• It is considered a National Cultural Treasure.
14. E. ANGKLUNG ENSEMBLE
• The Angklung is a popular bamboo musical
instrument that originated in Indonesia.
• This can be played by simply shaking it.
• It is usually made of 2 to 4 bamboo tubes
attached to a bamboo frame.
• The angklung is part of a bamboo
xylophone orchestra.
16. F. Pangkat Kawayan
• The “Pangkat Kawayan” (literally bamboo
band) otherwise known as “Singing Bamboos
of the Philippines is a unique orchestra that
draws music from unconventional bamboo
instruments.
