Tennis is a racket sport
that can be played
individually against a
single opponent (singles)
or between two teams of
two players each
(doubles)

The object of the game is to
maneuver the ball in such a
way that the opponent is
not able to play a valid
return.
The player who is unable to
return the ball will not gain
a point.

It is the venue where the
sport of tennis is played.
It is a firm rectangular
surface witha low net
stretched across the center.
The same surface can be
used to play both doubles
and singles matches.

are covered in a fibrous felt
which modifies their
aerodynamic properties,
and each has a white
curvilinear oval covering it.
TENNIS BALLS
is a sports implement
consisting of a handled
frame with an open hoop
across which a network of
strings or catgut is
stretched tightly.

is a shot to start a point. A player will hit the
ball with a racquet so it will fall into
diagonally opposite service box without
being stopped by the net.
Normally players begin a serve by tossing
the ball into the air and hitting it.
Players normally serve overhead,
howeverserving underhand is allowed.

is a forehand or backhand shot that is
executed after a ball bounces once on the
court.
It is usually hot from the back of the tenis
court, around the baseline.
2. GROUNDSTROKE
is a shot in which the ball is struck before it
bounces on the ground.
generally a player hits a volley while
standing near the net, although it can be
executed farther back, in the middle of the
tennis court or even near the baseline.
3. VOLLEY
Shot done with the stroke below the head
about waist level the ball travelling up.
4. LOB
Shot usually done with the stroke above
below the head, the ball travelling up but
dropping just near the net; can be done
using either backhand or forehand.
5. DROP
Shot done with the stroke above the head,
the ball travelling down with power and
speed.
6. SMASH

A tennis match if made up of two to
three sets. To win a set, a player must
win at least six games.

2. Each game is scored starting at “love” or zero
and go up to 40. From love, the first point is 15.
then 30, then 40, then game point, which wins
the game.

3. There are 2 differennt
methods of scoring in a set.
a. Advantage set - the 1st
player/team to win six
games over the opponents,
the set shall continue until
the margin is achieved.

b. Tie-break-set - the 1st
player/team to win six
games wins the set,
provided there is a margin of
2 games over the
oppopnents. If the score
reaches six games all, a tie
break game shall be played.
4. A match can be played to the best of 3 sets
(a player/team needs to win 2 sets to win the
march) or to the best of 5 sets (a player/team
needs to win 3 sets to win the match.

5. If a ball touches a line, it is regarded as
touching the court bounded by that line.
6. When serving in a
standard game, the server
shall stand behind alternate
halves of the court, starting
from the right half of the
court in every game.
7. If a first service is a fault, the server shall serve
again without delay from behind the same
half of the court from which that fault was
served, unless the service was from the
wrong half.
