SYNOPSIS DPW
The Diploma in Town and Regional
Planning programme is designed to
cover the broad discipline of Town and
Regional Planning. The foundation
includes land use and physical
planning, social planning,
environmental planning, economic
planning, transport planning and
proficient computing skills related to
Town and Regional Planning. The
knowledge and skills coverage of
various fields would provide graduates
with a wider range of employment
opportunities.
Apart from the technical knowledge
and skills, the programme also
emphasizes on the development of the
individual potential of students in an
integrated and holistic manner through
courses such as Islamic studies, moral
studies, co-curriculum, soft and
entrepreneurship skills.
JOB PROSPECT
This programme provides the knowledge
and skills in town and regional planning.

students acquire from the programme
will enable them to participate in the job

INTRODUCTION
Town and regional planning is about
improving the quality of cities and
regions through planning, designing
and managing of the built
environment. Diploma in Town and
Regional Planning is a three (3) year
fulltime programme comprising of six
(6) semester course work with one (1)
full semester of industrial training.
Students with Diploma in Town and
Regional Planning will became an
assistant town planner.
Assistant town planner assist
communities, companies and
governments to integrate the
environment, economic and social
aspect of development from small town
up to whole regions with the emphasis
on sustainable development.
Planning deals with strategic work as
well as structural and statutory
components through built and natural
environment and the legislative
framework for land use control
PROGRAMME AIM
This programme believes that every
individual has the potential to succeed.
This programme aims to nurture creative
and responsible senior assistant Town
Planner equipped with entrepreneurship
abilities to facilitate citizen well-being and
innovation towards socially and
environmentally sustainable human
settlement.

Diploma in Town and Regional Planning
programme shall produce assistant town
planners who are:

OBE
Outcome-Based Education
PENDIDIKAN BERASASKAN HASIL (OBE)
Merupakan proses yang melibatkan penstrukturan semula kurikulum,
penilaian dan laporan dalam pendidikan. Ini bagi membolehkan para
pelajar memperolehi pencapaian dan menguasai pembelajaran tahap
tertinggi setiap semester tanpa menunggu sehingga memenuhi kredit
program dan tamat pengajian di politeknik. Konsep OBE selalunya akan
fokus kepada hasil pelaksanaan sesuatu program yang ditawarkan di
politeknik.
OBE lebih menjurus kepada perancangan dan hasil yang bakal diperolehi
oleh setiap pelajar dalam setiap program yang diikuti.
Hasil pembelajaran lebih menitikberatkan terhadap persoalan apakah
jangkaan yang perlu para pelajar capai dari segi pengetahuan,
kefahaman atau kebolehan untuk membuat sesuatu ataupun kualiti yang
perlu dibangunkan oleh mereka sendiri semasa pengajian di politeknik.
Pendidikan berasaskan hasil (OBE) menekankan kepada pembelajaran pelajar
dengan:
a) Menggunakan pernyataan (1) hasil pembelajaran yang jelas untuk
memudahkan para pelajar mengetahui dan memahami tentang jangkaan hasil
yang perlu mereka capai.
b) Menyediakan (2) aktiviti pembelajaran tertentu dengan tujuan untuk
membolehkan para pelajar mencapai semua hasil yang dirancangkan.
c) Menilai (3) tahap pencapaian pelajar berbanding kriteria penilaian yang telah
ditetapkan secara jelas dan berkesan.

Secara keseluruhannya, OBE akan memfokuskan kepada empat (4)
elemen yang utama dalam pelaksanaan sepanjang program
akademik iaitu
(i) Perancangan (planning),
(ii) Pelaksanaan (implementation),
(iii) Pemantauan (monitoring), dan
(iv) Penilaian (assessment) sepertimana digambarkan dalam Rajah 1
Rajah 1
Kaedah penilaian juga menjadi alat yang penting dalam mengenalpasti
pencapaian setiap pelajar.
Daripada penilaian ini, jika pencapaian berada di bawah sasaran yang
ditetapkan, proses Penambahbaikan Kualiti Berterusan (Continuous Quality
Improvement – CQI) perlu dijalankan dalam usaha meningkatkan
pencapaian hasil program yang dirancang secara berterusan.
Pelaksanaan ini juga menggunakan konsep PDCA
(Plan, Do, Check dan Action) iaitu Rancang, Laksana, Periksa dan Tindakan
seperti ditunjukkan dalam Rajah 2

  • 3. SYNOPSIS DPW The Diploma in Town and Regional Planning programme is designed to cover the broad discipline of Town and Regional Planning. The foundation includes land use and physical planning, social planning, environmental planning, economic planning, transport planning and proficient computing skills related to Town and Regional Planning. The knowledge and skills coverage of various fields would provide graduates with a wider range of employment opportunities. Apart from the technical knowledge and skills, the programme also emphasizes on the development of the individual potential of students in an integrated and holistic manner through courses such as Islamic studies, moral studies, co-curriculum, soft and entrepreneurship skills.

  • 5. INTRODUCTION Town and regional planning is about improving the quality of cities and regions through planning, designing and managing of the built environment. Diploma in Town and Regional Planning is a three (3) year fulltime programme comprising of six (6) semester course work with one (1) full semester of industrial training. Students with Diploma in Town and Regional Planning will became an assistant town planner. Assistant town planner assist communities, companies and governments to integrate the environment, economic and social aspect of development from small town up to whole regions with the emphasis on sustainable development. Planning deals with strategic work as well as structural and statutory components through built and natural environment and the legislative framework for land use control
  • 6. PROGRAMME AIM This programme believes that every individual has the potential to succeed. This programme aims to nurture creative and responsible senior assistant Town Planner equipped with entrepreneurship abilities to facilitate citizen well-being and innovation towards socially and environmentally sustainable human settlement. PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO) Diploma in Town and Regional Planning programme shall produce assistant town planners who are: PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO) PEO 1 knowledgeable and competent to address town planning issues in line with industry requirement. PEO 2 integrate social skills as part of their responsibilities; portray professionalism and value in engaging with development issues PEO 3 adapt the roles of a leader and a team player to communicate effectively in providing quality and creative solutions for development issues PEO 4 acquire new knowledge and skills for career advancement and innovatively manage resources and information 3 to 5 YEARS AFTER GRADUATION

  • 11. PENDIDIKAN BERASASKAN HASIL (OBE) Merupakan proses yang melibatkan penstrukturan semula kurikulum, penilaian dan laporan dalam pendidikan. Ini bagi membolehkan para pelajar memperolehi pencapaian dan menguasai pembelajaran tahap tertinggi setiap semester tanpa menunggu sehingga memenuhi kredit program dan tamat pengajian di politeknik. Konsep OBE selalunya akan fokus kepada hasil pelaksanaan sesuatu program yang ditawarkan di politeknik. OBE lebih menjurus kepada perancangan dan hasil yang bakal diperolehi oleh setiap pelajar dalam setiap program yang diikuti. Hasil pembelajaran lebih menitikberatkan terhadap persoalan apakah jangkaan yang perlu para pelajar capai dari segi pengetahuan, kefahaman atau kebolehan untuk membuat sesuatu ataupun kualiti yang perlu dibangunkan oleh mereka sendiri semasa pengajian di politeknik.

Secara keseluruhannya, OBE akan memfokuskan kepada empat (4) elemen yang utama dalam pelaksanaan sepanjang program akademik iaitu (i) Perancangan (planning), (ii) Pelaksanaan (implementation), (iii) Pemantauan (monitoring), dan (iv) Penilaian (assessment) sepertimana digambarkan dalam Rajah 1 Rajah 1
  • 14. Kaedah penilaian juga menjadi alat yang penting dalam mengenalpasti pencapaian setiap pelajar. Daripada penilaian ini, jika pencapaian berada di bawah sasaran yang ditetapkan, proses Penambahbaikan Kualiti Berterusan (Continuous Quality Improvement – CQI) perlu dijalankan dalam usaha meningkatkan pencapaian hasil program yang dirancang secara berterusan.
