8. Internship or thesis abroad
Master only!
You need to arrange the following by yourself:
- A location for your internship or thesis
- Approval from your master’s programme
- A suitable supervisor abroad
- Register your Internship or Thesis abroad in the Study abroad
portal in uSis!
You can make arrangements with the internship/thesis
coordinator of your own master specialization.

Always ask permission before departure!
• No overlap with courses in your programme (bachelor / master)
• No English language proficiency courses
• Academic course (no practical course)

22. Application Internal Selection
1. Do you meet the requirements?
2. Make a study plan: does it fit?
3. Select partner universities:
• Max. 10 universities university wide exchange
• Max. 5 universities faculty exchange
4. Submit online application and upload:
• Motivation letter – Why do you want to study abroad and why at your selected destinations?
• Proof of language proficiency and plan (if language of instruction is not English)
• For master students not having a Leiden University bachelor degree: upload your BA degree
from your home university INCLUDING your GPA

housing, visa, Health & Safety meeting, insurance,
finances...
6. Study Abroad!
27. Upon return
• Arrange recognition of credits
• Submit a student report (and photos, video’s, vlogs, blogs …)
• Give information to other students during:
- Psychology Experience Days
- Study Abroad Festival

Follow the separate Session about Finances and Scholarships
Scholarships offered by Leiden University:
• Inside Europe: Erasmus+ (monthly payment)
• Outside Europe: Lustra+ and Holland Scholarship (one time payment)
• OV-vergoeding
A lot of paperwork: International Exchange Coordinator can sign documents.
