Welcome!
Università Bocconi has always been widely acknowl-
edged for the quality of the students graduating from
its Master of Science programs; 10 of these 2-year
programs are offered by the Graduate School, in ad-
dition to a range of shorter Specialized Master pro-
grams. In the competitive job arena awaiting Master
graduates, our 2-year MSc programs have proven to
be an effective gateway for international careers. I
would like to point out a few of the distinctive fea-
tures that will make your Master of Science a valuable
experience, both on our campus in Milan and for your
future.
Academic Quality
The quality of our programs depends first of all on the
quality of our Faculty. Bocconi continuously invests in
attracting talented faculty members who contribute to
improving our reputation both in teaching and in re-
search, allowing our students to get in touch with the
most up-to-date knowledge in each field.
Strong Relationships
with Top Employers
Thanks to the careful combination of a strong theoreti-
cal background and an emphasis on relevant real-world
applications, our programs and our graduates are high-
ly regarded by top international recruiters.
Internationalization
Students have the chance to study and interact with
classmates from many different countries. We also of-
fer a large number of opportunities for one-semester
exchange programs or for Double Degrees with top in-
stitutions within and outside Europe. These opportu-
nities to acquire greater international exposure form an
important advantage of a 2-year program with respect
to the standard 1-year format.
Tailor-Made Specialization Paths
Our programs will provide you with the chance to de-
velop solid knowledge in all the core topics during your
first year, while choosing from among a wide list of
elective courses during the second year. This will give
you a lot of flexibility to design a study plan with a spe-
cific focus that is aligned with your interests, and to
delve more deeply into it.
A Top Alumni Network
with High-Quality Peers
Relationships with peers, faculty members and other
contacts represent crucial added value to your universi-
ty experience. Our Alumni Association, which is well
established and steadily growing across scores of coun-
tries, will be the natural way to keep in touch with peers
and with the University throughout your future career.

CHOOSING
A BOCCONI
MASTER
OF SCIENCE
In 2015-2016, the Bocconi Graduate School
will offer nine 2-year Master of Science programs
taught entirely in English. A variety of MSc
programs taught in Italian are also open
to international students.
Choosing a Bocconi Master of Science degree
is a smart move for at least five reasons:
• you can benefit from a complete learning
experience
• you can study at a university placed highly
on international rankings
• you can take advantage of our preferential
relations with top employers worldwide
• you can apply for one of the international
opportunities offered by our network
of partner schools
• you can spend time in Milan, the Italian
capital of finance, fashion and design
and host of the Expo 2015
Two Years That Are Worth Your While
A Bocconi Master of Science is a unique and complete expe-
rience. The quality of our programs stems from a flexible
study plan that allows you to build a solid grounding in all
the program’s central topics and then develop your own abil-
ities by choosing from a large selection of elective courses or
major tracks.
The two-year format provides the opportunity to study and
work in at least two countries, spending time abroad by tak-
ing part in one of the many opportunities offered and to com-
plete one or more internships, in Italy or abroad. A distin-
guished international faculty and interaction with your high-
ly-qualified classmates create a stimulating environment that
is a key added value of the Bocconi educational experience.
Finally, upon completing a MSc program, our graduates are
proficient in at least 3 languages, which include their native
language, English and one or two foreign languages: more

Culture, Shopping and Expo 2015
Bocconi lies in the heart of Milan, a cosmopolitan, modern
city which is a gateway to Europe and close to a multitude
of other interesting Italian cities and attractions.
In 2014, Milan was ranked 2nd in the QS Best Student Cities
for Employer Activity Ranking. In fact, it is the main financial,
industrial and commercial center of Italy, also known
as “The Fashion Capital of the World” and home to Italy’s
biggest banks and insurers, as well as the Italian Stock
Exchange. The city offers a rich and diverse entrepreneurial
sector, being home to almost 3,000 international companies
that offer an ideal starting point for any international career.
Milan is getting ready to host Expo 2015, a non-commercial
Universal Exposition around the theme of “Feeding
the Planet, Energy for Life,” open from May to October
2015. Bocconi will be involved with events, meetings and stu-
dent competitions dedicated to the subjects of the Expo.

International
Management
The program is unique in its structure,
and its architecture reflects two design criteria.
The first is to focus on key content and process
issues, such as the strategy and organization of companies
in international contexts, which give our students the ability
to analyze global business situations. The second
is to focus on specific techniques, such as quantitative
methods applied to global contexts, which give our students
the confidence to support their arguments with pertinent
quantitative analyses. Our program’s excellence is
corroborated by its placement at 12th worldwide in
the FT Masters in Management ranking 2014.
Fabrizio Perretti Program Director
“
”
Program Overview
The International Management program
addresses management issues faced by
multinational companies in creating
and exploiting their global presence. Our students
will learn the management concepts and tools
required to operate in the global environment.
Thanks to the social skills acquired through
extensive study work in multicultural teams,
graduates from this program are highly attractive
to international firms, both Italian companies
operating in other countries and large
multinational corporations.
The program does not offer suggested majors,
but students can define their specialization
by integrating study abroad programs or
international internships. Moreover, they can
apply for special programs such as CEMS MIM
and China MIM.

Special Programs
International Management students also have the unique op-
portunity to apply to two special study programs: CEMS
MIM or China MIM, in partnership with Fudan University
in Shanghai. Students choosing to join one of these programs
will obtain two MSc degrees by studying at two prestigious
universities. Admission to both programs takes place at the
same time as admission to the MSc.
CEMS MIM
• It is a global program (29 partner universities and over 60
companies) of which Bocconi is a founding member and
the only Italian partner university
• It has been jointly designed by the universities and corpo-
rate partners that make up the CEMS network
• It provides a select group of high profile, internationally-
minded and multilingual top students with the know-how
and expertise needed to succeed in the new international
business environment
• Students benefit from a lifelong connection with the
CEMS community, both professionally – with access to
job opportunities and employers – and also as part of a
very active, supportive network around the world
More information at: www.unibocconi.eu/cems
China MIM
• It responds to an increasing demand for talented people who
understand how to do business in both the East and the West
• It provides students with in-depth knowledge and under-
standing of Europe and China from both a business man-
agement and a cultural perspective
• Students develop essential knowledge of the market and
business skills that can be transferred directly to compa-
nies operating in the two markets or companies interested
in internationalizing and creating professionals able to fill
such gaps in the marketplace
• Students engage at an advanced level with the latest aca-
demic research

Bocconi’s tie-ups with the top business
schools in India and abroad assured me
of its reputation. I was amazed at how
international my class was. Working alongside such
smart people from diverse backgrounds really helped
me in understanding different perspectives as well as
cultural norms, a skill which came handy once I started
my full-time job, which required me to work with
people from across the world. I would also credit
my job to the CEMS opportunity: the time
spent at LSE helped me in expanding my
network and in making new friends in London.

The fashion sector has attracted me since

thing about fashion is its forward-looking
nature: I work on collections that will be in stores

Marketing
Management
The best response I could hope for is when
students tell me that the information learned
during our graduate program has made them feel
up to date, up to speed, and generally up to the task, not
just during the first steps in their new jobs, but also later,
e.g. during interactions with other graduates from the best
business schools around the world. In fact, a very important
part of the program is taking part in international
competitions and business games, held mainly
by multinational companies. Our students are regularly
prompted to apply the knowledge they acquire in class
to real-world challenges: defining marketing strategies,
launching new products, creating a new brand.
They work as a team on concrete issues
and practice what they learned. And they often win,
I’m proud to say!
Stefania Borghini Program Director
“
”
Program Overview
Marketing has become a major driver of both
performance within organizations and
organizational decisions. The program allows
students to develop a wide range of professional
know-how in the area of marketing management,
thanks to a unique combination of course
contents. In fact, it integrates an advanced
preparation in essential marketing tools and fields
such as quantitative methods, legal issues
and digital marketing strategies with highly
innovative approaches and competencies from
different academic fields such as neuroscience
or anthropological studies and their impact
on marketing-related fields such as consumer
behavior.
This Master of Science prepares graduates to
succeed in a rapidly changing globalized
business world, giving them the necessary
knowledge and skills that enable them not only
to react but to proactively shape the marketing
of the future.

Accounting,
Financial Management
and Control
A Chief Financial Officer must manage three
areas: accounting and financial statements,
corporate finance, and planning and management
control. Firms are complex institutions that operate
in a wider context. Technical knowledge must therefore
be integrated with the ability to read and interpret the
business world and its specifics. To this end we provide
knowledge of economics, law, financial markets and financial
institutions, corporate governance and management, all
while working within an international setting. The program’s
teaching approach aims to create professional workers,
providing more than just specialized knowledge
and ideas, which are fundamental, but also the
know-how required for the workplace.
Angelo Ditillo Program Director
“
Program Overview
The courses in this program have the objective
of developing solid technical knowledge
and methodologies for the accounting and
financial professions. Teaching activities aim
to facilitate interpretation of the economic
and social environment. This MSc places
particular emphasis on the processes of financial
communication within and outside the firm,
the design of modern management information
systems for planning and control, and the use
of models and methodologies for financial
analysis to support strategies aimed at generating
value in the long run.

Career Options
The main career path, though not the only one, is that of
Chief Financial Officer in manufacturing, commercial and
service firms as well as in financial institutions. More specif-
ically, the main entrance areas include roles such as manage-
ment accountants and controllers in various kinds of firms
and activities related to accounting, corporate finance and
control in management consulting firms, auditing compa-
nies and other consulting organizations that support cus-
tomers in designing accounting information systems and in
managing extraordinary operations such as mergers and ac-

The real strength of this Master of Science
lies in its being cross-disciplinary:
it combines accounting topics with corporate
finance topics with controlling topics. I was hired
abroad at an investment bank even before completing
my degree program. I’m currently working in
M&A transactions, and combining accounting
and corporate finance is key in this area.

Finance
An attractive and competitive market such
as that of the financial sector requires outstanding
abilities, talent and skills to be successful.
A potential applicant to a MSc in Finance should not be
deterred by the challenges posed by an intense and therefore
demanding and well-designed program, but should rather
avoid curricula that may provide him or her with insufficient
tools to be successful on the job market. We think
the flexibility in mastering multiple areas combined
with technical skills in one field is the competitive
advantage that our program can offer when compared
to one-year specialized master programs abroad.
Massimo Guidolin Program Director
“
Program Overview
The Finance program aims to develop
the knowledge and skills required to enter
the “big world of finance” and to become
a successful first-class specialist or consultant.
The program offers challenging courses in all
the key areas of finance, from investment banking,
corporate finance and advisory to quantitative
finance, risk management, derivatives and asset
pricing. These foundations enable second-year
students to choose from among a large number
of specialized, technical elective courses
to complete a major in their desired field. This
selective program has a great reputation among
professionals in major investment banks, who
regularly come to Bocconi for presentations,
recruiting events and guest lectures; it was also
one of the first five graduate programs worldwide
to be recognized as a CFA Program Partner
by the CFA Institute, the world’s most important
association of investment professionals.

Upon completion of my Bachelor degree,
I decided to enroll to the Master of Science
in Finance at Bocconi. This choice was
firstly driven by the program’s content, which blends
strong theoretical teachings with very practical
considerations. For instance, many professionals
participate actively in the curriculum, by giving
lectures on a regular basis. The curricular
internship constitutes a key aspect of the program.
I joined The BCG over the summer at the end of
my first year which then led to an offer,
enabling me to come back on a full-time basis
one year later.

Program Overview
This Master of Science program relies on three
main assets: Bocconi’s international reputation
for research and teaching in economics,
management and law; Milan, with its economic
vitality and vibrant creativity; and Italy, with its
artistic and cultural tradition. These elements
represent the ideal setting for preparing students
to build an international career as managers
or entrepreneurs in fields commonly referred
to as the creative industries, including the visual
arts, the performing arts, cinema, the media,
publishing, entertainment, tourism, fashion,
design and luxury. The program aims to train
entrepreneurs, managers (both in the private
and public sectors) and professionals able
to integrate the use of economic and management
techniques and tools with the understanding
of the specific dynamics and complexities
of the creative industries.

Program Overview
Government at any level, from local to global,
is essential for the development of society.
It is among the most complex current professional
settings, owing to the variety of activities
and sectors, their interdependencies as well
as the interplay between politics, policy
and management. This degree program aims
to provide candidates with the hard and soft
skills they need to successfully lead and work in
this environment. The program is organized into
two main learning blocks. First, students
are equipped to carry out policy analysis
and evaluation through advanced analytical
techniques, to design strategies and to manage
projects. Second, they are supported
in developing their unique professional profile
through a careful selection of electives, a related
internship program and thesis and by offering
a variety of opportunities to study abroad.
Majors have been designed to meet the specific
interests of students and the needs expressed
by the job market.

Economic
and Social Sciences
This Master of Science is rooted in the tradition
of Bocconi, with a unique blend of economics
focusing on quantitative methods such as
mathematics and statistics, and excursions into the broader
field of Social Sciences. Students enroll in this program
with the objective of acquiring knowledge to be able
to pursue an international career. This is facilitated by the
international experience of our Faculty, and by the support
students receive from Bocconi for exchanges and
internships. About one third of our graduates work in
the sector of banking, finance and insurance. About another
third work in other firms or the public sector and
international organizations. The remainder of our
students continue towards a PhD or further
training in academia.

“
Program Overview
This program is wide-ranging and interdisciplinary.
It offers a thorough grounding in the field
of economics and provides broad skills and solid
foundations through a unique combination

In particular, graduates develop the ability
to interpret the economic and social processes
that are typical of societies at all stages of
development. These interdisciplinary capabilities
are highly valued both by the job market and
by PhD recruiters. Students have the opportunity
to get in touch with top-level researchers and

“
Program Overview
This Master of Science is designed to craft the
problem-solving and management skills needed
to effectively employ technology and innovation.
Students encounter a challenging interdisciplinary
program which blends strategic, managerial,
organizational and economic approaches in order
to analyze innovation and technology, both
at firm and market levels. It is organized around
key issues (e.g. competitiveness, innovation
and internationalization) which are analyzed
by relying on various disciplinary approaches
(e.g. economics, management and law).
We aim to develop the analytical skills required
to understand the dynamics of technology within
and across organizations; the decision-making
abilities to turn technological opportunities
into new ideas; and the problem solving attitude
to make successful innovations out of new ideas.

academic performance.
• Results of the GMAT (or GRE) test: Aptitude test scores
provide a fair and objective way to compare applications.
Bocconi requires only the scores of verbal and quantita-
tive sections of the GMAT or GRE (only applicants who
have selected the MSc in Economics and Social Sciences
[ESS in English, DES in Italian] or the MSc in Economics
and Management of Innovation and Technology [EMIT]
among their choices may submit a GRE score as an alter-
native to the GMAT).
Applications will not be evaluated if any of the 3 above ele-
ments is missing.
Application Process
Step 1: Complete the online application form, selecting your
chosen Master of Science program. You may also select al-
ternative options if you want.
In the options, applicants can specify if they would like to take
part in the selection process for the CEMS MIM or China
MIM programs. More information will be available online.
Applicants selecting one of these options may be interviewed
during the admissions process.
Step 2: Pay the application fee of €100. The application fee
will not be reimbursed if the applicant decides to withdraw
from the admissions application or if the applicant is not
admitted.
Step 3: Upload the required documents by the dates indicated
in the calendar above, by and no later than the chosen dead-
line. The application is considered valid once the applicant
has saved the uploaded documents. Only the official score for
the GMAT (or GRE) will be considered for the admissions
process.

these requirements will be assessed regardless of the admis-
sions method. Language prerequisites must be declared when
submitting an application, and certification must be demon-
strated by June 2015 and delivered to the Admissions Office
by the time of enrollment finalization.
To apply for programs taught in English, no knowledge of
Italian is necessary, but English language knowledge at
least equal to the B2 level of the Council of Europe’s Com-
mon European Framework of Reference for Languages
must be demonstrated.
To apply for programs taught in Italian, Italian language
knowledge at least equal to the B2 level and English lan-

Upon admission, applicants must confirm enrollment in the
first year of the program by the date indicated on the admis-
sions results webpage.
To confirm admission to the program, the following must be
completed:
• complete and sign the online enrollment form, available on
the Bocconi website

tion, remember that the Confirmation Letter issued by Uni-
versità Bocconi (which can be downloaded through the en-
rollment form) must be submitted along with the admissions
results in order to obtain a visa. We advise students to apply
for a multiple-entry Schengen visa, if possible. For detailed
information, see www.esteri.it/visti/index_eng.asp

FINANCIAL AID
AND HOUSING
Cutting-edge teaching and services are offered to students of
the same caliber and quality: Bocconi welcomes motivated
and bright students, regardless of their families’ financial sit-
uation. It has been committed to an investment policy sup-
porting deserving students for several years, through an ex-
panding financial aid system based on both merit and need.
Varying rates of tuition and fees, scholarships, exemptions
and partial waivers, Merit Awards, grants for international
mobility, graduation awards and access to student loans all
provide a large number of Bocconi students with the peace of
mind regarding the financial resources they need to complete
their studies.
To facilitate student applications and to allow families to
evaluate the actual financial commitment needed to attend a
Master of Science at Bocconi before enrollment, the admis-
sions application and any financial aid applications have the
same deadlines and timeframes and must be submitted at the
same time. Information about both admission to Bocconi and
any financial aid that has been awarded will therefore also be
communicated at the same time.
University Tuition and Fees
Tuition and fees for Master of Science programs are approx-
imately €12,000 per year. Students have access to a detailed
system of financial aid.

Financial Aid and Scholarships
The financial aid system provided by Università Bocconi in-
cludes financial assistance which varies according to type of
applicant, and which is adjusted to the financial- asset condi-
tions of the student’s family and the academic profile of the
student. The range of possibilities offered, listed below, con-
tains some indicative information for understanding the cri-
teria used when assigning various financial assistance, along
with student profiles for each kind of assistance. An overview
of financial aid opportunities aimed at international students
is included in this publication; detailed information and com-
plete versions of application requirements and regulations are
available on the Bocconi website.
Applications for need-based financial assistance must be sub-
mitted by the same deadline of the applicant’s selected Boc-
coni admissions session. However, all international appli-
cants applying to a Bocconi Master of Science program will
be evaluated for merit-based financial aid; a formal applica-
tion is not required. Any allocation of assistance will be com-
municated soon after admissions results are announced and,
in any case, before the enrollment deadlines, so that all stu-
dents can evaluate the actual financial commitment needed to
attend university before enrollment.

  • 4. 3 Welcome! Università Bocconi has always been widely acknowl- edged for the quality of the students graduating from its Master of Science programs; 10 of these 2-year programs are offered by the Graduate School, in ad- dition to a range of shorter Specialized Master pro- grams. In the competitive job arena awaiting Master graduates, our 2-year MSc programs have proven to be an effective gateway for international careers. I would like to point out a few of the distinctive fea- tures that will make your Master of Science a valuable experience, both on our campus in Milan and for your future. Academic Quality The quality of our programs depends first of all on the quality of our Faculty. Bocconi continuously invests in attracting talented faculty members who contribute to improving our reputation both in teaching and in re- search, allowing our students to get in touch with the most up-to-date knowledge in each field. Strong Relationships with Top Employers Thanks to the careful combination of a strong theoreti- cal background and an emphasis on relevant real-world applications, our programs and our graduates are high- ly regarded by top international recruiters. Internationalization Students have the chance to study and interact with classmates from many different countries. We also of- fer a large number of opportunities for one-semester exchange programs or for Double Degrees with top in- stitutions within and outside Europe. These opportu- nities to acquire greater international exposure form an important advantage of a 2-year program with respect to the standard 1-year format. Tailor-Made Specialization Paths Our programs will provide you with the chance to de- velop solid knowledge in all the core topics during your first year, while choosing from among a wide list of elective courses during the second year. This will give you a lot of flexibility to design a study plan with a spe- cific focus that is aligned with your interests, and to delve more deeply into it. A Top Alumni Network with High-Quality Peers Relationships with peers, faculty members and other contacts represent crucial added value to your universi- ty experience. Our Alumni Association, which is well established and steadily growing across scores of coun- tries, will be the natural way to keep in touch with peers and with the University throughout your future career. Dean, Graduate School
  • 5. 4 CHOOSING A BOCCONI MASTER OF SCIENCE In 2015-2016, the Bocconi Graduate School will offer nine 2-year Master of Science programs taught entirely in English. A variety of MSc programs taught in Italian are also open to international students. Choosing a Bocconi Master of Science degree is a smart move for at least five reasons: • you can benefit from a complete learning experience • you can study at a university placed highly on international rankings • you can take advantage of our preferential relations with top employers worldwide • you can apply for one of the international opportunities offered by our network of partner schools • you can spend time in Milan, the Italian capital of finance, fashion and design and host of the Expo 2015 Two Years That Are Worth Your While A Bocconi Master of Science is a unique and complete expe- rience. The quality of our programs stems from a flexible study plan that allows you to build a solid grounding in all the program’s central topics and then develop your own abil- ities by choosing from a large selection of elective courses or major tracks. The two-year format provides the opportunity to study and work in at least two countries, spending time abroad by tak- ing part in one of the many opportunities offered and to com- plete one or more internships, in Italy or abroad. A distin- guished international faculty and interaction with your high- ly-qualified classmates create a stimulating environment that is a key added value of the Bocconi educational experience. Finally, upon completing a MSc program, our graduates are proficient in at least 3 languages, which include their native language, English and one or two foreign languages: more information is available at www.unibocconi.eu/language- center FIRST YEAR SECOND YEAR summer Elective Courses or Double Degree 2 Language Courses ThesisInternship Internship or Similar Activities Core Courses
  • 6. A World Class Education Università Bocconi is included in a number of rankings, mainly those that focus on the areas of economics and man- agement, and social sciences in general. Our position im- proves each year, with a recent and significant increase in the Masters in Finance ranking in particular. The Established Reputation of Our Graduates Based on the quality of our programs, Bocconi graduates have a strong standing with top employers. Thanks to a worldwide network of over 650 companies, international organizations, chambers of commerce and institutions in 70 countries, every year about 1200 students and recent graduates have the op- portunity to take part in an internship abroad. • 10. International Management The program is unique in its structure, and its architecture reflects two design criteria. The first is to focus on key content and process issues, such as the strategy and organization of companies in international contexts, which give our students the ability to analyze global business situations. The second is to focus on specific techniques, such as quantitative methods applied to global contexts, which give our students the confidence to support their arguments with pertinent quantitative analyses. • 16. Marketing Management The best response I could hope for is when students tell me that the information learned during our graduate program has made them feel up to date, up to speed, and generally up to the task, not just during the first steps in their new jobs, but also later, e.g. during interactions with other graduates from the best business schools around the world. In fact, a very important part of the program is taking part in international competitions and business games, held mainly by multinational companies. Our students are regularly prompted to apply the knowledge they acquire in class to real-world challenges: defining marketing strategies, launching new products, creating a new brand. They work as a team on concrete issues and practice what they learned. And they often win, I’m proud to say! Stefania Borghini Program Director “ ” Program Overview Marketing has become a major driver of both performance within organizations and organizational decisions. The program allows students to develop a wide range of professional know-how in the area of marketing management, thanks to a unique combination of course contents. Angelo Ditillo Program Director “ Program Overview The courses in this program have the objective of developing solid technical knowledge and methodologies for the accounting and financial professions. Teaching activities aim to facilitate interpretation of the economic and social environment. • 22. Finance An attractive and competitive market such as that of the financial sector requires outstanding abilities, talent and skills to be successful. A potential applicant to a MSc in Finance should not be deterred by the challenges posed by an intense and therefore demanding and well-designed program, but should rather avoid curricula that may provide him or her with insufficient tools to be successful on the job market. We think the flexibility in mastering multiple areas combined with technical skills in one field is the competitive advantage that our program can offer when compared to one-year specialized master programs abroad. Massimo Guidolin Program Director “ Program Overview The Finance program aims to develop the knowledge and skills required to enter the “big world of finance” and to become a successful first-class specialist or consultant. The program offers challenging courses in all the key areas of finance, from investment banking, corporate finance and advisory to quantitative finance, risk management, derivatives and asset pricing. These foundations enable second-year students to choose from among a large number of specialized, technical elective courses to complete a major in their desired field. This selective program has a great reputation among professionals in major investment banks, who regularly come to Bocconi for presentations, recruiting events and guest lectures; it was also one of the first five graduate programs worldwide to be recognized as a CFA Program Partner by the CFA Institute, the world’s most important association of investment professionals.
