How to grinding pcd tool
1. How to grinding PCD tool?
Industrial developed countries on PCD tool research earlier, its application has been more
mature. Since the synthetic diamond was first synthesized in Sweden in 1953, a great deal of
achievements has been made in the research on the cutting performance of PCD tools. At
present, the world's leading manufacturers of synthetic diamond composites mainly include
DeBeers of the United Kingdom, GE of the United States and sumitomo electric of Japan. In
the 1970s, polycrystalline diamond (PCD) was synthesized by high pressure synthesis
technology, which solved the problem of rare and expensive natural diamond and extended
the application scope of diamond tools to aviation, aerospace, automobile, electronics, stone
and other fields. With the rapid development of manufacturing in China in the past decade,
the demand for ultra-hard cutting tools in automobile industry and 3C industry has increased
rapidly. Domestic production and quality of PCD tools have achieved a takeoff, leading the
world PCD tool market.
The high hardness of PCD makes its material removal rate very low (even the removal rate of
hard alloy is only 1/10000). At present, PCD tool grinding process mainly USES vitrified bond
diamond grinding wheel for grinding. Because of the interaction between grinding materials
with similar hardness and PCD, the grinding law is relatively complex. For grinding wheels
with high particle size and low rotating speed, using water-soluble coolant can improve PCD
grinding efficiency and grinding accuracy. The choice of grinding wheel binder depends on
the type of grinding machine and processing conditions.
PCD cutting tools according to the material of PCD compact and welding allowance, grinding
mode is also different, according to different processing industry, the direction of PCD cutting
tool is divided into car PCD cutting tools and 3c direction of PCD cutting tool, the two
direction of PCD cutting tool grinding mode is also different, mainly in the direction shown
by the processing industry under the way of grinding.
2. The higher the speed of the grinding wheel, the harder the grinding wheel, the lower the
sharpness, the better the quality of the grinding edge. But cannot be considered the pursuit
of speed.
