– Price of printed and electronic journals have
been increasing dramatically in the past 10
years
• Outcome
– Keio University doesn’t have enough budget
to supply it’s users with 4,800 health sciences
journals for research
– As one of the prestigious universities in Japan,
we would like to subscribe to all of these
journals

• Fact
– There are restrictions on the number of
organizations and the number of users
according to the EJ contracts
• Outcome
– We find this difficult and inconvenient since
there is a lot of collaborative research
participated by researchers from other
institutions and medical practitioners
