CURRICULUM STATEMENT
Through performing activities, observing activities, participating in
group discussion, receiving teacher scaffolding the learner construct
knowledge about the concept.
CONTENT ANALYSIS
A. Scientific terms: Density
B. Facts: Kerosene has lower density than that of water.
C. Concept: Liquid with higher density is found at the bottom of
separating funnel. So it can be separated first.
LEARNING OUT COME:
2. A. Cognitive competencies: The learner become able to
-recall the concept.
-defines the major concept
-explain the process of separation
-identifies the different examples.
-uses the acquired concept in daily life.
B. Affective competencies:
-shows willingness to know more about the concept
-shows ideas and views related to these concept.
-develop positive attitude toward certain phenomena.
-realize the importance of concept
C. Technological competencies:
-searches internet for more examples.
-watch video.
PRE REQUISITES
a. Cognitive domain: knowledge about various nature of concept
b. Affective domain: Interest to participate in activities and to know
more about concept.
c. Psychomotor domain: Skill to do activities.
TEACHING LEARNING MATERIALS
3. Kerosene, water, chalk, separating funnel.
CLASSROOM INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURE
INTRODUCTION
Teacher starts the class by telling
an interesting story.
Ramu’s mother was pouring
coconut oil to a bottle from a
vessel. Accidently some drops of
oil fall into a bucket of water
placed there. She becomes sad in
losing the oil.
Teacher ask students, is there any
way to help that mother for
separating the oil from water.
Teacher motivates the students to
think about it.
PRESENTATION
Activity
Teacher takes a separating funnel
and placed. Teacher calls two
students and give them some
kerosene and water. And ask them
to shake well and pour it into the
separating funnel. Allow it to stand
for some time without disturbing.
Discussion point
RESPONSE
Students share their ideas and
views.
Students participating in activity.
4. -what can you see in the funnel?
-which liquid is found at the
bottom?
- Which liquid is found at the top?
CONCEPT FORMATION
From the above activity, students
attain the concept that a mixture
of two immiscible liquids can be
separated by using a separating
funnel.
Activity
Teacher divides the students into
group and provides a worksheet
for them.
WORKSHEET
Density of coconut oil –
Density of water-
-which liquid found at the top of
the funnel?
-which liquid found at the bottom
of the funnel?
-Is there any relation between
position of liquid and density of
liquid?
CONCEPT FORMATION
Students discussed in group
Students learn the concept
Students completed the discussion
5. From the above activity students
attain the concept that liquid with
higher density is found at the
bottom of separating funnel. So it
can be separating out firstly.
KNOWLEDGE CONSTRUCTION
Learner constructs the
knowledge about the concept
separation of immiscible
liquids.
SUMMARISATION
Teacher summarizes the concept
discussed in the class.
RIVIEW
To strengthen the concept,
teacher ask the following
questions
-How a mixture of two
immiscible liquid can be
separated out?
-What component can be
separated firstly-liquid with
higher density or lower
density?
Students learn the concept
Students construct the knowledge
about concept
Students summarize the concept
discussed in class.
Students answered the questions.
6. EXTENDED ACTIVITY
Teacher asks them to list out other
mixture which can be separated
using a separating funnel.
Students noted in note book.
