Electric Field Lab
Individual Report: Electric Field MappingAndie Zoeller 09/09/2014 Essence: The objective of this lab was to map out certain points of voltage that
were determined by the equipotential surfaces. By doing this, with the probe on a multi–meter, we were able to see where the equipotential lines were
at in accordance to the objects (metal cylindrical conductor, metal rectangular conductor, etc.) With this gathered information we were able to point
out where the lines of the electric field were. We were able to do this because even though the electric field lines are not physically visible, we know
that the lines of an electric field are perpendicular to the lines of an equipotential surface. Analysis: During this qualitative lab,... Show more content on

With these two objects, we were able to see that the highest voltage was on the outside of the large ring and the voltage inside the small cylinder was
0. Also, the equipotential surface lines in this experiment appeared to be curved concentric to both the small cylinder and the large ring. This means
that the electric field lines pointed from the larger ring towards the middle of the small cylindrical ring. –For the second experiment, we used two small
cylindrical, metal conductors and these produced equipotential surface lines that, when the cylinders were placed horizontally across the paper, ran
vertically and curved around the edges of the cylinders once we measured very close to the actual objects. An error that occurred during this lab was
during this experiment. We placed the cylinders at opposite ends of the paper, when we should have placed them much closer together. Though the
equipotential lines still appeared as they should have, it may have been more accurate if they were closer together. –For the third experiment, we used
two conductive metal rectangles. This experiment produced a result that was similar to the last experiment, vertical equipotential surface lines and
horizontal from one rectangle to the other, electric field

Penalty Shots in Soccer and Field Hockey
Why it is easier to score a soccer penalty shot than a field hockey penalty stroke

INTRODUCTION
Soccer and field hockey are two of the most widely played field sports in the world. Both sports involve a team of players moving a ball around a
field, and attempting to score in their opposing team's goal. At certain points in the game, if the opposing team has infringed upon certain rules,
soccer players may take a "penalty shot' and hockey players a "penalty stroke." The penalty shot (soccer) involves the player kicking the ball from
11m in front of the goal's centre, and attempting to get it past the goalie, who is the one player allowed to defend against the shot. A penalty stroke
(hockey) is essentially the same as a penalty shot, but the player stands 6.4 metres from the goal centre, and they hit the ball using a stick. It is
believed that it is easier to score a penalty shot in soccer than a penalty stroke in hockey, for the reasons outlined below.
DISCUSSION
Ball Speed and Goalkeeper reaction time/s:
The average reaction time of a goalie has been previously investigated by Taskin et al., and found to be 225.59 milliseconds (2016). Secondary data for
average ball speeds for field hockey and soccer were located, and a calculation revealed the amount of time that goalies would have to act in if they
react from when the ball is hit (see journal pages 5 & 6). These figures would suggest that it would be easier for a goalie to block the ball, but given
that the goalie must move much further to protect the ends of the goal area, it is, in fact, harder to score past the hockey goalkeeper than the soccer one.
Goal Coverage:
It has been calculated that the ratio of the percentage of the goal covered by the goalie to the percentage of the goal covered by the ball was, for
soccer, 82.14:1, and for hockey it was 827:1 (see journal pages 3–5). If you are on the attacking team (the team that is attempting the shot), you want
this ratio to be small, as it allows the ball more area to move in that the goalie cannot cover standing still. As such, it is evidence that it is easier to
score a soccer penalty shot than a hockey penalty

Maglev: Magnetic Fields
.INTRODUCTION
Magnetic levitation is the latest in transportation technology and has been the interest of many countries around the world. The idea has been around
since 1904 when Robert Goddard, an American Rocket scientist, created a theory that trains could be lifted off the tracks by the use of electromagnetic
rails. Many assumptions and ideas were brought about throughout the following years, but it was not until the 1970's that Japan and Germany showed
interest in it and began researching and designing. The motion of the Maglev train is based purely on magnetism and magnetic fields. This magnetic
field is produced by using high–powered electromagnets. By using magnetic fields, the Maglev train can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"AN ALTERNATING CURRENT IS THEN PRODUCED, FROM THE LARGE POWER SOURCE, AND PASSES THROUGH THE GUIDEWAY,
CREATING AN ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD WHICH TRAVELS DOWN THE RAILS". AS DEFINED BY THE ENCARTA ONLINE
DICTIONARY, AN ALTERNATING CURRENT IS "A CURRENT THAT REVERSES DIRECTION." THE STRENGTH OF THIS CURRENT CAN
BE MADE MUCH GREATER THAN THE NORMAL STRENGTH OF AMAGNET BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF WINDS IN THE
COILS. THE CURRENT IN THE GUIDEWAY MUST BE ALTERNATING SO THE POLARITY IN THE MAGNETIZED COILS CAN CHANGE.
THE ALTERNATING CURRENT ALLOWS A PULL FROM THE MAGNETIC FIELD IN FRONT OF THE TRAIN, AND A PUSH FROM THE
MAGNETIC FIELD BEHIND THE TRAIN. THIS PUSH AND PULL MOTION WORK TOGETHER ALLOWING THE TRAIN TO REACH
MAXIMUM VELOCITIES WELL OVER 300 MILES PER HOUR. [pic] FIGURE[3] PROPULSION SYSTEM IN EDS
This propulsion is unique in that the current is able to be turned on and off quickly. Therefore, at one instance there can be a positive charge running
through a section of the track, and within a second it could have a neutral charge. This is the basic principle behind slowing the vehicle down and
breaking it. The current through the guiderails is reversed causing the train to slow, and eventually to competely stop. Additionally, by reversing the
current, the train would go in the reverse direction. This

Field Recording History
One of numerous terms imperative to the scope of this document is field recording. A literal interpretation (i.e., to record in a field) falls short of what
is encompassed. In contrast to the type of recording with which many musicians may be familiar, within a highly controlled space exhibiting minimal
extraneous sound, field recording is audio recording conducted outside a recording studio. This comes without exception, acquiring sounds produced
by life, nature, or anything else present. Noted field recordist and ecologist Bernie Krause (b. 1938) categorized the diverse sounds one may record
into three categories. Geophony refers to non–biological sounds produced by the earth (e.g., wind, water). Sounds made by the species of the recorded
area are classified as biophony, while human generated sounds of any kind are referred to as anthrophony.
Field recording, recording ostensibly in "the field" in contrast to the studio, provides discernible explanation. That said, one may frequently find
phonography used to describe the same activity. Phonography, quite literally "sound–writing", purposefully alludes to ... Show more content on

Moving into the 20th Century, Darius Milhaud, Paul Hindemith, and other composers offered composed manipulation of recorded sounds,
experimenting with variable–speed phonographs in the 1920s. Additionally, ethnomusicologists including Hugh Tracy and Kurosawa Takatomo utilized
extensive field recordings for archival. Modern field recording finds an array of uses, including documentation, research, artistic, and otherwise. The
degree to which these recordings are altered varies among artists, with those that fully delve in phonography exhibiting little tangible transformation of
the acquired material. Some example of this will be illustrated later in discussing soundscape

Brief History Of Field Hockey
Introduction: A Brief History
Field hockey's origins can be traced back 4000 years to ancient Egypt, Greece and Persia, although the game, as we have all come to know it, was
developed in Britain in the late 19th century (Longstreth, 2014) . It is said to be the oldest team sport in history (Girasole, 2010) . Field Hockey's
original name was the "ball and stick" game. Hockey was initially played with a cube, instead of the ball we use today. Hockey was initially
considered to be too dangerous for women, but it became socially accepted when women were allowed to play sports such as lawn tennis and
croquette (Girasole, 2010). The first Women's field hockey team was formed in 1887 in England. Hockey made its debut in the Olympics in 1908 and
thus the International Hockey Federation was assembled (Girasole, 2010). Today, field hockey is the second largest team sport in the world, played in
over 100 countries (McBryde, 2013).

These different responses can be a result of genetics, body size and shape, chronic conditions, past experience, injuries, gender and so forth. For
example, the training program for a women's hockey team will be different to the training program for a men's hockey team. This would be due to
factors such as men having higher testosterone levels, allowing them to build muscle mass faster, and men having lower flexibility, the men would
thus have to do more flexibility exercises in order to abstain from injury. Another example would be that the links would have a different training
program to the goalkeeper. The links would have a greater emphasis on fitness and speed, while the goalkeeper would have more of an emphasis on
flexibility and skill, although fitness would also be a large aspect. It is imperative that a goalkeeper knows how to save a goal and is able to do so
without injuring

A Experiment On Magnetic Field
Theory A magnetic field is an area in which there is an electrical charge where a magnetic force acts. A magnetic field can be induced in a circular
loop and it can be calculated if the radius, current, and number of turns are all known. When in the form of a coil it is directed along the axis of the
coil and is usually uniform throughout the coil until it begins to fall off when it gets further away from the center. Another characteristic ofmagnetic
field is that it can be changed to induce a voltage. That induced voltage is known as the magnetic flux and it can be calculated by knowing the area of
the coil and the value of the magnetic field going through the coil.
Experimental Procedure This experiment was broken up into four different parts. It began by verifying the connections and understanding the direction
of the sensor. The next section measured the field versus the current and the purpose of this was to find the value of the vacuum magnetic constant Ој0
by using the measured magnetic field and the current of the coil. In the following portion of the experiment the purpose was to measure the rate at
which the magnetic field drops off as the sensor is moved away from the cell. The final part of the experiment had one use a magnet to change the
field of the coil so that a voltage could be induced and measured.
Results
The experiment began by connecting the magnetic field sensor to the universal lab interface and setting it to 6.4mT. Once the field was set up a

The Physics Of Magnetic Field
When a wire with current flowing through it, is placed in a magnetic field a force is placed on the wire: this is the motor principle and this is the
principle behind the loud speaker. Hello, My name is Michael Trevorrow and you will be learning about the loud speaker and electromagnetism.
But first, if you want to understand the loud speaker you have to understand electromagnetism. Well electromagnetism is simply 'the phenomenon of
the interaction of electric currents or fields and magnetic fields'. This will become clearer later. All right the loud speaker we all know what they
look like, but we don't know how they work. When things shake or vibrate, they produce a sound. If a coil is wrapped around a magnet, the coil now
becomes an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The formula for a solenoid is B=u0nl, where n is the number of coils and I is the current. Being able to show the strength, will show the loudness
because the current flow alters the frequency and altering the current flow will make the solenoid field larger.
Coils and changing direction
A conductor, copper, is tightly wrapped around a magnet to make amagnetic field. But how does this create sound? The coil has a current flowing
through it the coil moves and the polar orientation reverses. When this is reversed it allows the magnetic forces between the coil and this allows the
coil to move up and down the magnet, which creates sound. The magnetic field can be increased by putting more coils around the magnetic which
leads to larger sound.
Current
Current is the driving force which causes the diaphragm acceleration. Current is a flow of electricity which results from the ordered directional
movement of electrically charged particles. In simple terms current is the flow of electricity throughout the coil. Current is how we can change the
frequency or sound pitch of the speaker, by altering voltage it will change the current. Now we know what happens inside a speaker, lets have a look at
the magnets involved. Electromagnet (coil

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Magnetic Field
Magnetic field is the spaces in which kinetic and electrically charged particles are under influence of power and is formed following that electrons
revolve around the nucleus and themselves. Magnetic field is a phenomenon which cannot be directly seen or easily felt, however its results can be
seen and felt. Today, with the development of technology its measurement via devices has become possible. All substances are of magnetic fields,
either living or non–living, weak or strong. Like every substance, there is a magnetic field of human beings, too. People are under the influence of their
magnetic fields as well as the magnetic field of their surroundings naturally. Besides its advantages, this magnetic field might have disadvantages with

They occur in connection with use of electric power, electronic surveillance systems and various types of wireless communications. While these fields
differ with respect to strengths and physical characteristics, they all give rise to concern among those exposed about the possibility of health risks. It is
well established that strong fields can give rise to acute health effects, such as burns, but exposure guidelines and regulations protect effectively against
such effects. Current concerns are instead directed towards the possibility that long–term exposure to weak fields might have detrimental health effects
due to some, to date unknown, biological mechanism. Due to the widespread use of these techniques and the very prevalent exposure to some of the
types of field involved, even a weak association with disease risk could have strong impacts on public health. Although the likelihood of such a
scenario is debatable, it is the opinion of many that close monitoring of health risks among exposed subjects is a high priority. Indeed, extensive
research is ongoing and has been so for several years. A report linking childhood cancer mortality to the presence of power lines in the near proximity
to the children's homes about 25 years ago spurred the interest in power frequency fields1 . This interest has remained high ever since, although it has
gradually shifted towards other types of field, and in particular towards those used in connection with telecommunications. The objective of this paper
is to discuss the evidence pertaining to the possibility that long–term exposure to weak fields of the types discussed above may be associated with health

A Brief Look at Field Hockey
There are hundreds of sports that are played all around the world; they are played outdoors, indoors, and even underwater. One of these sports is
hockey; hockey is played in a few ways, street, floor, ice, and field. Although not widely televised, field hockey is popular in Canada, the United
States, Eastern Europe and regions where ice–hockey is most popular. It is played in about 112 countries and is known to be one of the top six athletic
teams in the world. Though the origin of field hockey is unknown, drawings about 4,000 years old have depicted men playing a like version of
hockey in the Beni Hasan Tombs of Egypt. Field hockey is believed to be around for about 4,000 years; after periods of time, hockey evolved to
how it is played today. In the middle ages, hockey was very popular all around Europe, it was played in different ways and each region had a
different name for it. There were many people who were a fan of the sport, but there were also people who hated it. In the 1300's King Edward III
of England passed a proclamation to ban the playing of hockey along with a few other intense sports. In addition to the banning of the sport, women
weren't always allowed to play field hockey, it was considered too intense and dangerous for women to handle until the late 1800's when it was first
introduced to British Universities. In the early 1900's a physical education teacher by the name of Constance M.K. Applebee introduced field hockey to
the United States. Field Hockey

The Field Of A Medical Office Administration
The field of study I am particularly interested in is Medical Office Administration. Based on my own research this job involves sitting for long
periods of time, requires extensive knowledge of computers and the ability of multitasking. The roles of this job include effectively managing an
office. They work in a variety of fields ranging from a physician's office to a rest home facility. There are particular skills needed to do well in this,
which include being well–organized, good communication skills, and an understanding of medical terms. This job is more suitable to people who
work well with computer technology. In addition, someone who is able to pay attention to details would succeed in this field. I am interested in this field
based on the heavy use with computers and the fact that there is a variety of job options out there. In the Medical Office Administration field, these
types of jobs will be in higher demand as the population continues to grow.
With this particular job, daily duties will include answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, organizing medical records, processing insurance
forms, etc. Also someone in this field could have bookkeeping tasks or use spreadsheets. It is necessary to have throughough knowledge of Microsoft
Word, Excel, and also PowerPoint to effectively complete these duties. If any doctor or other health official needs something done, it is an
Administrator's job to effectively complete that. Primarily since most of an

When Britain declared war in 1917 and joined forces with the Allied powers, Canada followed suit immediately. McCrae had seen first hand the
deadly effects of war and had no illusions of what to expect. McCrae was assigned to be surgeon to the 1st Field Artillery Brigade. He felt he was one
of the most qualified doctor–soldiers in the country and felt his obligation to the country and to the Empire. McCrae’s greatest test would
come when his Canadian contingent were sent to the Ypres Salient.
Up to this point the Canadians were not regarded as fighting soldiers and were thus given the assignment of occupying this relatively quite sector
of the front. The importance of Ypres would soon be realized when on April 22, 1915 the German line used the first poisonous gas attack in war
against the Canadians and Algerians troops to gain access to the important roads that intersected in Ypres. The Algerian troops fled leaving a gap of
six kilometers along the trench system. Now the German side had the ability to take control of the area. Somehow the gap was filled with the
Canadians who even managed to counterattack, a strategy that came as a complete surprise to the Germans. John McCrae’s post was
near a particularly dangerous section of the road. The Germans had it covered with artillery fire for seventeen days of battle. McCrae would later

The Stem Field Is No Stranger For Advancement And Innovation
The STEM field is no stranger to advancement and innovation. In a thriving age of technology and science, one could argue that the United States
(and many countries throughout the world) have progressed a long way from the outdated technologies that were used in past decades. Yet, despite
the vast progress made in the stem fields, the demographics of STEM workers are still highly outdated with its lack of racial and gender diversity.
As a result of the growing number of jobs in STEM, organizations such as Black Girls Code are making steps to prepare minorities for these careers.
The founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, experienced what she calls "cultural isolation" during her collegiate years and throughout her
career as an electrical engineer. Bryant recalls seeing very few faces like her own and felt that there was a void in the STEM field that needed to be
filled by the presence of black women. Bryant acknowledges that the lack of black females in STEM is not due to a lack of interest in the sciences, but
is instead due to a lack of resources and lack of exposure provided to black girls during early education. She set out to meet this need and, thus, Black
Girls Code was created.
Black Girls Code is an organization focused on increasing the number of black girls in the STEM field. They do so by training black girls, ages 7 to
17, in the field of computer science, also known as coding. "By launching Black Girls Code," stated Bryant, " I hope to provide young and

were added to the bleachers making the capacity a little over 41,000. During the
2007 off–season, the whole field was replaced because Wrigley Field was known
around the Major Leagues to have one of the worst playing surfaces in all of
professional baseball.
In 2009, the Tribune Company sold the Chicago Cubs to the Ricketts' family

What Is The Impact Of Sports Field Infrastructure
Locally, most people think that sport field infrastructure is only about the underdevelopment of sports fields in Kona. However, sports fields
infrastructure is a much bigger problem than that. Sports fields infrastructure impacts many people on the west side of the Big Island. For example the
community of south Kona is impacted deeply through sports fields infrastructure. In WestHawaii, the sports fields' quality is awful, which causes
Kona to perform at a lower level in team, sport activities. High schools are also being affected by sports fields infrastructure. For example, when they

because there's holes in our fields in kona. Some people know what's going on but most don't, that's why we have to inform others about this
problem. Hopefully the county takes care of all of this so our community can accelerate in sports. If kona got more sports fields imagine how good
we would be in sports. To me i feel like hilo has an advantage just because of their fields quality compared to ours. If everyone just put alittle in to
help fix this problem then it would be fixed in the near future. People need to team up to persuade the county into giving Kona more sports fields. "The

I Am A Baseball Field
Everybody has a special place that means so much to them every time the set foot there. My special place just so happens to be a baseball field. It
doesn't necessarily have to be a particular field, it's just that every time I set foot on one I think of all the memories made when playing the game and
of all the friends I have made because of it. I have been playing baseball for practically my entire life and along the way have learned a lot of life
lessons because of it. A few fields that specifically stand out to me are Cooperstown Dreams Park and Wenatchee Valley Collegebaseball field. A
baseball field is very unique. The smell of the fresh cut grass on game day and the feeling of the dirt under your cleats are something only baseball
players can describe. Every time I set foot on the field for a game, it always feels like the first time with the pre–game jitters and adrenaline rush of the
first pitch. Going to a baseball field at any level from little league or to a professional game, I just love to take in all of the excitement and fun while
enjoying every play made because baseball is easily the greatest game ever invented. A baseball field isn't necessarily loud like a football game, but
it is also relaxing to where you can sit and enjoy the weather and enjoy conversing with whoever you are there with all while watching a great game
played by kids or adults. That's the atmosphere that I like, and that's another reason a baseball field is my place of comfort.

controlling the relative phases and intensities of the four spectral channels inside the synthesizer. This tailoring process is automatized to obtain the

we didn't care we were all just happy to be out of there. When I got home my mom and Raul were already home and asked me about how it went.
When they heard about what had happened they just laughed at me and "we told you you'd hate it" they said "ok let's go to Moses we have to get
some stuff" my mom said so there I was again heading to Moses Lake and my parents still joking about how me and my friends got fired on our

Magnetic Field Lab
The purpose of this lab experiment was to study the magnetic field that surrounds a magnet and to see how the strength of the magnetic field change
with distance from a magnet. The experiment was successful in achieving its purpose and in proving the theory of the experiments. In the experiment
that we needed to show the magnetic field surrounding a magnet, we used a piece of paper, a magnet, and a compass to show the magnetic field. To
view the magnetic field that is surrounding the magnet, we placed the magnet in the middle of the paper and placed the compass in the north pole of
the magnet to see where the arrow is pointing, marked that point, and then placing the compass at the point again to see where it would point. We

Magnetic Field Lab
A magnetic field is produced in the region around a wire whenever a current flow through that wire. Magnetic fields are vector fields, they have a
direction and magnitude. The formula for the magnitude of the magnetic field from a wire is B=(Вµ_O I)/2ПЂr. B is the magnetic field, Вµ_O is the
permeability of free space (4ПЂxгЂ–10гЂ—^(–7)Tm/A), I is the current, and r is the distance from the field sensor to the rod. In part 1A and 1B we
constantly turn off the power source and ammeter after each run to eliminate the strongest magnetic field, earth. In graph 1, the best fit is a linear line.
The graph corresponds to the expression of the magnitude of the magnetic field in a current carrying wire when there is a change in current because the

In this graph, the magnetic field (B) is equal to 1/B. As displayed in the graph, 1/B is inversely proportional to the distance from the field sensor to
the rod (R), which allows the graph to correspond to the expression of the magnitude of the magnetic field (B) in a current carrying wire when there is
a change in distance. The current (I) remains constant in this part. Lastly, in part 2 of this lab, we analyzed the magnetic field of themagnet. Magnets
can exert a force at a distance, just like electric charges. Magnetic fields permeate space and are strongest near a permanent magnet (magnetic dipole) or
electromagnet (electric dipole); therefore, the power supply and ammeter were not required in this part. Part 2, consisted of determining the relationship
between the magnetic field strength and the distance from the magnet. The graph 1/B vs. R^3, is the most linear out of the three. This graph
corresponds the best to how we know a change in distance affects the magnetic field strength of a magnetic dipole, because the relatioship between a
magnetic dipole and distance is inversely proportional. As the distance between the rod and the magnet increases, the magnetic field strength

Flanders Fields Poetry Analysis
Poetry is a great way to reflect on events. When discussing War World I, it is hard to imagine how tough things really were. Poems can speak to you
just like songs do. I believe poetry accurately conveys the true horrors from this time. Poems give you a chance to see through the eyes of the poet.
As I was looking through poems from World War I, one really caught my attention. In Flanders Fields by John McRae. This poem is heartfelt and is
filled with powerful meaning that is written from the fallen soldier's point of view. It's about the soldiers who sacrificed themselves during the war.
However, the soldiers want everyone to keep fighting instead of feeling sorrow.
John McRae was a physician and a teacher who served in the First World War. This famous poem was written after his close friend was killed during
the war. According to The Story ofJohn McCrae, he was not the same after the War, he became angry and disillusioned. The fighting and deaths took a
deep toll on his soul. He felt that he should have done more to help during this hard time.
He felt he should have made greater sacrifices, and insisted on living in a tent through the year, like his comrades at the front, rather than in the officers'
huts. When this affected his health in mid–winter he had to be ordered into warmer surroundings. To many he gave the impression that he felt he
should still be with his old artillery brigade. After the battle of Ypres he was never again the optimistic man with the infectious

4 Geologic setting
The delta complex in the Niger Delta developed as arcuate–lobate buildups across the Anambra Basin and Cross River margins protruding to the late
Cretaceous continental margin into the deep ocean while developing a thick sedimentary apron and salient petroleum system elements
(www.indigopool.com).
The opening of the Atlantic ocean and the separation of the African continent from the South American plate lead to the deposition of thick successions
of sedimentary deposits at the continental margin and southwards onto the oceanic crust as it was cooling (Solomon et al 2007).
The Miocene aged reservoirs within the Bonga field reside in a large anticlinal structure about 230Km2 wide where they tend to trend seaward away
from the continent in a south to south–west direction (Fig 3) (Swinburn et al 2002). Fig 3: Geologic setting of the Bonga field modified from

Icarus, By Edward Field Essay
Kylie Slaten Ms. Thompson Ap Literature Period 2 2 November, 2015 Icarus In the poem "Icarus" by Edward Field is alluding to the myth of
Icarus and Daedalus which is set in a contemporary setting. The poem takes a spin on the myth were instead of Icarus drowning, he is set in today
's world as the fall of the great hero, nothing but an ordinary man. It reveals that Icarus cannot handle being just ordinary and "wishes he had
drowned." (line 30). Through imagery, diction and irony Fields uses a contemporary setting to convey the life of Icarus who is living as a man
who once achieved greatness. Edward Fields uses the setting to connect the imagery of the poem which sets the tone and shows how Icarus is
living in a new society. The first stanza describes the tragic death of Icarus. Then the third stanza shows how Icarus is living in his new life. The
first stanza is describing Icarus 's death at a crime scene, where there were witnesses. "so the report filed and forgotten in the archives." (line 6). This
line shows that Icarus was forgotten about, what happened at the scene did not mean much to the people that were there as they ran off to a "gang
war"(5). Then in stanza three where the setting changes to a more contemporary, current societal lifestyle where "Mr Hicks" who is aging in the
suburbs and living as the hero who fell. "to the middling stature of the merely talented." (line 20). This shows that Icarus is now one of the regular

Go to the field hockey field on a sunny day, wear your jersey, water the field and get excited. It is necessary to bring a functional video camera,
your field hockey stick and some field hockey balls. To make the perfect video you should start with a brief introduction of yourself. My
introduction was pretty simple: "Hey, my name is Kim van der Meulen. I am 18 years old and I play a forward position at a club called Oranje
Zwart in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. My team is currently in the race to become national champion. Thank you for watching my video, I hope
you will enjoy it." Furthermore, it is important that your personal video demonstrates your most valuable skills and your appearance on the field.
To give coaches a clear presentation of your qualities and skills the video should contain footage of you passing, scoring, dribbling and running. If
you can do unique field tricks, a top corner reverse shot or an amazing drag flick, you should show it off. The complete video should be
approximately 10 to 15 minutes long. You should also provide full game footage, coaches find that very important. Upload all the videos to YouTube

Descriptive Essay About Field Day
FIELD DAY
Everything started to look dim, then I was out. I was at school and I was thrilled for the day to start. The reason why was because today was field
day. So I got to my homeroom and my teacher Mrs. Martin (my second grade teacher) started explaining what was going to happen today. I couldn't
make out everything from the fact that I was thinking about what was going to happen today. We started heading outside carrying all the materials we
will need for the day.
So if you were not sure what field day is I'll give you a summary of what it's about, so field day is a day when you hang outside playing games with
competition against other classes.
So anyways, my class got to the fields along with the other classes and we started the games. When the first second of the first game started, I felt
nervous. I was very competitive about things and I wanted to win. I watched as the games went by and I had to because I was the captain and I had to
keep track of the score. We were losing badly and making me think of all of the scores made me woozy.
When it was finally my game to play I started to feel light headed, but I headed over to my station anyway. My teammates were Gabe, Laney and
some other people. Gabe was behind me and Laney was in front. The game I was in was the sled pull. I felt like I wanted to drop to the ground. Finally
it was my turn then Gabe tapped my shoulder. "You have a tick behind your ear," Gabe yelped.
I didn't hear him and whispered, " What."

Lab Report 5A. Coughran 4/12/17
Objective:
The objective in Lab 5 is to measure and determine the strength and location of magnetic fields using a coil, solenoid, and magnets. The experimental
values of the strength of the magnetic fields of the solenoid and the coil will be calculated and then compared to their respective theoretical values for
accuracy.
Theory:
Field line patterns exist within a magnetic field that is created by a current. These field lines of a coil or a solenoid can be traced by using a compass
because they create a dipole pattern, meaning that they diverge from the north end and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, the negative and positive power supply plugs were switched to see if this had any effect on the magnetic field of the coil. Both did not have
significant effect.
Procedure B: Field Patterns Inside a Solenoid
A slinky was stretched on the lab bench and taped down with the turns of each slinky at roughly 1 cm apart. Positive and negative alligator clips were
then attached to each end of the slinky to allow for current flow through the slinky. Next, a Vernier magnetic field probe was placed in the center of the
slinky, zeroed, and set to "high sensitivity" for accuracy. The power supply was then turned on and adjusted until the current reached about 0.5A.
Data collection was started and the average experimental magnetic field values, B, were measured several times for accuracy. An average of these
values was then taken using the analyze>statistics tool and then stored in Logger Pro for inclusion in the data section. Next, the theoretical value B
value for the solenoid was measured using Equation 1 above and compared to the average experimental B value mentioned previously in order to
check the setup. A percent error was calculated between each of these values at each current setting.
Once the setup showed good accuracy and was adjusted, the current was varied from 0A to 1.0A and magnetic field data was collected. The magnetic
field data and the

For example, "The average costs of installation and maintenance for natural grass fields were $325,000 and $27,000 while the average costs of
installation, maintenance, and resurfacing for synthetic infill fields were $1,212,000, $7,000, and $377,000. With the average cost of a single year
of maintenance for five natural grass fields was $35,000 while the average cost of a single year of maintenance for the 10 synthetic infill fields was
$7,000 (Daviscourt 1)." In other words, even though turf fields are costly at the beginning, for 10 synthetic fields it is 5 times less the cost than 5
grass fields. This is important because if Rocket booster stadium upgrades the school would be saving $28,000 in savings on field maintenance
annually. L.B. Daviscourt goes on to say that "The average cost of a 20–year maintenance cycle for the five natural grass fields was $903,000. The
average cost of a 20–year maintenance cycle for the 10 synthetic infill fields was $1,952,000. The average on synthetic infill fields was two times as
much the average for natural grass fields (Daviscourt 3)." This shows that the original cost to the amount of players is less for turf fields since there is
many more activities on turf fields. Therefore Rocket Booster Stadium should upgrade to turf because field management is 5x cheaper, fields are
weather resistant, and have safer

The Removal Of The Screening Current Induced Field
This paper presents the details of a recent study on the removal of the screening–current–induced field (SCIF) in a pancake–type noninsulated
high–temperature superconductor (HTS) coil (NI coil). To determine the SCIF in the NI coil, the magnetic flux density (Bz) was calculated using the
equivalent circuit model of the coil and compared to Bz obtained empirically. The experimental results exhibited that the SCIF elimination in the NI
coil enhanced upon increasing the amplitude and frequency of the AC current being supplied to the background coil. Moreover, the SCIF in the NI
coil could be successfully removed by applying the appropriate intensity of an external AC magnetic field. This is because the magnetization direction of
SCIF completely changed from radial to spiral, and the phenomenon is termed the "vortex shaking effect." Overall, this study confirmed that the SCIF
in a pancake–type NI coil can be effectively removed by exposing the coil to an external AC magnetic field.
1. Introduction
The second–generation (2G) high–temperature superconductor (HTS) coated conductor (CC) is regarded as a promising material for the development
of ultrahigh–field magnets for use in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applications. This is because the
dependence of the critical current (Ic) in the CC on external magnetic fields is lower than those in its low–temperature counterparts [1–4]. However, in
the case of a quench, the 2G HTS magnet is

would be carefully transferred from the jar to the puppet's mouth and skillfully squished all at once. We would all laugh in delight to see the glow of

The Magnetic Field Of Magnets
Abstract Summary
Magnets have a magnetic field surrounding them and these fields is the magnetism force that the magnet poses of an object. On a large scale, the
Earth is a magnet which also has a magnetic field.
Magnets also has North and South poles which can flip. The amount of magnetic material attracted to the magnet, allows the magnet's poles to flip.
Flipping on the earth's magnet could cause destruction on the earth. The magnetic field protects earth from solar radiation.
Purpose of the Experiment:
The purpose of this experiment is to discover if a magnet physically turns or if the magnetic field weakens to allow the North and South poles to flip.
Methods:
Lay the bar magnet on a flat surface so that it is facing a particular direction other than North. This allows to see if the magnet physically towards the
North.
Place some nuts and bolts on the magnet (same amount throughout the experiment)
Tip magnet upside down and observe how many nuts and bolts fall off of the magnet.
Record observations.
Repeat the above steps several times, adding the same amount of nuts and bolts at the same distance as used in the beginning of the experiment. Every
time that the experiment is repeated, observe and record the amount of falling nuts and bolts
Conclusion:
The hypothesis was correct but is was also wrong because the magnetic field did weaken but the magnet also physically turned. This shows that for
magnetic poles to flip, the magnetic field needs to weaken

After the Second Battle of Ypresthere was no longer any doubt of the courage and strength of the Canadian troops. On May 2nd, McCrae’s
close friend and one time student, Lieutenant Alexis H. Helmer was killed by a German shell. McCrae performed the burial himself in the
absence of a chaplain service that night to avoid any enemy detention. The next day during a lull in the fighting, McCrae took a break and stared
at the cemetery where his friend was buried the day before. He noticed that each day the rows of white crosses grew longer and the field of
Flanders’ was carpeted with blood red poppies. John McCrae then spent twenty minutes scribbling fifteen lines of verse on a scrap piece of
paper. When he was done he took the piece of paper and gave it to Cyril Allinson, a twenty–two year old sergeant major who was delivering mail that
day. Allinson describes the seen: “The poem was exactly an exact description of the scene in front of us both. He used the word blow in that
line because the poppies actually were being blown that morning by a gentle east wind. It never occurred to me at that time that it would ever be
published. It seemed to me just an exact description of the scene.” General Morrison wrote, “…this poem was literally born of
fire and blood during the hottest phases of the 2nd Battle of Ypres.” The poem was eventually sent to England. The

If the magnet is withdrawn, the direction of the current is reversed. Such currents are called induced currents. The current flows in the conductor as a
result of an electromotive force that is induced the so called induced EMF
The effect of conductor moving through a magnetic field is that it would cause a electromagnetic field which is used in transformers to change current
and voltage.
Mutual inductance is the magnetic field generated by a coil of wire which induces a voltage in the other coil of wire. A transformer is an object
constructed of multiple numbers of coils in close proximity to each other, with the express purpose of creating a condition of mutual inductance
between the coils.
Transformers Having a different number of coils between two coils of wire can cause a decreas of voltage of AC currents in applications.
Transformers are based on Faraday's Law of electromagnetic induction and mutual induction; the transformer has the first wire coil that emits a
magnetic flux that has a EMF in a secondary wire coil with aid of a high magnetic permeable core.

The Strength Of An Induced Magnetic Field
Magnet Drop
Introduction
Throughout this report the strength of an induced magnetic field will be explored, this will be achieved through dropping a rare earth magnet through
an aluminum tube and testing whether the velocity of the magnet will move at a constant rate and whether the velocity of the magnet will continue to
move at a constant rate once more and more weight is added to the magnet, and discovering why the magnet moves at a constant rate even when
weight is added or whether the magnet moves at a continuously accelerating rate as more and more weight is added. This will be done by looking at
various physics concepts these concepts include; Lenz's law, Faradays law of electromagnetism, Newton's first law of motion, induced ... Show more

Lenz's law can be seen to state that when a the north or south pole of a magnet is approaching the nonconductive tube, the induced current flows in
such a way as to make the side of the tube that is nearest to the pole of the magnet to oppose the approaching magnet. Upon withdrawing the magnet
from the tube, the induced current can be seen to reverse itself, and the near side of the coil switches poles to produce an attracting force on the
receding bar magnet. This effect can be seen in the diagram below: From analyzing the above diagram it can be seen that the above statements can be
perceived in a far clearer manor as the effect of the induced emf can be understood far more easily.
Furthermore Lenz's law also states that an induced current will only be formed if a magnetic object is passed through the nonconductive tube or coil,
which then creates a magnetic field that is equal and opposite to the direction of the magnetic field as stated above. However if the magnetic object is
increased in velocity then the magnetic field strength will also be increased, which can be seen to not only support Lenz's law but also faradays law of
electromagnetism

Reflection Paper On Field Work
Waiting to find out my internship placement, interviewing with my placement, and starting work has been the most exciting part of my graduate
education to date. I was placed with Walton County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and started working with them in the
last week of September. The transition from the classroom to the field has been smooth with my classes having equipped me for the field work I
have already done and hopefully for the field work to come. While the transition from classroom to field has been smooth, it has been drastically
different working with DFCS from reading in textbooks and class lectures. At my field placement, I have been able to interact with clients and get
to know them on a first name basis. Meeting real clients has been fascinating. Not only do I get to learn about what is going on in their lives, I also
get to learn about how they feel about it, what they think about it, and see their expressions and emotions as they relay this information to me. Face to
face interaction with a client is unlike anything that can be gathered from a textbook. We have textbooks that give scenarios and scripted interviews,
but a book is never able to fully capture the same experience as when you actually talk to a client. Even if a client's problem(s) may not be that
"interesting" I find it captivating to speak with someone and learn about what they are going through, then to read about worst situation possible
scenarios for clients in

Electric Field Lab Mapping

  • 1. Electric Field Lab Individual Report: Electric Field MappingAndie Zoeller 09/09/2014 Essence: The objective of this lab was to map out certain points of voltage that were determined by the equipotential surfaces. By doing this, with the probe on a multi–meter, we were able to see where the equipotential lines were at in accordance to the objects (metal cylindrical conductor, metal rectangular conductor, etc.) With this gathered information we were able to point out where the lines of the electric field were. We were able to do this because even though the electric field lines are not physically visible, we know that the lines of an electric field are perpendicular to the lines of an equipotential surface. Analysis: During this qualitative lab,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With these two objects, we were able to see that the highest voltage was on the outside of the large ring and the voltage inside the small cylinder was 0. Also, the equipotential surface lines in this experiment appeared to be curved concentric to both the small cylinder and the large ring. This means that the electric field lines pointed from the larger ring towards the middle of the small cylindrical ring. –For the second experiment, we used two small cylindrical, metal conductors and these produced equipotential surface lines that, when the cylinders were placed horizontally across the paper, ran vertically and curved around the edges of the cylinders once we measured very close to the actual objects. An error that occurred during this lab was during this experiment. We placed the cylinders at opposite ends of the paper, when we should have placed them much closer together. Though the equipotential lines still appeared as they should have, it may have been more accurate if they were closer together. –For the third experiment, we used two conductive metal rectangles. This experiment produced a result that was similar to the last experiment, vertical equipotential surface lines and horizontal from one rectangle to the other, electric field ... • 2. Penalty Shots In Soccer And Field Hockey Penalty Shots in Soccer and Field Hockey Why it is easier to score a soccer penalty shot than a field hockey penalty stroke Ryan Andrew 23.05.2017 11TH Grade Physics INTRODUCTION Soccer and field hockey are two of the most widely played field sports in the world. Both sports involve a team of players moving a ball around a field, and attempting to score in their opposing team's goal. At certain points in the game, if the opposing team has infringed upon certain rules, soccer players may take a "penalty shot' and hockey players a "penalty stroke." The penalty shot (soccer) involves the player kicking the ball from 11m in front of the goal's centre, and attempting to get it past the goalie, who is the one player allowed to defend against the shot. A penalty stroke (hockey) is essentially the same as a penalty shot, but the player stands 6.4 metres from the goal centre, and they hit the ball using a stick. It is believed that it is easier to score a penalty shot in soccer than a penalty stroke in hockey, for the reasons outlined below. DISCUSSION Ball Speed and Goalkeeper reaction time/s: The average reaction time of a goalie has been previously investigated by Taskin et al., and found to be 225.59 milliseconds (2016). Secondary data for average ball speeds for field hockey and soccer were located, and a calculation revealed the amount of time that goalies would have to act in if they react from when the ball is hit (see journal pages 5 & 6). These figures would suggest that it would be easier for a goalie to block the ball, but given that the goalie must move much further to protect the ends of the goal area, it is, in fact, harder to score past the hockey goalkeeper than the soccer one. Goal Coverage: It has been calculated that the ratio of the percentage of the goal covered by the goalie to the percentage of the goal covered by the ball was, for soccer, 82.14:1, and for hockey it was 827:1 (see journal pages 3–5). If you are on the attacking team (the team that is attempting the shot), you want this ratio to be small, as it allows the ball more area to move in that the goalie cannot cover standing still. As such, it is evidence that it is easier to score a soccer penalty shot than a hockey penalty

  • 4. Maglev: Magnetic Fields .INTRODUCTION Magnetic levitation is the latest in transportation technology and has been the interest of many countries around the world. The idea has been around since 1904 when Robert Goddard, an American Rocket scientist, created a theory that trains could be lifted off the tracks by the use of electromagnetic rails. Many assumptions and ideas were brought about throughout the following years, but it was not until the 1970's that Japan and Germany showed interest in it and began researching and designing. The motion of the Maglev train is based purely on magnetism and magnetic fields. This magnetic field is produced by using high–powered electromagnets. By using magnetic fields, the Maglev train can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "AN ALTERNATING CURRENT IS THEN PRODUCED, FROM THE LARGE POWER SOURCE, AND PASSES THROUGH THE GUIDEWAY, CREATING AN ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD WHICH TRAVELS DOWN THE RAILS". AS DEFINED BY THE ENCARTA ONLINE DICTIONARY, AN ALTERNATING CURRENT IS "A CURRENT THAT REVERSES DIRECTION." THE STRENGTH OF THIS CURRENT CAN BE MADE MUCH GREATER THAN THE NORMAL STRENGTH OF AMAGNET BY INCREASING THE NUMBER OF WINDS IN THE COILS. THE CURRENT IN THE GUIDEWAY MUST BE ALTERNATING SO THE POLARITY IN THE MAGNETIZED COILS CAN CHANGE. THE ALTERNATING CURRENT ALLOWS A PULL FROM THE MAGNETIC FIELD IN FRONT OF THE TRAIN, AND A PUSH FROM THE MAGNETIC FIELD BEHIND THE TRAIN. THIS PUSH AND PULL MOTION WORK TOGETHER ALLOWING THE TRAIN TO REACH MAXIMUM VELOCITIES WELL OVER 300 MILES PER HOUR. [pic] FIGURE[3] PROPULSION SYSTEM IN EDS This propulsion is unique in that the current is able to be turned on and off quickly. Therefore, at one instance there can be a positive charge running through a section of the track, and within a second it could have a neutral charge. This is the basic principle behind slowing the vehicle down and breaking it. The current through the guiderails is reversed causing the train to slow, and eventually to competely stop. Additionally, by reversing the current, the train would go in the reverse direction. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Field Recording History One of numerous terms imperative to the scope of this document is field recording. A literal interpretation (i.e., to record in a field) falls short of what is encompassed. In contrast to the type of recording with which many musicians may be familiar, within a highly controlled space exhibiting minimal extraneous sound, field recording is audio recording conducted outside a recording studio. This comes without exception, acquiring sounds produced by life, nature, or anything else present. Noted field recordist and ecologist Bernie Krause (b. 1938) categorized the diverse sounds one may record into three categories. Geophony refers to non–biological sounds produced by the earth (e.g., wind, water). Sounds made by the species of the recorded area are classified as biophony, while human generated sounds of any kind are referred to as anthrophony. Field recording, recording ostensibly in "the field" in contrast to the studio, provides discernible explanation. That said, one may frequently find phonography used to describe the same activity. Phonography, quite literally "sound–writing", purposefully alludes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modern field recording finds an array of uses, including documentation, research, artistic, and otherwise. • 6. Brief History Of Field Hockey Introduction: A Brief History Field hockey's origins can be traced back 4000 years to ancient Egypt, Greece and Persia, although the game, as we have all come to know it, was developed in Britain in the late 19th century (Longstreth, 2014) . It is said to be the oldest team sport in history (Girasole, 2010) . Field Hockey's original name was the "ball and stick" game. Hockey was initially played with a cube, instead of the ball we use today. Hockey was initially considered to be too dangerous for women, but it became socially accepted when women were allowed to play sports such as lawn tennis and croquette (Girasole, 2010). The first Women's field hockey team was formed in 1887 in England. Hockey made its debut in the Olympics in 1908 and thus the International Hockey Federation was assembled (Girasole, 2010). Today, field hockey is the second largest team sport in the world, played in over 100 countries (McBryde, 2013). Identification of Problem In a sport with so much ... For example, the training program for a women's hockey team will be different to the training program for a men's hockey team. This would be due to factors such as men having higher testosterone levels, allowing them to build muscle mass faster, and men having lower flexibility, the men would thus have to do more flexibility exercises in order to abstain from injury. Another example would be that the links would have a different training program to the goalkeeper. The links would have a greater emphasis on fitness and speed, while the goalkeeper would have more of an emphasis on flexibility and skill, although fitness would also be a large aspect. • 7. A Experiment On Magnetic Field Theory A magnetic field is an area in which there is an electrical charge where a magnetic force acts. A magnetic field can be induced in a circular loop and it can be calculated if the radius, current, and number of turns are all known. When in the form of a coil it is directed along the axis of the coil and is usually uniform throughout the coil until it begins to fall off when it gets further away from the center. Another characteristic ofmagnetic field is that it can be changed to induce a voltage. That induced voltage is known as the magnetic flux and it can be calculated by knowing the area of the coil and the value of the magnetic field going through the coil. Experimental Procedure This experiment was broken up into four different parts. It began by verifying the connections and understanding the direction of the sensor. The next section measured the field versus the current and the purpose of this was to find the value of the vacuum magnetic constant Ој0 by using the measured magnetic field and the current of the coil. In the following portion of the experiment the purpose was to measure the rate at which the magnetic field drops off as the sensor is moved away from the cell. The final part of the experiment had one use a magnet to change the field of the coil so that a voltage could be induced and measured. Results The experiment began by connecting the magnetic field sensor to the universal lab interface and setting it to 6.4mT. Once the field was set up a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Physics Of Magnetic Field When a wire with current flowing through it, is placed in a magnetic field a force is placed on the wire: this is the motor principle and this is the principle behind the loud speaker. Hello, My name is Michael Trevorrow and you will be learning about the loud speaker and electromagnetism. But first, if you want to understand the loud speaker you have to understand electromagnetism. Well electromagnetism is simply 'the phenomenon of the interaction of electric currents or fields and magnetic fields'. This will become clearer later. All right the loud speaker we all know what they look like, but we don't know how they work. When things shake or vibrate, they produce a sound. If a coil is wrapped around a magnet, the coil now becomes an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The formula for a solenoid is B=u0nl, where n is the number of coils and I is the current. Being able to show the strength, will show the loudness because the current flow alters the frequency and altering the current flow will make the solenoid field larger. Coils and changing direction A conductor, copper, is tightly wrapped around a magnet to make amagnetic field. But how does this create sound? The coil has a current flowing through it the coil moves and the polar orientation reverses. When this is reversed it allows the magnetic forces between the coil and this allows the coil to move up and down the magnet, which creates sound. The magnetic field can be increased by putting more coils around the magnetic which leads to larger sound. Current Current is the driving force which causes the diaphragm acceleration. Current is a flow of electricity which results from the ordered directional movement of electrically charged particles. In simple terms current is the flow of electricity throughout the coil. Current is how we can change the frequency or sound pitch of the speaker, by altering voltage it will change the current. Now we know what happens inside a speaker, lets have a look at the magnets involved. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Magnetic Field Magnetic field is the spaces in which kinetic and electrically charged particles are under influence of power and is formed following that electrons revolve around the nucleus and themselves. Magnetic field is a phenomenon which cannot be directly seen or easily felt, however its results can be seen and felt. Today, with the development of technology its measurement via devices has become possible. All substances are of magnetic fields, either living or non–living, weak or strong. They occur in connection with use of electric power, electronic surveillance systems and various types of wireless communications. While these fields differ with respect to strengths and physical characteristics, they all give rise to concern among those exposed about the possibility of health risks. It is well established that strong fields can give rise to acute health effects, such as burns, but exposure guidelines and regulations protect effectively against such effects. Current concerns are instead directed towards the possibility that long–term exposure to weak fields might have detrimental health effects due to some, to date unknown, biological mechanism. Due to the widespread use of these techniques and the very prevalent exposure to some of the types of field involved, even a weak association with disease risk could have strong impacts on public health. Although the likelihood of such a scenario is debatable, it is the opinion of many that close monitoring of health risks among exposed subjects is a high priority. Indeed, extensive research is ongoing and has been so for several years. A report linking childhood cancer mortality to the presence of power lines in the near proximity to the children's homes about 25 years ago spurred the interest in power frequency fields1 . This interest has remained high ever since, although it has gradually shifted towards other types of field, and in particular towards those used in connection with telecommunications. The objective of this paper is to discuss the evidence pertaining to the possibility that long–term exposure to weak fields of the types discussed above may be associated with health ... • 11. A Brief Look at Field Hockey There are hundreds of sports that are played all around the world; they are played outdoors, indoors, and even underwater. One of these sports is hockey; hockey is played in a few ways, street, floor, ice, and field. Although not widely televised, field hockey is popular in Canada, the United States, Eastern Europe and regions where ice–hockey is most popular. It is played in about 112 countries and is known to be one of the top six athletic teams in the world. Though the origin of field hockey is unknown, drawings about 4,000 years old have depicted men playing a like version of hockey in the Beni Hasan Tombs of Egypt. Field hockey is believed to be around for about 4,000 years; after periods of time, hockey evolved to how it is played today. In the middle ages, hockey was very popular all around Europe, it was played in different ways and each region had a different name for it. There were many people who were a fan of the sport, but there were also people who hated it. In the 1300's King Edward III of England passed a proclamation to ban the playing of hockey along with a few other intense sports. In addition to the banning of the sport, women weren't always allowed to play field hockey, it was considered too intense and dangerous for women to handle until the late 1800's when it was first introduced to British Universities. In the early 1900's a physical education teacher by the name of Constance M.K. Applebee introduced field hockey to the United States. Field Hockey ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He felt he was one of the most qualified doctor–soldiers in the country and felt his obligation to the country and to the Empire. McCrae’s greatest test would come when his Canadian contingent were sent to the Ypres Salient. Up to this point the Canadians were not regarded as fighting soldiers and were thus given the assignment of occupying this relatively quite sector of the front. The importance of Ypres would soon be realized when on April 22, 1915 the German line used the first poisonous gas attack in war against the Canadians and Algerians troops to gain access to the important roads that intersected in Ypres. The Algerian troops fled leaving a gap of six kilometers along the trench system. Now the German side had the ability to take control of the area. Somehow the gap was filled with the Canadians who even managed to counterattack, a strategy that came as a complete surprise to the Germans. In a thriving age of technology and science, one could argue that the United States (and many countries throughout the world) have progressed a long way from the outdated technologies that were used in past decades. Yet, despite the vast progress made in the stem fields, the demographics of STEM workers are still highly outdated with its lack of racial and gender diversity. As a result of the growing number of jobs in STEM, organizations such as Black Girls Code are making steps to prepare minorities for these careers. The founder of Black Girls Code, Kimberly Bryant, experienced what she calls "cultural isolation" during her collegiate years and throughout her career as an electrical engineer. Bryant recalls seeing very few faces like her own and felt that there was a void in the STEM field that needed to be filled by the presence of black women. Bryant acknowledges that the lack of black females in STEM is not due to a lack of interest in the sciences, but is instead due to a lack of resources and lack of exposure provided to black girls during early education. She set out to meet this need and, thus, Black Girls Code was created. Black Girls Code is an organization focused on increasing the number of black girls in the STEM field. They do so by training black girls, ages 7 to 17, in the field of computer science, also known as coding. "By launching Black Girls Code," stated Bryant, " I hope to provide young and ... The current (I) remains constant in this part. Lastly, in part 2 of this lab, we analyzed the magnetic field of themagnet. Magnets can exert a force at a distance, just like electric charges. Magnetic fields permeate space and are strongest near a permanent magnet (magnetic dipole) or electromagnet (electric dipole); therefore, the power supply and ammeter were not required in this part. Part 2, consisted of determining the relationship between the magnetic field strength and the distance from the magnet. The graph 1/B vs. R^3, is the most linear out of the three. Icarus, By Edward Field Essay Kylie Slaten Ms. Thompson Ap Literature Period 2 2 November, 2015 Icarus In the poem "Icarus" by Edward Field is alluding to the myth of Icarus and Daedalus which is set in a contemporary setting. The poem takes a spin on the myth were instead of Icarus drowning, he is set in today 's world as the fall of the great hero, nothing but an ordinary man. It reveals that Icarus cannot handle being just ordinary and "wishes he had drowned." (line 30). Through imagery, diction and irony Fields uses a contemporary setting to convey the life of Icarus who is living as a man who once achieved greatness. Edward Fields uses the setting to connect the imagery of the poem which sets the tone and shows how Icarus is living in a new society. The first stanza describes the tragic death of Icarus. Then the third stanza shows how Icarus is living in his new life. The first stanza is describing Icarus 's death at a crime scene, where there were witnesses. "so the report filed and forgotten in the archives." (line 6). This line shows that Icarus was forgotten about, what happened at the scene did not mean much to the people that were there as they ran off to a "gang war"(5). The experimental values of the strength of the magnetic fields of the solenoid and the coil will be calculated and then compared to their respective theoretical values for accuracy. Theory: Field line patterns exist within a magnetic field that is created by a current. These field lines of a coil or a solenoid can be traced by using a compass because they create a dipole pattern, meaning that they diverge from the north end and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Finally, the negative and positive power supply plugs were switched to see if this had any effect on the magnetic field of the coil. Both did not have significant effect. Procedure B: Field Patterns Inside a Solenoid A slinky was stretched on the lab bench and taped down with the turns of each slinky at roughly 1 cm apart. Positive and negative alligator clips were then attached to each end of the slinky to allow for current flow through the slinky. Next, a Vernier magnetic field probe was placed in the center of the slinky, zeroed, and set to "high sensitivity" for accuracy. The power supply was then turned on and adjusted until the current reached about 0.5A. Data collection was started and the average experimental magnetic field values, B, were measured several times for accuracy. An average of these values was then taken using the analyze>statistics tool and then stored in Logger Pro for inclusion in the data section. Next, the theoretical value B value for the solenoid was measured using Equation 1 above and compared to the average experimental B value mentioned previously in order to check the setup. A percent error was calculated between each of these values at each current setting.

According to a recent study "the surface hardness of a Natural grass field and a synthetic turf field shows that synthetic fields had almost 2x less than natural grass, which would make synthetic safer after those rainy days (Daviscourt 1)." Rocket Booster Stadium should upgrade to a turf field because it is good economically in the long run. Also Rocket Booster Stadium should upgrade to a turf field because conditions are safer and more playable. Even though the cost of turf fields are out of the roof, Rocket Booster Stadium should upgrade to a turf field because of the new technology used in turf fields results in a safer playing surface, and the ... For example, "The average costs of installation and maintenance for natural grass fields were $325,000 and $27,000 while the average costs of installation, maintenance, and resurfacing for synthetic infill fields were $1,212,000, $7,000, and $377,000. With the average cost of a single year of maintenance for five natural grass fields was $35,000 while the average cost of a single year of maintenance for the 10 synthetic infill fields was $7,000 (Daviscourt 1)." In other words, even though turf fields are costly at the beginning, for 10 synthetic fields it is 5 times less the cost than 5 grass fields. This is important because if Rocket booster stadium upgrades the school would be saving $28,000 in savings on field maintenance annually. L.B. Daviscourt goes on to say that "The average cost of a 20–year maintenance cycle for the five natural grass fields was $903,000. The average cost of a 20–year maintenance cycle for the 10 synthetic infill fields was $1,952,000. The average on synthetic infill fields was two times as much the average for natural grass fields (Daviscourt 3)." This shows that the original cost to the amount of players is less for turf fields since there is many more activities on turf fields. Therefore Rocket Booster Stadium should upgrade to turf because field management is 5x cheaper, fields are weather resistant, and have safer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. The Removal Of The Screening Current Induced Field This paper presents the details of a recent study on the removal of the screening–current–induced field (SCIF) in a pancake–type noninsulated high–temperature superconductor (HTS) coil (NI coil). To determine the SCIF in the NI coil, the magnetic flux density (Bz) was calculated using the equivalent circuit model of the coil and compared to Bz obtained empirically. The experimental results exhibited that the SCIF elimination in the NI coil enhanced upon increasing the amplitude and frequency of the AC current being supplied to the background coil. Moreover, the SCIF in the NI coil could be successfully removed by applying the appropriate intensity of an external AC magnetic field. This is because the magnetization direction of SCIF completely changed from radial to spiral, and the phenomenon is termed the "vortex shaking effect." Overall, this study confirmed that the SCIF in a pancake–type NI coil can be effectively removed by exposing the coil to an external AC magnetic field. 1. Introduction The second–generation (2G) high–temperature superconductor (HTS) coated conductor (CC) is regarded as a promising material for the development of ultrahigh–field magnets for use in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) applications. This is because the dependence of the critical current (Ic) in the CC on external magnetic fields is lower than those in its low–temperature counterparts [1–4]. • 39. The Magnetic Field Of Magnets Abstract Summary Magnets have a magnetic field surrounding them and these fields is the magnetism force that the magnet poses of an object. On a large scale, the Earth is a magnet which also has a magnetic field. Magnets also has North and South poles which can flip. The amount of magnetic material attracted to the magnet, allows the magnet's poles to flip. Flipping on the earth's magnet could cause destruction on the earth. The magnetic field protects earth from solar radiation. Purpose of the Experiment: The purpose of this experiment is to discover if a magnet physically turns or if the magnetic field weakens to allow the North and South poles to flip. Methods: Lay the bar magnet on a flat surface so that it is facing a particular direction other than North. This allows to see if the magnet physically towards the North. Place some nuts and bolts on the magnet (same amount throughout the experiment) Tip magnet upside down and observe how many nuts and bolts fall off of the magnet. Record observations. Repeat the above steps several times, adding the same amount of nuts and bolts at the same distance as used in the beginning of the experiment. Every time that the experiment is repeated, observe and record the amount of falling nuts and bolts Conclusion: The hypothesis was correct but is was also wrong because the magnetic field did weaken but the magnet also physically turned. This shows that for magnetic poles to flip, the magnetic field needs to weaken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

On May 2nd, McCrae’s close friend and one time student, Lieutenant Alexis H. Helmer was killed by a German shell. McCrae performed the burial himself in the absence of a chaplain service that night to avoid any enemy detention. The next day during a lull in the fighting, McCrae took a break and stared at the cemetery where his friend was buried the day before. He noticed that each day the rows of white crosses grew longer and the field of Flanders’ was carpeted with blood red poppies. John McCrae then spent twenty minutes scribbling fifteen lines of verse on a scrap piece of paper. When he was done he took the piece of paper and gave it to Cyril Allinson, a twenty–two year old sergeant major who was delivering mail that day. Allinson describes the seen: “The poem was exactly an exact description of the scene in front of us both. He used the word blow in that line because the poppies actually were being blown that morning by a gentle east wind. It never occurred to me at that time that it would ever be published. It seemed to me just an exact description of the scene.” General Morrison wrote, “…this poem was literally born of fire and blood during the hottest phases of the 2nd Battle of Ypres.” The poem was eventually sent to England. Mutual inductance is the magnetic field generated by a coil of wire which induces a voltage in the other coil of wire. A transformer is an object constructed of multiple numbers of coils in close proximity to each other, with the express purpose of creating a condition of mutual inductance between the coils. Transformers Having a different number of coils between two coils of wire can cause a decreas of voltage of AC currents in applications. Transformers are based on Faraday's Law of electromagnetic induction and mutual induction; the transformer has the first wire coil that emits a magnetic flux that has a EMF in a secondary wire coil with aid of a high magnetic permeable core. • 46. The Strength Of An Induced Magnetic Field Magnet Drop Introduction Throughout this report the strength of an induced magnetic field will be explored, this will be achieved through dropping a rare earth magnet through an aluminum tube and testing whether the velocity of the magnet will move at a constant rate and whether the velocity of the magnet will continue to move at a constant rate once more and more weight is added to the magnet, and discovering why the magnet moves at a constant rate even when weight is added or whether the magnet moves at a continuously accelerating rate as more and more weight is added. This will be done by looking at various physics concepts these concepts include; Lenz's law, Faradays law of electromagnetism, Newton's first law of motion, induced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lenz's law can be seen to state that when a the north or south pole of a magnet is approaching the nonconductive tube, the induced current flows in such a way as to make the side of the tube that is nearest to the pole of the magnet to oppose the approaching magnet. Upon withdrawing the magnet from the tube, the induced current can be seen to reverse itself, and the near side of the coil switches poles to produce an attracting force on the receding bar magnet. This effect can be seen in the diagram below: From analyzing the above diagram it can be seen that the above statements can be perceived in a far clearer manor as the effect of the induced emf can be understood far more easily. Furthermore Lenz's law also states that an induced current will only be formed if a magnetic object is passed through the nonconductive tube or coil, which then creates a magnetic field that is equal and opposite to the direction of the magnetic field as stated above. However if the magnetic object is increased in velocity then the magnetic field strength will also be increased, which can be seen to not only support Lenz's law but also faradays law of electromagnetism ... I was placed with Walton County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) and started working with them in the last week of September. The transition from the classroom to the field has been smooth with my classes having equipped me for the field work I have already done and hopefully for the field work to come. While the transition from classroom to field has been smooth, it has been drastically different working with DFCS from reading in textbooks and class lectures. At my field placement, I have been able to interact with clients and get to know them on a first name basis. Meeting real clients has been fascinating. Not only do I get to learn about what is going on in their lives, I also get to learn about how they feel about it, what they think about it, and see their expressions and emotions as they relay this information to me. Face to face interaction with a client is unlike anything that can be gathered from a textbook. We have textbooks that give scenarios and scripted interviews, but a book is never able to fully capture the same experience as when you actually talk to a client. Even if a client's problem(s) may not be that "interesting" I find it captivating to speak with someone and learn about what they are going through, then to read about worst situation possible scenarios for clients in ...
