Gaming For
Understanding
• Brenda Brathwaite
• Co-founder and Game
  Designer at Loot Drop INC.
Using Gaming to show people the hardships of certain
  cultures.
Such as tackling tough and controversial topics such as
the trail of tears and auschwitz
Brenda held the attention of the audience
by using pictures from her personal life
as well as using elements of humor.
Brenda immediately
  engages the
  audience by relating
  to them about playing
  games.
Brenda uses the second and
  eighth commandments during her
  speech.

She speaks of her goal of
  educating gamers about the
  cultural hardships that races
have had and are still having.

She uses humor to show her fun
  side. This makes her more
  relatable to her audience
I would give her as 3.5 in dynamism
because she uses the stage and body
language but not to a great extent
I have learned that you always need a
way to appeal to an audience while
giving a speech. You can use many
different techniques such
as, humor, visual aides, references to
sports / popular culture and other
techniques.
You always need to have body language
that enhances whatever you are talking
about. Standing still with your hands in
Brenda’s speech was similar to Sir Ken Robinson’s in the aspect
that they both used humor in their mission of spreading
knowledge. Sir Ken however was using his cool humor to his
  advantage. ( who doesn’t love a clever Englishman, I am a
  huge Doctor Who fan)
Even though a lot of the body language was similar Brenda
was a bit more animated on stage and used the space on the
stage to her advantage. She also used a slide show to give
examples of her story and her current work and work in
  progress.
