Zoroastrianism is a monotheistic faith founded in Persia around 600 BCE by Zoroaster, believing in one supreme god called Ahura Mazda. It originated in Bactra and teaches of an eternal duality between good and evil, represented by Ahura Mazda and his twin brother Ahriman. Followers are called to follow the path of truth and righteousness under Ahura Mazda to attain salvation and the house of good mind after death, rather than following the lie of Ahriman and dwelling in the house of the lie. Fire plays an important role in Zoroastrian worship as a messenger between people and God.
