Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd president of the United States, born in 1743 in Virginia. He studied law and several languages, and married Martha Wayles Skelton in 1772 with whom he had six children, though only two daughters lived to adulthood as his wife and four infants died. Jefferson is most famous for writing the Declaration of Independence in 1776 at the age of 33, establishing the United States.
