This document discusses the design of a dual-band antenna for RFID and WLAN applications using a biopolymer substrate material. It aims to maintain compactness and required performance while replacing eco-destructive materials typically used. Key challenges include minimizing antenna size while achieving sufficient bandwidth, gain, and efficiency across UHF and microwave frequencies. The proposed antenna would be suitable for portable RF devices by being small, high efficiency for long battery life, and able to cover both RFID and WLAN frequency bands.

2. Problem Statement
• Several challenges involve in designing antennas for dual band RFID and WLAN applications,
such as: antenna size, performance characteristics like bandwidth, gain, efficiency etc.
• High permittivity materials allow smaller structures to resonate at desired frequencies. However,
most of the market available high dielectric substrate material are consisting of
chemical/petroleum based such as, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Synthetic resin, etc.
• In response to the global concern, it is important to substitute the eco-destructive material with
the biopolymer based substrate material for antenna design.
• Major concerns
– To maintain the compactness of the antenna with required performance characteristics
– The proposed antenna will be designed to cover both UHF , Microwave RFID and WLAN.
– Small size of the antenna to achieve low cost and portability also covered long read range
• Therefore, the proposed RFID reader antenna will be a suitable component of every portable RF
devices in RFID systems and WLAN.

3. Features
 Wide Band: Cover UHF microwave for WLAN application.
 High Radiation Efficiency: : More than 95% of the input power is
radiated & total antenna loss is less than 5%.
 Battery Long Life: High efficiency ensures low power
consumption than other antennas to meet the same features.
• Self Resonant: Simplifies the feeding network.
 Low volume: Require less space than other antennas previously
published.
